-1000/10 I've been going here for 15+ years with all my animals but since they changed ownership it's gone to hell don't go here even in an emergency they'll up-charge the hell out of you and and give you bullshit diagnoses. I brought my 13 yr dog in months ago bc she wasn't acting right, I explained that I thought she was having seizures (spinning in circles and having trouble standing) and that she was hiding in weird places (laundry baskets and closets) and for reference on the size she's a husky mix) and they told me it was just her hips bc she's old and sent me off with anti inflammatories. Well I brought her in again and tried asking more questions like if she could have a brain tumor or if we could do something more for her, they dismissed my concerns and told me that was not what it was and they just raised the dose and told us to bring her in again if she had any problems. Well she's dead, I had to watch as she violently seized and gasped for breath and died in my arms. This could have been avoided if they had taken me seriously then if they told me she needed to be euthanized she wouldn't have had to go through that I am so beyond pissed off I will NEVER go back. On another note I brought my cat in a month ago as well and waited 2 HOURS for her to get her routine vaccines then they tried to tell me she needed $600 worth of testing bc they thought they heard a heart murmur, safe to say I'm going to go somewhere else for more testing. read more

I used to recommend this place when Dr. Smith was there, but it's gone downhill since then. I also used to love all the text, but it's just not the same and I don't know what the hell is going on but the owner needs to address this. I was told twhen I called that the owner isn't even the primary veterinarian there, as it stated on their website. The only vet they have there now is Dr Quinones-Viera and she's one I had it out with. She's incredibly rude and difficult to understand. I was charged $49.99 to have my 5 month old dachshund's nails trim. Tech fee $25.00 + nail trim $24.99. Total $49.99. My little guy was scheduled for dental surgery last December. The office then called and said they weren't doing any more surgeries, but I could take him to a vet that I am not familiar with and even further away from where I live. I have been going to this vet back when Dr Musgrave was alive and then Dr Tony, who retired. Never had an issue with the doctors, office or tech assistant before. But apparently this office sold out to a corporate and the level of care has dropped significantly. I have nothing but praise though for Diane who has been there all the years I have taken my dogs there. But, I have to wonder, what sort of vet doesn't do any surgeries? Now I have to visit other vets closer to me hoping to find one both my pets and I feel comfortable with. Shame on you Accupet for lowering your previous standard of care. read more

Their charging is extremely predatory. I only came in for a follow up booster shot and was charged for 2 vet techs being in the room for one dachshund. The manager stated "that procedure take two people to do" that's why I was charged. I was also charged for the booster which I've never dealt with at other vet offices. We took our dog to Accupet because we thought she may be pregnant. Little did I know I was walking into an ambush. Upon arrival we were reprimanded for every decision we have made about our dog for the last 5 yrs. Why didn't you get this vaccine or that vaccine felt like I was being interrogated by an angry detective. This is not the first visit here we have been going here for 5yrs. The vet we made the appointment with was not there instead we were dealt Dr.Kathleen who has the bedside manner of a viking. The attitude was awful no respect. It was all about the dollars we haven't spent there in 5yrs didn't seem to care about my dog at all. Worst experience I have had anywhere! Rude and unorganized. Had an appointment scheduled the day before Christmas and my husband arrived and was told we didn't have an appointment. I called back and was advised they didn't see it, yet when they pulled my husband's name up, she read back the cats name that had never been there? How did you have that information? If he was never there? She proceeded to say she didn't work that day and the person covering had no idea what they were doing. Rescheduled the appointment for the day after Christmas and my husband said the lady veterinarian was instantly rude and uncaring when she came in the room. Like she was upset she had to work the day after Christmas. He showed her the Advantage Plus medication we put on the kitty for fleas, and she nastily said that it was wrong to use, as she looks at the tech and asked her what they sell there? Really? You want to chastise someone for trying to do right, yet you don't even know? Sounds like you're just pushing the products you sell. He showed her the supplement for the nose cold. Again, she chastised him for using it. She was very rough with the outdoor little cat unnecessarily as she was poking in its ear looking for mites which he was in for a cold? The cat was in discomfort as she proceeded to jam the tool in its ear. My husband tried to console the kitty and help put its paw down and she snapped and said she got it. He said "well you're hurting my cat". To which she said "Don't speak to me in that tone." My husband left as she said behind him, "Yes, take your cat and leave". What horrible bedside manner. He said earlier before the incident he mentioned about bringing in a liter of outside cats to get them fixed, as there is a problem in our neighborhood with wild cats, and we we're looking to catch the females & get them fixed to help curb this problem. She said take them somewhere else, they don't do that there? Really? You don't spay & neuter? Horrible experience. Nothing like our initial visit with the compassionate male doctor. read more

my experience was absolutely terrible, wanted to euthanize my 16 yo dog, called for appt, whicch was set for noon, arrive early I was told and we can get you right in and out. on my room door on the patient, Opie, 11:46, this was very agonizing for me and I was an emotional wreck, 12:30 arrives and I'm still in the room. I opened the door to talk to an attendant, 4 of them were sitting at a table eating lunch, finally a worker comes in, tells me that they are running behind, and to be patient. there are 2 cars in the parking, and one of them is mine. finally, attendant comes in, and says the cost is $253.00, not the cost that I was quoted earlier by bobby. I walked out and will never return. came home, made an appt with VCA, they were so compassionate and caring, nothing like the treatment and attitude I received from Acupet, when i first started with acupet, it was wonderful, I am astonished how bad they have become, and lastly, Acupet, clean and vaccum the rooms once in awhile, they are deplorable read more

NEVER STEPPING FOOT IN THIS PLACE AGAIN. We've taken our animals here for some time. Had animals put down here we trusted the so much. Most of the family has been sick but one of my dogs needed her heartworm test so my daughter in law took her. I use heart guard. It's on our records what we use. However, instead they sold my daughter in law something That cost an additional $162 more than heart guard. When she brought me the receipt naturally I was shocked. I called them and told them the know what our dogs get and I want this exchanged. They refused. They blatantly sold something my dogs do not take to us as double the cost. Then refused to make the situation right. My daughter volunteered at a few different vets through high school to become a vet tech and swears by Hayes Vet on state rd 52 and Hayes.. Have already scheduled visit for my other dog with them. So beware. If they know you are not there and it's someone else they've never seen. Yeah you will get ripped off. Not to mention what vet can't get blood from a dogs leg. my dog is nervous. We held her and she could not do it. Had to bring the dog back a second time. For many people going to an excellent doctor is extremely important. This is the same thing when your fur-baby is sick. Had an emergency issue with our chihuahua. We knew something was not right with her. We took her for her basic check up and the doctor there made sure to take the extra time for her. The team and him there were amazing. They made sure to do the blood work for her and give her the meds she needed to ensure that she did not have to go to the ER. They even called later that evening to check on her. The best part is unlike a lot of the vets that still make you wait in the car for your baby they let you go in. They also space appointments to allow for COVID precautions. The staff can be very insulting, they now are charging so much more, and then call and insult you if you haven't brought you pet in for either a yearly or bloodwork that they think your pet needs. It hurts us to write this review as we have brought our pets to this clinic for over 10 years. But our dog was sick a few weeks ago and needed care (It turned out to be a throat infection). When we called Acupet, our vet for 10 years, we we told our pet could not be seen for two weeks, even though he was sick and need immediate care. We had to take him to another vet, a vet we never went to before that seen our pet that very day. Besides teating him for his throat infection, he pointed out a few things that were wrong with our dog that the vet at Acupet never told us about as they were not thorough enough to have noticed. I requested his nails trimmed the vet tech told me to build a outside pen and use papers and I would never have to worry about his nails again and if I wanted them to cut them they would have to knock him out. This place is a joke, don't believe me check the many complaints on their website, I wished I looked before taking my best friend there. P.S they Said he had one hook worm egg and sent me out with expired meds I didn't realize until I got home so I called them back and they said per our policies we don't take meds back after they leave the building, I never broke the seal on the box. $219.00 later I have a traumatized dog and expired medicine. I took my dog,Luna, to Accupet on Friday. I have used this vet since Dr. Musgrave started his original practice. So mistakes were made *I told Dr. Tony that my dog had lost some weight for no real reason. He brushed me off and said she could afford to lose a few pounds. Then he gave her a steroid shot to combat an ear infection. That was his mistake. *My mistake was not pursuing the topic and not insisting on further exploration. It turns out that she had undiagnosed diabetes which was fatally exacerbated by the steroids. *Luna saw Dr. Tony on Tuesday, Dr. Kobell on Friday, and Dr. Q on the next Monday. On Friday, Dr. Kobell discovered that Luna had diabetes. He also diagnosed gastroenteritis for which he prescribed an antibiotic and an anti-nausea medication. He also prescribed Insulin. His vet tech told me, "You are saving your dog's life." However, her condition continued to deteriorate over the weekend. *I took Luna back on Monday and was told the only vet available was Dr. Q. She told me the dog was ketoacidotic and had a urinary tract infection. I was shocked and I said that Dr. Kobell had not mentioned either of those things. She held the notes out to me and said very aggressively, "You were advised that you needed to take your dog to the veterinary hospital and you declined." That is categorically incorrect. (The conversation was me asking if the dog needed to go to the hospital and Dr. Kobell replied, "If she has pancreatitis, she will need to go to the hospital, but if she has gastroenteritis she should be fine at home." He later came in and said that she had gastroenteritis.) I believe the notes were falsified when one of the other vets looked at the notes prior to my visit on Monday. I said to Dr. Q that I didn't understand and could she speak with Dr. Kobell about what had been done at the previous visit. She replied, "I am not responsible for what other vets do." My reply was, "Please, I don't understand what's happening". She replied that Dr. Kobell was in surgery and wouldn't be out for a while. I replied that I didn't mind waiting. She stormed out of the room. I asked her tech to please have Diane come in to talk to me. I have known Diane for 30+ years. *Then Tammy Coleman came into the room. She asked me what I wanted. I replied that I wanted to speak with Diane. She said, "Diane's not here". I said, "I know that's not true. I spoke to her when I came in." Tammy replied very aggressively and hatefully, "Now you're calling me a liar. She went across the street to the drugstore and won't be back for a while. You need to take your dog and leave." She came back several times to harangue me and reiterate that I had called her a liar, and I needed to leave. I continued to ask to speak to Diane. I kept saying, "I don't understand what is happening." She kept saying that I was the problem because I said she was a liar and wouldn't admit I had said that. I didn't raise my voice at any point. *Finally, I told her I would leave, but I needed my dog's X-rays and records because she was still critically ill and I would need to find a different vet immediately. After a short time, Tammy came back with an envelope of papers, thrust the envelope into my hand, and said, "Now take your dog and go or we are calling the police." I stood at the door and began to go through the papers in the envelope. I was sobbing and shaking so hard that I could scarcely see the pages. I told Tammy that the records were not there. She replied, "They are probably on the bottom. You need to go now." I began going through the pages one at a time. They were frontward, backward, upside down, with some blank pages mixed in. The records for the previous three dogs who are now dead were there as well as records for seven cats. However, there was nothing there for Luna. I told her Luna's records weren't there. She said that she would go ask for the specific records. I was standing in the doorway to the exam room waiting for Tammy to return. Dr. Tony was entering the room next to it. I said, "Please Dr. Tony, I need help." He replied,"Talk to Tammy." I waited and when he left the room, I said, "Please help me". He muttered, "No, no, no, no" as he rushed into the back room. *Tammy returned with a stapled bundle of papers and I said, "I don't understand why this is happening. I have brought my animals here for thirty years." She replied, "You are one of those people who tries to make everyone think you are nice, but you are actually nasty. Take your dog and go somewhere else for the next thirty years." Luna died today. My heart is broken. Why were they so horrible? What were they trying to hide? Tammy Coleman was over the top vicious and aggressive. They sent me away with a critically ill dog after two previous visits where I did everything they told me. Needed to schedule an initial appointment with a new vet as we had recently moved. When I entered the facility there was not a single person waiting to be seen which struck me as unusual. Was taken back to have my meeting . Staff was responsive and attentive. The doctor came in, never introduced herself so I cannot tell you her name. Had a concern about my pet's weight so was seeking guidance. I showed her info about nutritional content of my pet's current diet. Her suggestion "feed him less." I went seeking some professional guidance which was sorely lacking. The vet's accent is very heavy Spanish and I had a great level of difficulty understanding her. Will not be returning. read more

We are a recent convert from our vet in Hays Town Center off Rt52 in Spring Hill. I found the new vet to be staffed appropriately and very easy to make an appointment, both dogs have bad ear infections and needed meds, I found the cost to be most reasonable and did not get the nickel and dimed feeling we got from several visits with our other vet. We were given slightly different instructions to keep the dogs ears clean which I found interesting and will follow the new vet Dr. Smith advice to the letter. There was no push for expensive bloodwork albeit our larger dog has issues and we my get one eventually, Dr Smith was very matter of fact down to earth get the job done kind of vet and we appreciated that immensely. The staff at AcuPet were friendly and phones were ringing which tells us they are trusted vet by many others. Our friend Teri recommended them, helps that she works there as well said give them a chance and we did, and we love the new vet. Easy parking as they own the lot they sit in and its not a busy shopping center. Easy access to the back rooms for our timid doggy. When they do the treatments, they take our kids to the back and get the work done. Our kids are doing so much better since going there and are wallets are happy too read more

It gets one star because there's no option for NO STARS. I was referred to a particular doc (Dr Tony) at this pet clinic by good friends. I had a new puppy and made my 1st appt with Dr Tony. When I arrived for the appt I found the office quite dismal, everything was brown and it looked like no one noticed all the torn magazines on the small table in the extra huge room. When the person behind the desk finally noticed that I was standing there she asked if I had been helped, which I thought was odd since she was sitting there and had seen me 10 minutes ago when I walked in. Ok, so I go in to see Dr. Tony and another vet (Dr. L) came in, said nope, my appt was with him. I was not happy with this guy, he spoke to me condescendingly, like I was just a commoner, what did I know about doctoring or puppies. So, when I made my follow-up appt I specifically made it with Dr Tony. Well, at that follow up appt, in walked Dr L. He said Dr Tony wasn't available. Again I wasn't happy with this doc or his god-attitude but since this was only a follow-up for more puppy shots I hadn't given up on Dr Tony. About 2 months after the last appt my puppy had an issue and I made an appt with Dr Tony. I showed up for my appt and after again standing at the counter for about 10 minutes was finally taken back and was seen by a tech, Miss A, who it seemed she must be related to Dr L. She asked if my puppy had fleas I told her no, no fleas, she asked if my puppy was on flea meds, I told her I didn't want to put my puppy on flea meds as she was only 4 months old and not an outside dog. This tech, who had yet to even look in the direction of my dog, looked back over her shoulder at me and with such attitude said, "and what, a 4 month old puppy can't get fleas?" That was it, that was the proverbial last straw. I picked up my puppy and walked out. I have no idea if I would have seen Dr Tony that day but I had had enough of that place. For all I know or will ever know, Dr Tony doesn't even exist. read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE. I was told that Dr. "Tony" was expert in torn ACLs, so I brought my dog to him. He told me that he would not operate on a ten year old dog who is a few pounds overweight. He recommended laser therapy. Had I thought about it, I'd have realized there was no way laser therapy was going to mend a torn ligament; we proceeded with six treatments. On top of that, I was sold some injectable meds at the cost of $550 (I have recently purchased that same med for only $225 at another vet); After the six treatments, Ty was to have a followup exam. The "vet" came in the room, took one look at Ty and said, "Well, it didn't work. You're just going to have to live with it. Let's put him on Tramadol" I said no way. I asked if he was going to actually examine him and was told, "I can see just as well as you can that he's still limping." Also during the course of these treatments I asked about his skin issues (constant hot spots, black areas of skin, fur loss) and was given this answer: A shrug of the shoulders. Great. I have since taken my dog to Dr. Pierce, who not only immediately diagnosed his skin issues as hypothyroidism (and the blood work proved it), but with his help, Ty has developed enough scar tissue that surgery isn't needed at this time. His coat is fully recovered. Adding insult to injury, when I attempted to leave the last appointment, I was accused of trying to steal medication. The truth of the matter is that they had my debit card on file, and I've never had to sign for a payment. Not that day! I was told that if I didn't return with the medication to sign for the card, she was calling the police. After having spent over a thousand dollars there, I was highly insulted. I personally will do everything possible to spread the news about this place that doesn't actually care about the animals. We are fortunate to have this local veterinary office and it's caring staff nearby. They are genuinely concerned about our 3 dogs' overall health and well-being, and were very considerate when our 14 year old poodle passed away. Both the doctors and staff have provided excellent treatment and guidance regarding foods, exercise and senior dog difficulties. We continue to bring our two remaining poodles to this veterinary office for care and they continue to exceed our expectations. read more

Fabulous vet, Dr Tony and staff are second to none. I wouldn't bring my girl Velcro any place else

We moved down here in 2006 and had to find a vet. This vet was just a couple of blocks away so I went to them. To be honest it was the best decision I ever made. I have called them crying when something was wrong with one of my dogs or cats and they have always taken us right in and taken care of the problem. The staff, especially Diana, is wonderful and is always very helpful. They answer questions when you call and if they can't they will call you back. The groomers are also wonderful. I will admit that I have tried other places trying to save a dollar and it is just not worth it. They are by far the best around here and I would recommend them to anyone that needs a vet.
