The building is old but there are plans for improvements and upgrades. Please don't discount this program because of the site or location. It is a wonderful place for your children. We have since moved out of Austin and use our experience with St. Mark's as a standard while looking for a new preschool.

There are lots of opportunities to get involved if you want - monthly events for kids/parents, lectures from parenting experts, Mother's Day breakfast, etc. but these are also entirely optional. Like many of the parents, we are not part of the church or any religious community but have never felt that this was an issue in any way (as one other reviewer also noted). At the end of the year, we received a beautiful photo album with photos and artwork from throughout the year; it was so touching to know that they had collected these moments/memories with this final project in mind and I think is symbolic of how children and parents are treated here. I know my son is not only well taken care of but also cherished as a little human being and am so grateful for the wonderful staff who make him feel loved. I found the place thanks to Yelp and noticed there are not a lot of recent reviews so here I am - if you're lucky enough to get a spot here, don't hesitate to enroll!

There are many flaws within this program. What made us pull my 3 year old daughter out in April was from an unreported injury by her two teachers Mrs. My and Mrs. Taylor. My little girl came home with major scratches (with dried blood) all down the side of her rib cage. My husband discovered them while it was time to give the kids a bath. I was livid I was never notified anything at school ever happened. I texted both teachers and they confirmed an accident happened at school. I emailed the director and her response to my concerned email was "Did she climb a tree?" Yup...the response from the Director...placing BLAME on my child that she was the one who did this to herself. Well come to find out my child had been picked on by this same girl. She actually was just hugging a tree and the other girl ripped her away from it.. (and I also found out the little girl's parents were never talked to about their daughter's behavior until after I brought up what I saw on my daughter!!!). Now I know my child was crying inconsolably for a while...why was I not notified? (I still don't know). After the response from the director I pulled my daughter out!!!! The director should of responded with empathy and got to the bottom of why an injury was never reported on paper or why I wasn't called!!!! The admin there is very unapproachable and never have smiles on their faces. If you choose to attend this church you will see what I mean. They only socialize with each other in their own strange click and make moms feel isolated. Its a strange environment. I kept my kids in there for so long because they had fun in class and that is what mattered to me until this past incident happened. One time in the past my son was being bullied by a kid when he was 2! I did get a phone call to come pick him up. When I got there they just told me he hit his head. I had TO ASK THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED and then they told me a boy had pulled his hand back so hard and made him fall back and hit his head on the cement. You HAVE TO DIG TO GET ANSWERS AT THIS SCHOOL! If you go to KDO be prepared to fight for your child and get backlash if you choose to do so. You will be x communicated from the church and kicked out of KDO if you do! I emailed the director two weeks ago because my daughter was asking to go back. I GOT NO RESPONSE EVEN THOUGH I ALREADY PAID THE UPCOMING REGISTRATION FEE. I wanted to be reassured there were steps in place where I would be notified in case of an injury happening again. I sent a text last night because I hadn't heard back and was told I WAS NO LONGER A GOOD FIT FOR THEIR CHURCH!!! WHAT KIND OF CHURCH IS THIS?!!!!!!! This is a Christian church who will kick you out for wrongdoings on their part...I am speechless...absolutely speechless. BE aware if you attend here. The admin is not friendly and clicky. Your child may be in danger and you may not be notified. They are NOT LICENENSED and the director did not want to make the school more than a two day a week program because she did not want to go through State licensing to do that (RED FLAG).

They had a routine that he was so well aquatinted with, he felt the need to follow through on some of his days off. And he was always proud to show me his work. It is a smaller school, and therefore you really get to know other parents and teachers. They communicate well, and use an app to send pictures throughout the day! They also offer aftercare program in case you have to work later (my kids don't want to leave aftercare). They have so much fun with learning, and spend ample time outside in the beautiful playground and covered, turfed area, oh, and a wonderful garden! I cannot say enough about the teachers and the staff, they are just true angels in earth, and we are so blessed and thankful for them. This was with the staff and teachers the school used to have. But I would rate the drastic changes the church made at a 0 stars if I could. The way they handled their decision was entirely cold, impersonal and unprofessional. Their reaction to current parents who were upset was essentially "too bad, you can leave" it was also over a zoom call, they couldn't be bothered to see us in person. They couldn't care less about their current parents, students or staff. Just your classic case of a church being greedy and wanting more money.
