I gave the store two stars because a nice man who works in the paint department showed me the employee who works in plumbing. I approached her and she ignored me and as I asked her if she worked in plumbing she responded with what I thought was "I'm not here." On the inside I figured I just misunderstood her. Wrong. I asked again and said I only had a quick question. She then emphatically said "I'm not here. I'm OFF." Fooled me because I was thinking "uh then why are you here WORKING?" She said again she was off so I set the item causing my aforementioned question on a shelf. She then realized I was leaving and mumbling to myself that I was going to write this missive about the experience. Check. I like to patronize small businesses rather than box stores. But my shopping trip to the box store was no less satisfying than the time spent at Ace today. After all my expectations are that I will need to know what I want at the box store. I probably will not step into the Ace again, and my advice to Ace's management would be to periodically check on your team and consider someone who wants to be service minded.

Being a normal customer of Lowes, I was thinking to myself, "Where in the hell in that store can I find them and who is going to help me?" One thing I can't get at these mega-hardware stores is available customer service. Praise be to God I thought of Ace Hardware which is right up the street from my house. I was greeted right away, from the time I walked in till the time I left. I don't know the employees name, but he ask if he could help, went to a screw measuring board, and lead me to the correct screws and bolts I needed. It fit like a charm on my toilet. When I checked out, they were friendly and quick. I really love going to this Ace Hardware. Oh, by the way, this particular location is not in Williamsburg but in Hampton Virginia. A couple issues came up with one of the odd shaped windows and one of the appliance installers but Lowe's customer service impressed us by rectifying it immediately and professionally. That surprised us since so many stores and contractors lately just disappear or make you go through a lot of rigamarole to get decent customer service these days...but Lowe's was on it immediately and fixed the items right away. Further, we had a lot of work done, so just to have a couple subcontractor matters have to be addressed and be quickly rectified was extremely impressive. We are happy we went with Lowe's and anyway their prices were much better than other companies we interviewed and came with better products and warranties. They also gave us zero interest compared to the high rate loans others were trying to charge us. I recommend at least get a quote from Lowes before deciding on a job or product. Good luck regardless because it is a contractor jungle out there.

After comparing several flooring companies, I chose Lowe's because I wanted a stress‑free experience with a well‑known, reputable company. Instead, the entire process turned into a nightmare. When Legacy Flooring arrived, they began the installation immediately. Everything was fine until they reached my master bathroom. They lifted the toilet but then told me they could not reinstall it -- and that I would need to hire a plumber at my own expense. This was in the middle of the project, with my toilet sitting in my brand‑new shower. I contacted Lowe's customer service, and the first representative told me the only option was to stop the job and issue a partial refund. This was after my old flooring had already been removed. I asked for a manager, who initially avoided the call. When she finally spoke with me, she said this was an "unforeseen issue" and advised me to complete the project and then call back for the appeasement process. I continued the installation everywhere except the guest bathroom because I needed at least one working toilet for the weekend. After the installers left, I had to hire a plumber for $450. Four days later, Legacy returned to finish the job. When I called Lowe's back -- as instructed -- I was transferred repeatedly between departments and offered a $170 e‑gift card. After explaining my situation multiple times, I was told a division manager named Kim would call me. She never did. Instead, another representative called and repeated the $170 offer. When I pushed back, Marianne called again and offered $200 -- and implied that anything higher would require me to sign an NDA. This entire experience was unacceptable. And this isn't even the full story -- just enough for you to understand why I strongly recommend avoiding Lowe's for installation services. Several colleagues warned me not to use them, and I wish I had listened. I will not be using Lowe's for anything moving forward, and I'm not done pursuing this issue.

She surely knows her stuff and works hard to help her customer through the ENTIRE process of buying carpet. She has been amazing through our process. We spent 1.5 hours getting help from the call center with our quote, to establish a coupon code along with correcting the color ect. Having to go through the call center really is hard. She even helped us with where seams would be and every saved us a couple hundred dollars. If carpet is something you are looking to get, I highly recommend working with Fatima if you can.

After that my friend and I went up to whom I'd assume was the event runner (young lady in blue) and she seemed worried and said she'd try to find something else, there was another gal next to her, when the young gentleman asked if he should close down the house (which he should have kids were getting hurt) she replied "no keep it up, we did all we could" and walked away. I'm appalled that she did not care whatsoever that children were getting hurt. Taking the house down would have not interrupted the event whatsoever but she thought jeopardizing children's well being was fine. Absolutely unprofessional.
