I first hired Southern Style Roofing about 6 years ago, when I asked him to repair some work done incorrectly by a contractor who replaced the roof of my house when I initially bought the house 8 years ago. While he corrected that work I showed him some moisture in a ceiling between my kitchen and dining room. There had been slow damage for years, pointed out in the inspection when I bought the house, but no sign of an active leak. Southern Style Roofing owner, Ja, went into the attic and showed me how the air wasn't circulating correctly, which was causing the moisture buildup--we live on Greenfield Lake, so we have nearly constant high humidity. He installed roof vents that completely corrected the problem, which likely had been an issue for 50 years. Since then Ja and his team have repaired a poor flashing job around one of our chimneys, again caused by the initial contractor who replaced my roof. He made that repair right before Hurricane Florence, no doubt saving us hundreds in damage. As a large tree fell on our carport during that storm, he also recommended an excellent contractor for that repair, and then worked with him to replace the roof on and around that repair. Southern Style Roofing also replaced the roof on my mother's house before she moved in, which included a section with a flat roof. He cautioned us on the issues with that kind of roof, and helped us to understand the difference in installation. I was impressed with his personal concern about the work, making sure that we were comfortable with the work before starting. Last, he did repair work for a neighbor based on on our recommendation, of which they were also very satisfied. We recently had our roof fixed by Jay and his awesome team, and they were really impressive. Jay was super knowledgeable and really patient with us. He answered all our questions, even the ones that didn't directly relate to our roofing issue. He was like a walking encyclopedia of home repairs. When we were selling our house recently, the Home Inspector noticed some staining on the inside garage wall where the porch roof intersected with the wall on the opposite side. Since Southern Style Roofing did my reroof 2 years earlier, I assumed it was a roofing issue and called them to come out and take a look. Ja promptly sent out a crew to investigate and reported that the roof itself was not actually the problem, but rather the vinyl siding J molding being nailed into the wall right at the roofline. When it rained hard, the low nails would get wet and over a long time, the OSB absorbed enough rain to cause a stain and some wall deterioration. Our Closing was scheduled in less than 2 weeks so I was very relieved that Ja and Allen were willing to fix this longstanding issue for me without referring me to a siding or other contractor. The fast response to my need, quick diagnosis of the cause, and the price to repair and prevent future leaks will definitely cause me to use Southern Style Roofing for any future work. This is my go-to roofing company. They come out, assess the job, work up an estimate, and it's all straight forward. There's no guessing about what needs to be done, how much it's going to cost, and when they can get to it. Both Ja and Randall are good about making sure I know what I'm getting, following up, and following through. They take care of rentals as well as my personal home. They'll be putting a standing seam metal roof on my main residence soon and when they do, I'll update with pictures. I'm excited because I've always been happy with their work. We have not been disappointed with Southern Style Roofing! The whole process of getting a new roof was smooth from start to finish and the final product looked great. The true test was Hurricane Florence not even a year later. We had no roof leaks. We lost one shingle and one piece of our attic vent above some windows - both of which Southern Style Roofing fixed. They have been quick to respond to any needs or concerns even two years after initially putting our roof on. We had some leaking in our sunroom recently, so Ja (the owner) sent someone to come take a look at it. He couldn't find anything, so Ja himself came to our house and found what was likely causing the leak.
