Wanted to share an unfortunate personal experience with a local roofing company - Harbor Roofing and Siding. I purchased my home towards the end of 2021 and the roof had been replaced by Harbor roofing prior that year. The roof was supposed to be under a 10 year warranty that transferred to new ownership and yet they've refused to repair the roof and resulting damage that the poor install caused. After weeks of pestering the owner to come look at the issue, he came out and gaslit me the whole time saying that it was due to the gutter (not possible based on the water damage that is appearing on the ceiling throughout the house), HVAC (the HVAC was in the crawl space and condensation could not have gotten on the ceiling from that), plumbing leak (no plumbing in front side of the house, nor does any of it go up through the attic- it's all under the house), etc. At one point I had to drive to the office because no one was returning my calls or emails or texts. When I was there, someone in the office said that the company was struggling and could barely afford to pay staff. Half of them were injured, etc. Not my problem. He refused to call the company's insurance for them to look at the roof and damages, which is even crazier. The owner is shady and the warranty is a lie. If you check, 95% of the 5-star google business reviews are from people that are related to or friends with the owner (not illegal, but doesn't make it right). All around horrible experience. I just want them to do the right thing and follow through with the warranty - having a new roof is the #1 reason that I purchased this house. read more

They left hundred's of nail's on the roof. They did not install drip edge's. Instead of using real plywood as we paid for they used Partical board's. They use cheap shingles. Very dishonest company that will lie about everything that they will do. Your brand new roof will leak in less than 10 years and they will not do anything about it. Lots of positive reviews on the installation of a new roof for customers. However, just wait a few years. They did my roof a couple years back and we started to have leaking. I called them and the guy that came blamed it on everything but their work. He was even totally wrong about why it was leaking. Bottom line....they left rotted plywood where they were supposed to replace it and did ALL of the flashing incorrectly. Things customers don't know until problems arise. The way we found out is by contacting other roofing companies for estimates. They all found the issues and it was all Harbor cutting corners. It ended up costing another $3000 to fix their shoddy work. They did my neighbors house also and they too used someone else for their repairs. Avoid these guys. There are plenty of excellent roofing companies out there with knowledge and integrity. read more

Was completing the roofing on neighbors house. Tossed old roofing all over our driveway (unintentionally) and damaged my mother's car. Wanted her to get 3 different estimates and then after she got 2 (damages estimated between $2500-$5000 and several hours of wasted time) they wanted her to go to a specific place and get another one. After refusing to continue participating in the run around they had just stopped answering us entirely **until this review was posted.** We were planning to take them to small claims court until finally after weeks and weeks of less than forthcoming assistance we finally received a settlement from their insurance company to pay for the damages to the car (excluding any amount for a rental car.) Just today the owner Nate decided to contact my mother and ask us to take this review down, and then said that he didn't want to have to deal with his attorney and have to get this *completely true* review removed. He then tried to insinuated that we are not local to Carolina Beach due to a non-local phone number area code and stated that he went to elementary school here so he is somehow more local than we are? They may be good roofers but my experience was bad all around. All of this could have been resolved if the owner Nate had just called us 3 months ago and taken care of a local (which he claims to care about) that his business negatively affected. read more

I would not recommend this company to install a roof on a dog house. The warranty isn't worth the paper it is written on. I had to spend out of pocket over five thousand dollars due to the faulty installation of my roof and especially the flashing. Mold issues, rotting wood and many more issues. The owner Nate Thompson failed to get back to me after weeks of texting and unanswered phone calls. I had a friend call to get an estimate and she was called within twenty minutes. I had to do my own research to file a claim on his insurance Company which is Rockingham Insurance. That took three months only to be told it was a pre-existing problem. Harbor Roofing is advertising for new business and they will not stand behind their unacceptable poor workmanship.This company is a disgrace and has no compassion for the victims that has incurred lots of hardships, changes in living situations and months of health issues due to mold issues. read more

Harbor Roofing was great. It was difficult to find a roofing company that would return my call, no less, give me a timely quote. One company charged me for a quote. Nate at Harbor Roofing not only provided a timely quote, but he gave me his cell phone and always responded quickly to me by text message. They have a gutter company that works hand in hand with them, so no separate contract is needed. Upon requesting services, knowing I needed this done quickly, Nate offered to work his crew over the weekend to help. Nate is a great guy, he comes from a family of roofers, and they are locals, so they know how to KEEP a roof on your house in coastal NC! Nate was recommended to me by my realtor which is a plus! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this company. I have a large Georgian colonial home with a very steep roof. It took only a day and a half to install our new roof. They HAND NAILED every shingle. The crew was professional, skillful, efficient, tidy, impressive in every way. They cleaned constantly, and when the roof was finished, they left my property in better condition than it was before they got here! They do more than roof installations, and we are thrilled to have them return for several other large carpentry jobs. You absolutely cannot go wrong with Harbor. read more

Harbor roofing replaced our large home's roof in less than 2 days.  Their hardworking team was polite, professional and efficient.  The team hand nailed the shingles on a challenging 12/12 pitch, complex hip roof. They covered our landscaping and home with protective tarps and picked up every nail, every scrap, every piece of paper.  Aside from the beautiful new roof, there is no evidence that they were ever here.  Since they do other types of work, we have asked them to do additional projects for us.  Very fair price and professional top notch work have earned our future business.  What better endorsement could we give than to be happy repeat customers? read more

After using Harbor I was sorry. After doing the terrible roofing job they refuse to fix what they should have done. Multiple calls with no return or answer. They will avoid you and make excuses for their work. I should have done my homework. As a realtor, I asked around to other offices about roofers and they all said the same thing. AVOID HARBOR, THEY ARE AWFUL. How right they were. If you look at their website the reviews are all positive because they control it. Try to leave a review and you will see that you cannot. That alone tells you what they are and how they operate. They are clearly afraid of what people will say. I cannot emphasize enough how bad they are. A terrible company. read more

The absolute best! I have never had a better experience with a service provider. They are professional, knowledgeable & the best roofing company around. They have done work for us on 2 houses and both experiences were top notch. We had a problem caused by another roofer, called Harbor and they showed up the same day, in the pouring rain to inspect the leaks. They returned the next day and did a thorough and comprehensive job fixing all the issues. The crew was just awesome. Harbor Roofing i& Siding n Wilmington replaced our entire roof in May 2019. No issues until July 7, 2021 when a leak occurred during Tropical Storm Elsa. Harbor's published warranty against leaks is 10 years. We have placed numerous phone calls to their salesman, Roger Heubach, trying to schedule a repair. Finally on August 30th, Roger admitted that the owner was not responding to his requests to schedule our repair. He indicated that our last option was to directly contact Nate ( owner ) or Cassie ( the office manager ). Harbor's mailbox is consistently full so there has been no option to leave a detailed message. They have also failed to respond to several text messages. On Sept. 20, 2021, we drove from Southport to their office in Wilmington only to find it closed at both 9:30 AM and 12:30 PM. Totally discouraging that they consistently refuse to respond to their customer's concerns. Nate was professional and helpful as we discussed a roof job. His roofing crew were fantastic. They were polite and hard working. They did the little things to protect our yard, etc as they tore the old roof off. New roof looks great. Cleanup was done every day. You could barely tell they were there other than the brand new roof. I recommend this company very much. Great job. read more
