Many of the people playing don't bother fixing their ball marks on the greens. Very few sand traps and multiple creeks/ponds. I had a great round playing at Skytop. This golf course has a mom and pop style feel, and has a lot…read moreof character. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had a good round. The course ranger drove us up to the 14th hole to let us play around groups, and even gave us hot dogs at the end of the round. The course is in good shape, has beautiful views, nice tee boxes, and plenty of peace and quiet. I prefer this course to all others in the area due to its simplicity, tranquility, and great service.

We often like to explore new courses, so my teenage son and I made our way over to Great Cove. If you want a fancy country club, this is not necessarily what you are looking for. But I love and support local golf courses, especially those that offer great customer service and sincerely appreciate and care about their guests. When we drove up, we were greeted by the President of the club board. She was friendly and personal and made us feel welcome. To add to our day, this was a fun course to play with a lot of variety. Some short, some long, a few good dog legs, and some water obstacles. Not bad for a decent price, including cart. The tee boxes were well-taken care of and the greens trimmed and allowed for some decent putting, though it is admittedly early in the year. Nonetheless, this place was warm, welcoming, fun, and affordable, making a perfect day for a father/son outing.

Probably my biggest complaint is that the ladies restroom didn't have doors going into the restroom and no doors on either stall. So there is zero privacy when you're using the restroom. You cannot bring your own adult beverages on the course, which is kinda a bummer. All that said, the gentleman assisting us truly couldn't have been nicer or more knowledgeable. Absolute dog track that hadn't been mowed in days. Wire grass in what's left of the fairways. No tee markers and so-called greens were so pockmarked and damaged that we made every green an automatic 2-putt. Save your money and go to Oakbrook, Berkeley Hills or anywhere other than this ripoff.

This is the best value for a golf course in the area. Oakbrook is a public course that's…read moremaintained as well as any private course. It's a very open course - not a lot of rough, and not too many hazards. It's an excellent place for beginners to learn the game. I always had fun playing at Oakbrook. The cost to play is about half of what I paid at other courses, and I've enjoyed Oakbrook more than the others. The driving range is also inexpensive - about 75% what you'd pay elsewhere. It's a slight drive from Johnstown, but it's definitely worth it.
