It's gone and now all my direct deposit is messed up and can't get a person to speak with that can communicate properly

My mortgage was sold to harbor one bank. I am trying to make extra payments towards the principal and they make it nearly impossible. I spoke to a rep who told me I could only do it if I make a payment after the 1st and before the 16th of the month. When I try to make a payment online, the system tells me that it will not allow the extra payment, as no payment is due and I need to contact the bank. I have never run into this issue with any other bank. Clearly it benefits the bank if you do not pay towards your prinicipal, thus why they make it so difficult. read more

This use to be a good bank. Now all the bank does is waste my time asking for paperwork that they have. Provide insurance, hello the bank has it on file or couldn't get loan. The first two mortgages I had with Harborone were smooth. The last mortgage I got a few months ago was a nightmare. Wasted time over and over. Now I get notice saying I need hazard insurance, my house insurance I paid up front isn't good enough?????? I would never get another mortgage through Harborone. read more

I got a call from the bank manager, Heather Martin,On a situation going on with my bank accounts who was very professional who advised me to come in to change my accounts .When I arrived to the bank to change all my account, I was greeted by Dakota Castile and Joe Fontes. changing all my account, took about a half hour. FrankB. I was charged for a non HarborOne atm fee. I called customer service.they explained too me that they charge $1.25 per transaction for not using there atm. I explained that there atm is 10 miles away. they said it's in the fine print. terrible! read more

Our mortgage was sold to Harborone a few years ago. I've tried hard to give them a chance, and I waited over two years to write this review in the hope that maybe I just got unlucky with a few bad experiences. 1- Their communication sucks. While you can usually get ahold of a human within a few minutes, it is almost impossible to find someone who is actually empowered or capable enough to help you. When you get transferred to someone new, there has been poor pass-off information, so you have to repeat everything (and often the information they have is wrong). 2 - Their online platform is garbage. Not intuitive to navigate, half the functions do not work properly. I can't access my tax forms or statements. When our mortgage was first sold to H1, it took forever to set up automatic payments (with multiple calls to customer "service", of course). Our first payment was late because some incompetent clerk entered the wrong information, and because of this and they almost nullified our rate and reported to credit bureaus. It took me an hour on the phone before they acknowledged that they had messed up. 3 - Related to #2, they seem to have a lot of data entry issues. Recorded details of our mortgage incorrectly and we only found out years later. Getting that information corrected was like applying for a business permit in the Soviet Union. It is absolutely infuriating that we have no recourse here - because they own our mortgage we are stuck having to deal with them until they sell to another servicer, or until we pay off/refinance the loan (interest rates are way worse now). Avoid these incompetent knuckleheads at all costs. read more

I have been with this bank for over 20 years. Just recently it had gone to shit. I get a fraudulent charge on my card which I noticed right away. I tried calling multiple times and everytime it was someone with broken English " leena" i got 2 times out of the 5 I called. Because the calls all go to the same place after hours and they did not help at all. She was extremely rude and said she could do nothing to help. I finally spoke to a man who shut my card's down thankfully. But then connected me to help get a new card and transferred me to a different line to get a new card And I was right back on the phone with Leena the rude girl who can't speak English you can't understand what they are saying and they are rude and don't even know what to do whe. Most of the new tellers are rude and the wait times are long. If you are waiting in car line you will not be acknowledged, it use to be welcoming. You are at the mercy of the tellers for your account and even if they can help, I was directed to sit and wait for CS, 30mins to change a pin by welcome teller. Why did it take the security guard asking Lenore Miccuche to do her job to change a pin and it took her less than 5 mins. read more

I've been a member since 2005. past few years with the expansion, customer service is a thing of the past. I am completely dissatisfied with the service I've received as of late. In my most recent experience, I needEd to speak with a manager, the manager was"working from home" that day... So, they put me on the phone with a fellow named Sean Stuart in Fraud. I am so disappointed in HarborOne. Three days ago I went online and filled out an email form requesting an application for a HELOC. The next day I get an email back saying please call this number and we'll be happy to help you. Well that number was a fax number. I found another number in their email and called that and told them what I was looking for. I was told that everyone in customer support was in a meeting for the rest of the day and that someone named Susan (no last name given) would call me the next day. Well I waited till 3pm and no call. I called back the customer support number only to be told they had no record of a Susan suppose to call me and to go back online and look for an application form. That was it for me. I wasted 3 days with what I consider an incompetent, totally unprofessional, disorganized support team. I will look elsewhere for my HELOC. I won't waste another minute with HarborOne. I had been a customer since 1990 when it was Brockton Credit Union. Over the years I've had mortgages, equity lines , car loans savings & checking accounts over the last few years the service has been horrendous. The final straw came when money (almost 20k was fraudulently withdrawn noticed there were 2 deposits made 0f 0.21 & 0,24 then within hours 2 transfers of $8,500 & another for over $10k. Went immediately to the bank spoke to manager when I asked her how this didn't raise a red flag to their security was told it was basically my fault for not having "alerts" set on my account. She then told me I needed to alert credit bureaus etc. and jotted down a few contacts. I then went to my other bank to put hold on accounts. When I explained what was going on the assistant manager called over branch manager, they spent close to an hour going over in detail the steps needed to be taken & this did not have anything to do with their bank now THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE. Once I Rec'd provisional credit from H O I called to inquire status of "investigation" that in itself was a joke at best I found more out on my own than their "Fraud" division after hanging up the phone went to Harbor One closed entire account and still to this day it's been 3 months + - have not heard a word will never do business again or recommend this bank to anyone. I refinanced my mortgage about 6 months ago. I left a local credit union for the "local" HarborOne bank. Well, HarborOne isn't so "local". The have the mortgage being processed by a company called LoanCare. If you need anything signed by the mortgage holder, HarborOne cannot sign - you need to send anything needing to be signed, to LoanCare in South Carolina. If I wanted to refinance with someone in South Carolina, I would have done so. My choice, and what I thought I was doing, was refinancing with a "local " bank. I guess I was wrong..... I've had this bank for over 5yrs not one problem. Fraud hit my account for around 1,000.00 I provided ALL PROOF AND Police REPORT HIS NAME HIS PHONE NUMBER TEXT MESSAGES AND I RECORDED HIM. this pandemic hit everyone, in one way or the other I personally myself was not the lucky one. I'm disabled , have a bone disease, diabetic, I can barely walk some days, have a breathing machine, and have brain injury (TBI) I am homeless with my dogs and my disabled husband it's been extremely hard but we keep the faith we are still blessed we are alive.. I have applied TO EVERYWHERE EVEN SPOKE TO IRS. I explained to HARBORONE everything I just written is what I have said to them BUT they don't care all they want is money they were going to keep me entire disability I panicked ALL OUR MONEY GOES TO PLACES TO STAY HOTELS CAMP GROUND BY THE MIDDLE OF THE MONTH WE HAVE NOTHING. FOR TWO WEEKS IN HOTEL OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS. Sorry venting back to main subject. Absolutely the worst bank I have EVER dealt with. My Dad opened his account well over 30 years ago at the credit union that must have been bought out more than once. When he passed away we had to bring my very sick mom, who is blind, into the bank to have my name added to the account so I could manage her affairs. It has been a nightmare since. I was not able to get a debit card for the account without taking mom into the bank in person again, so that never happened. Mom now has Alzheimers, is in a nursing home and I can not access her login that I set up originally without my mom being present. I do have a separate login but some auto pay is under her login. As soon as I figure out how, I will be moving her affairs to another bank. Customer service has NOT been very helpful at all. read more

I find HarborOne to be generally tone deaf during this pandemic. I mailed my payment 5 days ahead of the due date and I live in the same state as the mailing address. USPS has been suffering delays due to the pandemic and the mail arrived a day or two late. HarborOne refused to reverse the late fee. This speaks volumes. I am now looking for another bank to finance my mortgage. read more

Harbor One is what nostalgic people might refer to as an "old school bank." They're old school in that they clung to stupid things like overdraft fees and barely being open on Saturdays for way longer than anyone else. I don't know what their policies look like these days but when I had an account their signature feature was their hyper aggressive overdraft policy that I've never seen anything like since. It was usually a sprint to the bank on Saturday mornings to cash my paycheck, which somehow, some way, no matter what time I got there would be juuuust behind the tidal wave of overdraft fees that would catch up with me from random purchases during the week. Hey you know what's going to help your customers overcome financial hardships? Giving them a negative account balance over your own arbitrary overdraft policies. Then there was the time they signed me up for some random security program that charged me an extra $7 and change a month without my permission. Because that's what the recent college grad with the perpetually negative balance needs: a Fortune 500 security feature to keep anyone from stealing my negative dollars. I brought them 8 months worth of bank statements proving how long they had been siphoning money from me, and graciously decided they would refund me 1 month's worth. The blank panicked stare I received from the manager when I asked her why really should be on the cover of the course listing book for the Massasoit "So You Want To Be a Bank Manager" program she undoubtedly graduated from. The final straw was when I was nearing the end of my auto loan. I hadn't missed a single payment in the several years I had the loan through Harbor One. My car was totaled in an accident with a couple payments to go, and I was late for the very first time while I was waiting for my insurance check (see my review of Hanover Insurance for more perspective on "old school" business practices). A representative from Harbor One's loan department, and I'm assuming recent graduate of the also illustrious Massasoit "So You Want to Be A Debt Collector" program, called me with what I assumed was supposed to be a threatening message. I hadn't even opened my mouth yet and some dork with a trembling voice was threatening to ruin my credit forever. I asked them if they wouldn't mind excusing me for one late payment considering I was about to pay off the rest in a lump sum, and technically the car didn't even exist anymore. They didn't budge, but that's fine because the car was eventually paid off and today my credit is probably a lot better than anyone who works for Harbor One. read more

I have had my banking needs by harbor one , I worked for the city of Brockton and Harbour one is the bank the city uses .So honestly I have been a member for over 40 years with out a problem in fact I would recommend them. I 80 years old and and not feel good. It's hard for me to leave the house. My son Shawn Bousquet has Given opportunities up fSo I can stay at the house and he takes care of my needs. So I wanted to put him on my account as a signer so he can pay the bills but it turned out to be a disaster. So bad that I am think of going to a different bank. We sat down with a employee at the bank and he said after signing forms and D every thing that we were all set. My son was a able to pay the bills and take cash out then out of the blue the VP of the branch Linda Grande had stopped my son from signing. They said we didn't sign a formal so I had to go back out and we did it again so my so was able to withdraw money but Linda AGAIN STOPPED IT SAYING WE DIDN'T SIGN SOME. This bank is such a disappointment. They bought Coastway Community Bank who had a reputation in RI for their amazing service. Since the week Harbor One took over it has been nothing but stress and problems. They're inconsistent with automatic payments (up to 15 days either direction) making it impossible to budget yourself. Any deposits and payments they deposit then remove multiple times from your account. They have messed up my direct deposit then left me responsible. I also called multiple times due to trouble transferring money into my savings- in response they closed my account and decided I would have to go into the branch to open a new one. Written back on April 15. . . I held back from publishing before but am publishing now. They suck. I thought a credit union would be better than Bank of America but I could not be more wrong. The manager at the Belmont street location is an arrogant prick. They refuse to show their check deposit policy in writing and their policy is screwing me over because they are holding funds for seven days which will cause $28K worth of checks to bounce, even though the funds for my taxes are on deposit. They will not even clear a certified bank check to my account even though they receive the funds immediately by wire. ("Float time" of checks no longer exists) F*** you Harbor One. read more

Insanely incompetent company. I have now dealt with literally everyone from the telephone operator straight up to the CEO. They can not or will not address systemic issues that make it virtually impossible to pay off your principal early by extra monthly payments. I can not stress more strongly, from the heart not out of spite, that readers should not ever use this mortgage bank. I have been dealing with them dozens of times over not being able to apply extra principal payments. Presently the CEO is blaming the delay in COVID although it is precisely the same as it has been for four years. ( One example. I mail check on the first. Two weeks later it is still "not received". When I was a kid and just deposited birthday money from grandma into my savings, I thought harbor one was great. Now that I'm older and actually use my bank frequently, I have learned that harbor one is quite possibly the worst bank in the world. -it's damn near impossible to find a harbor one ATM so you will inevitably end up paying countless ATM fees. -when you do find a harbor one ATM there's a 50% chance it will be out of service -they LOVE to take money out of your account without telling you. $30 fees are their bread and butter. Get used to looking at your account and seeing them chip away day by day. -customer service is awful. This past year I was obtaining a mortgage through harbor one and when my Loan officer was fired, no one from harbor one contacted me to inform me or set me up with someone else. This caused serious delays in my closing process and as a result I was left scrambling to find a competent lender at the last minute. Bottom line- you may think that you'll get better service at a local bank like harbor one as compared to a Bank of America or chase, but you will not. Do yourself a favor and never do business with this institution. read more

Overall its a pretty good bank but some times they give you the runaround. I had a fraud alert on a debit card of mine that they caught, which was awesome of them, but the process of getting a new one issued to me was excruciating. This bank held my lease for the past 3 years. The website is impossible to navigate to pay a lease. I couldn't set up an account so had to sign in monthly as a guest. Even with the help from customer service it wouldn't work. They had my bank info and tried to make a test deposit and it wouldn't work. Also they do not pay your excise tax! So my city sent the bill to Harborone and Harborone then sent the bill to me. Luckily my city never charged me a late fee because they never heard of a leasing company that doesn't pay the excise tax. Typically the leasing company pays the bill and adds it into the next months lease payment. To buy the car after my 4 year lease was up would have cost me another $500 monthly for an additional 6 years. So in the end the car would have taken 10'years to pay off. They also charge you a fine at the end of your lease if you don't buy the lease. No thank you. I traded in my lease and luckily the new dealer bought the car outright. I got out 10 months early. If you go to lease and the dealer tells you this is the lease company walk away. read more

i contacted the asst mgr at the mansfield branch. she is terrific. she reviewed calendars and saw i had an appointment as i had explained to her. she then contacted another dept to see about getting back interest. i recd a call a couple of days later and she told me interest was restored and, told me my 1099 would be accurate for 2022. ive changed my rating to 4 because she was so helpful but couldnt go to 5 because this never should have occurred. thank you asst mgr... you know who you are and hope upper mgmnt does too and they acknowledge your fine work. read more

5 year car loan. Wanted to pay off after 4 years. Called to pay off loan. Woman in their Randolph, MA branch with nasty attitude on phone saying "call back when you want to pay off loan rather than jerk around with this now". I double checked payoff EFT when I called back. Payment rejected as 'no account' at my bank. 2nd attempt in process. This seems to be a constant problem (maybe sabotage to eek out more interest) with HarborOne based on the other reviews! I'm buying another car and a condo within the next year; NO HarborOne. read more

Very unprofessional and unaccountable. Doing business with them is a risk. My wife took out an auto loan. She always paid ahead of time and always more than the minimum payment. When she was getting ready to leave the country for vacation, she decided to pay off the loan. She called the bank and asked for the payoff amount and promptly paid it. A couple months later, she received a letter claiming she was late on payment and threatened to report the account details to credit agencies. They refused to admit that she was given the wrong amount when she asked about the payoff. They still could not resolve the issue even after we paid the remaining amount and the loan officer, Angela, did not want to speak with us. The kid on the phone was acting like a punk. As a committed customer to HarborOne for over 7 years I have finally decided to close my relationship with this bank indefinitely. My most recent branch visit was a complete nightmare. It all started when I walked in and the concierge asked me what I needed to get done and I explained I needed to close an account and he told me to have a seat and a banker would help me with that. 35 minutes go by and I am finally approached by a very unprofessional banker whom said she couldn't close my account because she was busy and told me to go to the teller line and walked away before I could get a word across. By the time I made it to the teller line, there was a line out the door and I still hadn't accomplished what I came in to do after I had been waiting patiently for an hour. I wasted my time waiting to have a rude interaction when it all could have been avoided. read more

My first experience was when I opened an account I was told my deposit check looked fake. I told them its not and to call the police if its fraud. I have never been told my work paycheck looked fake before. This is the worst bank they treat all customers like criminals read more

My husband used this bank for his car loan. We needed a 10 day payoff in order to trade in his car. They don't have a way to access this online in PDF form like most banks do. Okay no big deal.. well the loan department is open at 9. We call and they say they *may* be able to get it to the dealership before the deadline of 1 (4 hours later) but they can't make any promises. Is it really that difficult to send a fax?!? When we called back, their department went to voicemail (around 11 am). Didn't send it in time.. missed the deadline. Thanks a bunch crappy Harbor One. Never using this bank again. read more

Horrible bank, Customer service sucks. Staff are very unprofessional. I spoke to a man name Justin about an ongoing issue I had with online banking and that I was being charged unnecessary funds from here and there. He kept saying it was my fault. After a while I requested to speak to the bank branch manager. I was put on hold for a very long time and finally when the manager got on the line she didn't want to listen to my concerns and basically rushed me off the phone; Horrible customer service! read more

I was encouraged with a decent mortgage rate initially. My mortgage lender was very slow in returning emails. I had to constantly prompt him to get things done in a timely manner. They do too many hard credit pulls which I had to fight to be removed. I almost defaulted on my mortgage because of the lack of speed. I finally got my disclosure and its been 2 days after I asked important questions before signing this document, with re-sending the email just in case... no response. Questions are not answered with the specificity needed especially regarding costs and I would have to ask several times before things were answered. Documents I sent via email they couldn't find in their inbox and I had to resend. I had a difficult time opening a checking account for my renovation loan. Overall, I'm concerned about the safety of my financial future mortgage with this company but at this point its too late. I do NOT believe I should be paying ANY administrative fees as I did all of the work here. I'm completely disappointed. read more

Competitive interest rates....Dropped $100,000 into a CD with them and they refused to let me use a bathroom!!! Being a senior I explained it was a emergery...They could care less......Felt like I was dealing with a Federal Government bureaucrat's inflexible not even suggest alternative in area..... read more

Imagine my surprise when I log on to my bank account to schedule a payment, and see that my direct deposit went in and was immediately withdrawn from the account. Get a loan somewhere else if you can. Our loan account paid monthly automatically. I tried to pay the loan off in full but it didn't go through. The bank never bothered to let us know and continued to take our monthly payments with interest. When I confronted them they said because it was set to automatically pay they weren't going to inform us it didn't go through and blamed us for not checking our bank statement. read more

I have used several banks over the years and HarborOne is the best!! I pay no fees on any of my accounts, they are also professional and helpful. I've banked with them for 9 years and I have never had an issue or fee charged. They are small and not in a lot of areas, but they have grown over the past 9 years. with online banking I rarely need to use an ATM or branch, however I am sure they will continue to expand so it is even more convenient for those that do. I will probably never use another bank again! read more
