Can I write a review about a golf course when I actually have not played golf on it. I can, and I will. My Kiwanis group has been having our golf outing here for many years and I have really gotten a feel for just how special this course is to be on and part of. Our outing is usually a 12pm shotgun and we fill up all the holes with foursomes. This comes after a beautiful breakfast then some time on the driving range. I don't play but I am always there with my camera as the official photographer. They do such a great job for our breakfast buffet. Plenty to choose from and all fresh and tasty food. Once the golfers hit the links you can always see and hear what an excellent course this is. It is very challenging, well maintained. They refer to it as a golfer's "golf course." The holes are challenging and fun. The greens and fairways are very well maintained and there are always plenty of rangers on the course helping to keep the golfers moving along. After a day of golf, we have a gala cocktail hour and dinner. We have been coming here for many years and they have always presented a beautiful evening for us. Great food, wonderful service and a comfortable venue with a beautiful view. I know many people who have either got married or celebrated a personal milestone here... everyone happy with the event. Very good and reasonably priced golf course. The course is maintained well and is always a delight to play. The 9 hole course is a shorter course with mainly par 3s and a few par 4s. Only downside is that the holes are placed really close to each other, so you have to make sure to watch out for errant shots from other holes read more

This course is gorgeous to play, one of my top 3 I've enjoyed here on Long Island. It is very tricky to get a tee time at the best time of the day here due to how many people wanna play some golf, so this can be challenging The people who run it are also very strict, no BS, and kind of rough around the edges and one time were straight up rude as hell. Not much wiggle room for anything and barely give you a shot to walk on, this is why they lost two stars. But once your on the course past those stuffy jerks, it's amazing! read more

What a fantastic time we had at Harbor links golf course . We came here for the Port Washington fireman's holiday party and it was great . The building outside was decorated so nice and the building inside was decorated so nicely as well. The food was definitely delicious and the waitstaff were so friendly and nice . I would definitely this place to anyone !!! The have a huge parking lot as well so parking is never an issue . read more

Excellent golf course. Challenging and well-kept, this is truly a golfers golf course. Each hole is challenging yet very enjoyable. The greens and fairways are very well manicured, during the high season. Even golfing here in October/November, when the greens and fairways are a bit rough due to aeration, it is still a wonderful course and a good deal. While the golf course is five stars, the golf staff can be a bit brusque. Still worth a visit IMO read more

Under new management and not ready for prime time. Although the website highlights all the changes and new ideas its very much still under construction. All that's really changed so far is its more expensive. Driving range is under construction yet they have increased the prices. Current matts are terrible. The course is not in prime condition. Green are rough and all the new tee boxes barely have grass and haven't settled so they are uneven. read more

Great course always well kept. Only problem is pace of play, Players should be respectful and take a drop not search for 20 minutes just because they play expensive balls. Otherwise staff is friendly and if you get the ranger keeping people moving I highly recommend, otherwise expect a six hour round read more

I enjoy playing the executive course, especially since I am just getting back into playing golf. It's a fun, well kept course. Finished the round in about 2 hours. Walking the course isn't too horrible except if you're looking for shade. It's a links course so it's open and tree-less. This is the perfect course to get me back with the golf itch! read more

Came here for a wedding! The clubhouse is beautiful! The windows are huge so it's very bright during the daytime and you can see the golf course! I liked that the venue is more wide than long. You can actually see the bride and groom easier this way. The food was amazing! Lox during cocktail hour! The sea bass was super moist and delicious! Reminds me of a butterfish I had in Hawaii! The filet mignon was overcooked and definitely needs sauce. Stick with the fish if both are an option. Chocolate fondue fountain is amazing! Bananas foster and ice cream even more amazinnnggggg! Came here for the driving range and got a medium bucket of balls $10 for 75. Compared to spring rock golf center where you can get 150...I guess you can say the ambiance is nicer here? The only thing I was a bit disappointed in was that I asked if they had a driver I could borrow because I am new to golfing and they did not. 1st part of review for the driving range: - good driving range if you're from (or in) the area. Pricing is reasonable and they have multiple bucket options to choose from. The bays are out in the open; no nets, no walls or barriers. I like it like that as it's a great view and you don't feel confined. It might not be for you if you get distracted easily as you'll see what others are doing. There's not a ton of bays but it's usually not crowded unless there's an outing and everyone's warming up. They run out of baskets all the time though, so you just have to walk and find one. They also don't open late but that's just something to note. 2nd part of review is for the executive course 9 hole: As someone just starting out to play golf, this is a great beginner hole to practice! Greens are well kept and there's enough challenges and obstacles even for skilled players but allows beginners to get a feel of different scenarios. Reasonable pricing for North Hempstead residents and open tee times. read more

Golf / Driving Range. This is for the Driving range only. I like to slam a few buckets of balls around when I have a few spare minutes or just need to get some stress out. I love this place as it is one level with no canopy and on a sunny summer day, you almost forget that you have to go back to work. Located off the main run from Roslyn to Port Washington (the back road into Port Wash) it is easy in and easy out. Reasonable prices for a bucket - Not open too late though which stinks in the summer. Parking lot. read more

Beautiful course, very fun layout for the 6,927 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 73.2 and it has a slope rating of 128. Designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan, a golf course architect I'm not very familiar with but should learn more about as the course has great flow, combinations of twists and doglegs that seem to thwart my draw. I've learned to hit long irons off the tees as I've really struggled knocking my second shot on par 4's on or close to the green because of the high grass a few feet off the fairway. So, keep the ball out of the fescue. Most of the holes have elevated tee boxes, with some with split fairways. You can take the longer safer route or go for it on the shorter side. Each time I've played at Harbor Links I've had to cart it, so I'm pretty sure its mandatory, unfortunately. read more

The price for this place is absurd. $27 for a 5 yr old to play? And everyone at this place acts like they are doing you a favor.

You will find a better caliber of golfers at Harbor Links than most courses open to the public in and around NYC. Players dress the part and there's little drinking goin on here. These people are serious. Some may spend too long scouting for errant balls, which contributed to a 5 hr. round Sun., but it's still a four star course based on the beauty of this links style course, friendly atmosphere and nice club house. I'd like to start by saying, I'm an avid golfer and I've worked at a Golf pro shop of a country club before, so my experience is based on some experience. The highlight of my round on 8/10/2018 was the check in process, efficient and very friendly....all downhill from there. The starter at the first hole who looked to be about 100 yo, was not only border line rude with his grumpy attitude, he was yelling at us from the comfort of his golf cart (20yards away) to tee off like as if we were late, we were on time. There were was a slow foursome in front of us, he kept pressing for us to hit our tee shots, even suggested that we start with the shortest hitter, the group in front was about 250 yards out, not teeing off old man! Our group thought that we should play fast so we were playing extra ready golf, but the course was definitely not fast AT ALL! At one point on a par 5 we counted 8 carts and maintenance carts on our fairway, too bad I didn't take a picture! The maintenance crew were out in full force, we teed off at 10 o'clock or so, did someone oversleep? Never seen so much maintenance crew out on the course at noon time. Be ready, these people will drive in your back swing, stop within 15 feet of you, not pay attention that you're about to hit your approach shot while watering the green, I can go on! People, THERE ARE NO WATER COOLERS ON THE COURSE!! I don't know about you, but I'm not a camel, I need water. I assumed that a place like this would allow you to buy water or give you access to water while on the course, not here. They have a nice water cooler system near the pro shop, but that's really it. The snack shop you can buy some before the round (and stop by at the turn), but it will get warm so can't buy much. The cart girl will not even get out of the cart, it's self serve and pay her as she sits pretty in the cart. We saw her 2 times on the course, 2nd hole and then at 17th hole. So In Between get ready to suffer... The snack shop is another story, one gal working, so plan for a 10 minute pit stop, this was just us, so if there other customers, it will take longer. The course itself, is ok. It's playable even if you're not playing well, room to spray your driver a bit, the greens were ok, tee boxes were ok, I would say that it's average. Some of the hole layouts are a bit awkward, but I'm sure land is at a premium out there. The best thing was the practice range, wish I can hit on the grass. The putting green doesn't have holes, just little flags on the green and there is no chipping. My conclusion, I played it once, I'm sure I can play better my second time around, not sure if I would go if I have to spend my own money. Pro tip: Bring your own water and ice on a hot day!! read more

I wish I can give Zero star. The worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Staffs were very rude and disrespectful to customers. The starters were angry, verbally abusive and yelling at customers. We asked them to stop these unacceptable behaviors but they didn't listen. We wished we could file a report for this kind of abuse. Average municipal golf course. Slightly overpriced but it gets it from the people coming out from the city. Management thinks they are an exclusive club. It's anything but. I'm not saying it is a bad place to play, but it compares to bethpage blue. read more

Review is for mini golf. Before I say anything about mini golf, if your business ranges from mini golf to wedding services, you should separate out the serious business (the weddings, and the full 18-hole main course). If some dope (me) complains about your mini golf course, and it reflects poorly on your wedding business, that's on you, bub. Honestly, it tells me that you either don't know how to manage your business or don't care, which does actually say something about how you might do weddings. Just saying. So, mini golf. Not cheap at $9 a head. That might be okay, if the grasses weren't growing over the greens in spots so much that they block the balls. Someone spent time to lay out a nice course here, with cute features like mine structures, and (non-interactive) water features. Too bad all of the water was stagnant (I bet the mosquitoes love that), with no pumps running. If this place were $5 a head (hi Heartland, with your water features that actually run), they might have an excuse. At $9, they don't. I like it here. You have a 9 hole executive course which is a nice quick round and has a few challenges in it. They also have a full 18 which is nice as well. 27 holes is nice. They also have miniature golf giving you a lot to do here. read more

One of the nicest golf courses in the area. Great staff of instructors that work well with beginners, juniors and everything in between. They have adult clinics during the spring to fall that are only $35( w/ small bucket of balls). The clinics cover the short game, full swing w/irons, and driver. Nice driving range, that is a lot more quiet than others in the area. Great place to practice your game. One of the best deals is the non-resident 3pm $54 twilight special (w/cart) . In my humble opinion, it is one of the best deals in golf. There is also a 9 hole executive course for $20 that is the nicest on LI. The course is short 100-260yds but is beautifully maintained. For me, it's a miniature version of the championship course. If that isn't enough to draw you in, the Grill Room in the clubhouse is one of the best deals in the area. You can get a succulent steak sandwich w/ sweet potato fries for only $13! The sweet potato fries are the best I've ever had. My friend introduced me to the Harbor Links last year and this season it became my golf home away from home. read more

I must say, I'm a sucker for some miniature golf! I went mini-golfing here yesterday afternoon - one day after they opened for the 2008 season, and I must say, for a course that has been out of use during the winter months, it is certainly one of the best kept courses I've played on in a while. $8 a head is pretty good - there's no reason you can't go through the 18-hole course a few times (we played twice), especially if there's not many others there! Not really too much of a "scene" - they have a small concession stand, no music. This really is a traditional setting - great landscaping (waterfalls, caves, windmills, etc). Course Difficulty - mostly Par 2s, a handful of Par 3s. Interesting course - the best I've played on in a while. I'll definitely be back with some friends to play once the season is in full swing! The course is sitting between the full 18 hole golf course, and a half a dozen soccer fields - all part of the Harbor Links complex. A bit out of the way, but the staff was friendly and the course is worth the trip! Note: You must play in groups of 4 - no more! read more

This golf course is horrendous. First of all, it is the longest round of golf you will ever experience. My last round there took about 6 hours and I found myself waiting endlessly after every hole. I understand it's a public course but at certain point the waiting just gets out of hand and totally ruins the experience. Second the care the course is given is totally underwhelming. Specifically, the greens are awful and are obviously not given the requisite attention. In addition, divots flood every hole and the course is left butchered. This, coupled with the waiting, makes it extremely frustrating to golf at this course. Next, almost every hole on the course is either dog leg left or to the right. A few of these holes on a course are enjoyable but when its every hole it just gets annoying. Lastly, my biggest issue with the course is the service. This course charges you an arm and a leg but yet they make it seem like they are doing you a favor by letting you golf there. Moreover, in addition to tee times always being booked, it is impossible to get in touch with anyone who works at the course and those who work at the course lack competence. They can't book a simple reservation nor offer the simplest customer service. At the course you are just a number who's pocket is trying to get squeezed. Overall, I strongly discourage anyone from golfing at this course. In addition to being extremely expensive, the course is not maintained properly, the waiting is brutal and the staff does not care about satisfying its customers. I recommend golfing at Eisenhower Park or Crab Meadow instead for public courses. read more

Played my first round yesterday and was a great experience. Well organized starters keep the flow moving and the round clocked in at 4.5 hours, not bad considering the length of the rough, the overall difficulty of the course and the fact that they've got full foursomes consistently going out every 8-9 minutes. For proximity to NYC, this is my new favorite. Similar in feel and layout as Ballyowen way out in NJ at a similar price ($90 for non-resident during the week including free lunch -- the burger is really good). First timers will expect a challenge with numerous blind shots, split fairways and risk/reward decisions all over the course. They give you some help with informative in-cart GPS and extra long pins on holes with blind approach shots. Regulation mens tees clock in at nearly 6600 yards make it a stiff challenge. Do your best to stay on the short grass as there is fescue everywhere and the primary rough requires at least an extra club. Laying up or taking your medicine is often the smart play as disaster can strike on just about any shot. Course is in wonderful shape and greens roll great, but were appropriately a touch on the slow side. It's difficult to get an early tee time on weekends and I've heard the rounds can be quite lengthy from the locals, but if you can get out for a round during the week that won't take the commitment of being there so far in advance (Bethpage), from the City or East, this is where I'd go. read more

For a non-resident of the greater course area 9 holes on the executive course was 27 bucks, which I think is a little expensive for that many holes on a public golf course. The distances were as expected for a links course. The fairways and greens were well-maintained with not too many opportunities to lose balls. I played here December 13th the fairways were in good shape with exception of the greens looking like they airated within the last two weeks, I know this course in season is beautiful and well kept. Only issue I have is charging $84 to play a winter round with airated greens and being ankle deep in geese droppings, also the tee boxes were pushed all the way up. $84 to basically play from the ladies Tees is outrageous. The rates need and should be adjusted when the course isn't up to par. That price is ridiculous for the product they're putting out. read more
