No two Lowe's are set up alike. I came in here and aimlessly wondered around looking for the item. Not finding it in the logical location I did what I always do in here. Give up and start to make my way to the front of the store. Almost always, I then end up finding the item I was looking for. I can't explain it, but I always end up finding it after I have given up in here. Good thing to, because finding an associate to help me was nearly impossible and when I did find one, they scattered once they say me walking towards them. Anyway, self checkout and I was out the door.

We placed an order for a wood & wire fence. When the wood & concrete was delivered, he used a…read moreforklift to place the concrete inside the garage. The forklift frame hit our raised garage door and forced it backward. That force broke the guide wire on the door which caused the door to be off-set. The door will not go down completely, now. When it gets to the floor, the door won't complete the cycle and goes back to the top. We called Lowe's about the damage done to the garage before the job was completed. We were asked to send pictures, which we did. The delivery company agreed that the damage needed to be corrected. They said that they had arranged for a contractor to set up the repair. It's been a week with nothing done. Meanwhile, we still can't park our vehicle in the garage. We, again, call Lowe's and they were going to have to get back with us next week/weekend. However, we stopped them and said that this wouldn't work ... they needed to get us a manager now. FIVE people later, we were finally connected to the company that delivered the products and damage to our home. The shipping representative said that she set up the repair with a contractor last week! The shipping representative said, "Since I didn't hear from you, I thought it was taken care of." We assured her that it had not been taken care of. She told us that she would get it settled TODAY, and we would hear back from her today. A person named Laura called us and said she would definitely get something done on it by tomorrow. I will continue this through another post when and if the work is completed. Regardless of who delivered the fencing materials, it was still Lowe's that was responsible for our fencing once we purchased the products. Lowe's should probably follow up on product delivery in order to not get negative reviews.

First off, this is Farmers Co-op and their pace is a little slower than some big box store, but…read morethen even those have some of the same issues if you are not there during normal working hours. The people at the Co-op I've found to be very helpful when you engage with them. The hardware is spread out in different sections that sometime require the assistance of someone who knows the store and again, every time I have ask, someone has taken the time to walk me to the item I'm searching for. I had a big wood shop tool delivered to the Co-op on an 18 wheeler that could not access my mountain property and one of the wear house guys used a fork truck to transfer the machine to my vehicle no questions asked. I doubt you would get that kind of help at a big box store.

And the place is as busy as it could be. A steady stream of visitors kept on coming in. The staff was probably the most knowledgeable and friendly hardware staff I've seen. It puts both Home Depot and Lowe's to shame. The staff knows refrigerators, oven, gas, electrics, you name it. Impressive place.

From hardware, appliances, furniture, sporting goods, and banjos, this store has it all. Nothing in the store has been updated, but has been gently maintained to keep it in its original state. I once asked for a pound of framing nails and 50 feet of rope. One of several older men working there went to a wood bin and picked up a large handful of nails and put them in the bag and asked if that would do. It was clearly over a pound but charged me for just the pound. Another man went to the back and started measuring rope using is outreached arms. Again, clearly over 50 feet but charged me not a penny more. If you are in the area, its worth spending 20 minutes or so wondering the aisles and finding things you'll never find in Home Depot or Walmart. Nothing about CJ Richardson's is commercial, superficial, or meant to impersonate the good old days. What you see is what you get (and that really says something).

The store looks incredible and is a super valuable asset to the community. I am thrilled if I can get what I need here instead of through Amazon or at the big box stores. Jackson is always kind and helpful. Service is excellent. If they don't have what you need, just ask and they can probably get it for you. I have found some real gems in the garden section here too and at excellent prices. I am so grateful for this local resource and encourage folks to purchase here whenever possible. Even if you find a deal elsewhere that is a few dollars cheaper, your investment in our community is well spent here!

Early on I had an agreement with Randy to meet or beat the prices of the big stores in Lewisburg. I also contracted certain jobs out to Robert, Randy's dad, road building, dozer work, that sort of thing. Great people, very knowledgeable and great to deal with. I was an ol' cowboy from out west and half the time I didn't know what I was doing. Their advice often kept me from making stupid and expensive mistakes. Lowe's was several hours away and the next closest building supply warehouse was an hour and half. We expected for the family owned Glades to be astronomical in prices. We couldn't have been more wrong. We shopped prices for all things required to build a cabin, from the foundation, to the roofing, and nearly every item was either cheaper or the same price as the big box stores. Lumber, cinderblock, metal roofing, cedar siding--all cheaper or close to the competitors. They worked with us on many occassions and through in free shipping on large orders (which where we were located was a huge savings). The service is great and provide their best honest opinion, even if it isn't in their interest. They carry a wide variety of products and can special order the majority of what they don't stock. Even through we are nearing completion of the cabin, we will be spending countless trips over the coming years picking up needed home goods, tools, and hardware.
