I am a member of long standing, and keep 60-100k regularly on deposit. I've had their VISA for decades and have had no issue but for this. I pay my monthly credit card bills directly from my checking account, and usually time the payment several days prior to the due date. Most recently, I had a typo on the payment date, and missed the due date ... no big deal, the next statement came, I learned of the mistake, they hit me with a penalty and I deserved it. I immediately issued an online payment order to pay-off the balance, since the interest accruing was substantial. What they didn't tell me was the the card was now frozen. I use the card to auto-pay my internet service vender, and for retail purchases. The internet service vender told me the monthly auto-pay was rejected, threatened to shut my account, and charged me a penalty. It didn't stop there. I called cardmember services trying to find out what was happening and was spun endlessly on their AI unmerry-go-round. When I called their local office, they said they would refer me to the credit card desk, and next thing I know, I was back at cardmember services. After several hours wasted on this, I finally got a voice at Elan card services, who politely told me the account was frozen and would remain so until brought to current. Seriously, any look at my record and membership history would make clear that I deserved a least a notice that my card was being frozen so that other inconveniences would have been avoided or minimized. read more

3 hours with card member services, 2 hrs with harbor stone credit union I had a problem with a hotel stay, the hotel wouldn't offer me a refund so I called harborstone seeking help. Nothing has been done, I get switched around over and over. Harborstone will tell me it's the fraud department, fraud department says it's the dispute department, dispute department says it's Harborstone that needs to issue the refund. Talked to a guy today who said card member services should be able to issue a refund, i called them and they transferred me around to multiple people. After this by the third person and two calls dropped I was told I needed to call harborstone for the provisional credit. Called them they stated they couldn't do anything and that it was the fraud department for card member services, I was transferred again and told I needed to tell them " I have disputed this before haven't heard updated status. Looking to receive provisional credit because of the merchant not working with me to provide monetary resolve". I did that once I called in they stated it wasn't their department because there was no fraud. I have been transferred not to the dispute department for card me ever services I am basically getting sent over and over in circles and no one is helping me, just constantly transferring. I have been dealing with this my entire Monday and still not an answer from anyone. Also card mem ever services hangs up on me, I had one card member services woman tell me the fraud department didn't have a phone number and they only had an email and fax. When I asked to speak with someone else she said have a great day then she hung up on me. After all of this a woman named Rebecca gets on the phone with me tells me she would have to write in a ticket to get things going from the Harborstone fraud department. She is extremely condescending. Tells me that she isn't even sure if they will give me one because harborstone doesn't give out money for disputes often. I asked her if harborstone ever had given a provisional credit before on a dispute. Of course she said yes. So why am I not being issued one? I believe because I worked for this company they are being prejudice and will not help me, or offer any solutions. I have tried many times to get a loan or credit cards for this company and have always been denied. They do not offer me anything but stress and unresolved issues. I would never recommend this crap union to Anyone. read more

*****TANKED MY EXCELLENT CREDIT SCORE!*****Terrible experience with my truck loan. Made ALL payments on time and paid extra every month. Paid off my loan in March. Harborstone reported to the credit bureaus that I was 180 days late on my last payment! Which was actually early and a PAYOFF! Destroyed my credit and dropped from a credit score of 825 to 650. They acknowledged that there was a glitch in their system and everyone who had paid off loans got reported as paying late. They claim to be trying to fix the problem however my disputes with the credit bureaus are coming back that nothing has changed and that Harborstone has certified that their reporting was correct. All Harborstone says is that they're working on it. RUN away from this place! read more

I've been with them for years, and I am gong to change Credit Unions. Getting a hold of someone is kind of a Night mare, but the biggest reason is that that hold on to your direct deposits for 3 days. They've been getting the direct deposits from the same company for 8 years and yet they still feel that they need to wait. What I remember savings to be, is that YOUR money built interest because banks used it to invest. Now they just use the word "dormant" and take it? Got stuck with a car loan through them from a dealer I purchased from. It's been 3 months and I have had to call in my payment every month because their online payment account setup keeps failing. Forget trying to find out anything online. I have a feeling they just want to get people so frustrated they just cave and pay the $14 "payment convenience fee" every month. I've called in and managed to get them to waive it twice, but I still don't have a resolution on how I am supposed to set up auto pay with them. Used secure messaging to have concerns addressed, as I'm not close to their branches, and the ticket was closed out before being addressed. Talk about having zero understanding of different situations, and that not everyone can go into a branch, and not everyone can/wants to reach out to their abusive former spouses. I have nothing but praise with the business I"ve done with them from a large home equity loan to lots of questions about something I didn't understand. I started banking here when my parents helped me open my account at the Lakewood branch--so I ignorantly put up with unnecessary hardships. Have also put up with poor customer service due to multiple access across many locations. We had an account with HCU for 33 years, and we just had the account closed a week ago. HCU was the best financial institution for a long time in my opinion, and that is why we kept the account open even though we moved around a lot due to military service. I, however, noticed the service wasn't good as used to be. For example, I called a couple of times to inquire about the CD offering 5 % for new money over 5K. The MSRs assumed that we didn't have the 5K. She said to me that it has to be 5K and over. I was wondering why I have to explain to her that we have the $$$. This is the most incompetent financial institution I have ever dealt with. I tried to open a normal run-of-the-mill guardianship account for my son and they refused to do this. I asked if they do guardianship accounts and they said yes, but wouldn't do mine because my son is an adult. Mind you, I have all court papers appointing me guardian of my son's financial affairs. Recently, I took some documents to be notarized. They were your everyday trust documents that were prepared by my attorney. The notary refused to notarize my documents even though I am a customer of this branch and had my ID with me. She somehow thought a notary passes judgment on the content of my documents. She refused after consulting another incompetent person, the manager, I guess, and said because it said my son was incapacitated, they couldn't notarize my signature as being me because they couldn't verify if my son was indeed incompacitated which is of course not their job. This level of stupid is hard to comprehend. I am a notary myself and this is not what a notary does. A notary verifies identities for legal documents. You present your ID to them and if it is valid and they can determine you are who you say you are, then they notarize it. Recently, I was scammed into sending some money through Zelle for a cat I was buying from a breeder. IT was a very intricate and elaborate hoax, which was hard to see, and so I got duped. I reported it to the FBI and to Zelle, and I followed up with Harborstone to make a report that I was victimize. I told them that I sent the money after being scammed and then extorted. In response to this, HARBORSTONE canceled all of my bill pay scheduled payments. I just happened to be checking my account a day ago, and noticed that they had not made any payments since November 1st, three weeks before. They never bother to notify me that they were canceling my payments. They then locked me out of the bill pay system so that I couldn't make my payments. Again, I cannot stress enough, they said nothing. No text messages, no emails, no phone calls, no voice messages alerting me that they were going to not make payments. There was no fraud on my accounts of any no unauthorized access. There was literally zero reason for them to do anything, but cooperate with Zelle. I am in the process of transferring my business over to BECU. They will text you if they think there is fraud going on. They don't sit on the info and screw their customers. I have perfect credit that these idiots jeopardized with stupidity. read more

Literally by far worst bank i've ever dealt with. I totaled my car and insurance sends them a 40k check and then gap was going to cover the rest, and they legit refused to even give me a skip a pay for the car payment, because they would only put the 40k towards principle so my car payment is still due til gap pays the 3k. I ALREADY BOUGHT A NEW CAR. You would think they would at least let you skip a pay until they got the rest of the money, but no they don't care about anyone they just want their money. The only reason for the one start is can't give zero stars. I have been with harborstone for many years and their customer service has always been terrible. The employees at the Lacey branch treat customers as if they're an inconvenience. They even ignored my husband at the drive-thru and lied about making him wait. The only reason I kept our account open was because a couple of our existing automatic deposits and payments was still there. Just never had time to really deal with it. I've been with WSECU for 12 years and finally transferred all of our accounts to WSECU, a business with excellent customer service and I mean every time I come in at WSECU, call them on the phone, or message them they are always pleasant. Before covid restrictions their lobby would be packed with customers and I've talked to other customers in line and actually met several that have left harborstone and sound because of the bad customer service. You don't have to be a state employee to bank there, in case you were wondering. No agenda here just a customer who has had enough of harborstone and finally did something about it. read more

I was approved for a personal loan on 9-7-2023 for $10,000 with loan officer Mrs. Rivera. I requested for the loan to be sent to me overnight to my mailing address on 8-7-2023. Mrs. Rivera told me that it would be a fee for the loan to be shipped to me overnight through ups. She emailed me the different cost for the overnight shipment and I choose the (2nd day overnight-$75.76). I spoke with Mrs. Rivera this morning on 9-8-2023, and she confirmed that it would be mailed out today between 12-1pm. I called her at 2:00pm and asked her if she had the tracking number for the check? She told me that she had just came back from lunch and she would send it to me in a few minutes. I then called her back to inquire if ups had already come to pick up the check, and she didn't answer the phone. Now when she was processing the loan application before it was finalized she was very fast and prompt to responding to me. Now that the money is ready to be funded she literally stopped all communication with me. I called her numerous of times and emailed her in which she never responded. So I contacted live chat on my online portal and spoke to (Marcus), and was asking him if he could get the tracking number for me. I paid $75.76 for the check to be sent overnight and I wanted to make sure that the check was sent on time. He was reaching out to different people for me, and I was getting highly upset that I couldn't get in touch with Mrs. Rivera. After I left a voicemail and emailed Mrs. Rivera several times that is when she responded an (HOUR LATER). Marcus said that (Dawn) wanted me to call her and when she called me my line was busy from calling Mrs. Rivera. When I got on the phone with Dawn I explained to her my situation and instead of her apologizing for the situation at hand. She immediately said I DID NOT qualify for membership and she couldn't verify my cousin who is a member. She immediately said that I was harassing the live chat agents, and my loan officer so this entire situation was a red flag for her. I told her Mrs. Rivera never asked me for my cousins information and I don't know who they called to even verify me. I explained to her that I was trying to make sure my check was mailed out and the ups tracking number show that the shipping label was just created at 3:02pm today. Which mean if ups already picked up the packages earlier today my check wouldn't be mailed out. Instead of Dawn trying to resolve the matter she made it worse trying to make it seem like I'm a villain trying to get an update on my loan. She kept trying to tell me how I did this and that wrong pertaining to the employees at this credit union. Her main concern was all of a sudden trying to see if this loan was (LEGIT AND CALLING MY COUSIN). A $10,000 loan have been opened in my name under my social security number that I was approved for! It was your employee job to do her due diligence to verify my membership with my cousin BEFORE the membership was opened. This credit union can't approve me for a loan, finalize the loan, and then all of a sudden tell me I'm not (eligible for membership). Due to the fact (DAWN) said there are red flags and was literally trying to find a way to make this an issue due to what transpired today. This credit Union is unethical and deceptive due to the fact a personal loan was finalized, opened in my name, and the check was NEVER MAILED OUT TODAY. The employee Dawn in digital operations discriminated against me in the worse way and became very volatile towards me. She was accusing me of harassment to create a issue with me being sent the loan, was combative, rude, and unprofessional during the entire call regarding the matter at hand! During the entire conversation Dawn was speaking to me in a very condensing tone, and coming up with everything she could think of to make it an issue with disbursing me my loan. The issue wasn't about her verifying that my cousin is a member, because she stated verbatim that " they usually don't call and verify memberships". So she all of a sudden made it a issue with saying "I AM NOT ELIGIBLE SINCE THEY CALLED THE WRONG PERSON" to verify me when she stated they DO NOT EVEN VERIFY MEMBERS? It is self evident she is not only a bad fit for harborstone credit union by how she conducts herself with customers, but she literally tried to ANTAGONIZE me which is obscured. This credit union CAN NOT have a loan that is opened in my name, and the NOT disburse the funds to me then think I'm supposed to make payments for a loan that (I NEVER RECEIVED). read more

Where to even start, this bank is pathetic. The only good thing is that the process to get a car loan through them is relatively easy and straightforward, after that this bank is hell. I had 2 car loans through them. Their website is down for maintenance frequently and although you click "remember my account for 30 days" this does nothing and you are forced to verify with your phone everytime. Customer service is awful and they randomly disconnect with you 50% of the time. There was an instance where I logged in to my bank account via a VPN connection and they thought it was suspicious and froze online access to all my accounts and forced me and my wife to come in to the bank and bring our IDs before they would let us have access to our accounts! Extremely inconvenient as we had moved farther away and we were told multiple times that there was not any other options. Website is archaic and difficult to navigate. Transfers from external banks sometimes work and the majority of time do not. Was told different things from different individuals on how to set this up. Their online customer service chatbox brings an error half the time and does not connect. Given external bank transfers only sparingly work, you are forced to go into the bank to make a payment or pay via phone. However, they do not allow you to payoff your loan online and will only accept payments up to $2,500 over the phone, again forcing you to go into a branch which is very inconvenient if you move away. Would rate this bank 0 stars if I could, would never bank here again. read more

I prefer credit unions to banks because they generally provide better customer service and are all-round more ethical, etc. Not so with Harborstone. I'm not sure if they're simply ridiculously incompetent or actually unethical, but it doesn't really matter because it has made my life much more stressful in the short time I've been banking with them. I had a car loan with TULIP, which was transferred to Harborstone when they merged/ were bought out. So far, I've been with Harborstone for two months. Both months have involved time-consuming, stressful, unprofessional, and confusing interactions over something that should be simple (one monthly loan payment). They are inflexible, give out confusing and inaccurate information (what you're told really depends on who you speak to--I've received different information about their grace periods on loans every time I've called), and are unable (unwilling?) to correct simple errors on their end. Similar to another reviewer, I've also had the experience of waiting on hold for 20+ minutes every time I call; this wouldn't bug me as much as it does if I didn't have to call them four times a month about confusing errors and communications on their part. I've actually taken to documenting every call with them because they are frighteningly prone to giving out inaccurate information, and even more frustratingly unwilling to address the impacts of their errors and inconsistencies. For example: My monthly car payment is a little less than $160. I called about having my payment date changed to fit with my paydays and was told it was fine to just pay within the 15-day grace period. I paid a lump sum of $90.26 ($10.26 towards the rest of my March payment, plus $80 early towards my April payment) and another of $80 within my April grace period. They did not apply $80 of the $90.26 transfer to my April payment. They "applied it to my March payment" (which was paid in full). The second April payment of $80, however, was (apparently) applied to April. However, because they applied the first half of my April payment "to March," and only the second half to my loan payment, they assessed me a late fee (notably, after 10 days-- this shouldn't even be relevant, but I mention it because it was during the "15-day" grace period, which showcases how unbelievably inconsistent they are!) When I looked at my account online and called to figure out what was going on, the person I spoke with simply repeated the same information I had in front of me. Except they got dates and distributions of payments towards interest & principal wrong (either that, or my account information on their website is inaccurate). They told me I still owed them $80 for April plus $25 in late charges, despite being able to see exactly what happened, and knowing there is nothing in the terms and conditions to suggest they'll do this with online payments. They also gave me no useful direction about how to make loan payments in a way that will actually be applied to my monthly loan payments. The person I spoke with did absolutely nothing to help. It was like talking with someone at a call center with no authority to solve even minor problems. Compare this kind of customer service with WSECU's, for example, and it's nothing short of ridiculous. I am transferring/ refinancing my loan with another credit union as soon as possible so I don't have to fear that my payments will continue to be misapplied in order to garner late fees for Harborstone. It's really appalling and I hope other folks are able to avoid dealing with this because of this review. read more

Disappointed and disillusioned by Harborstone after over 20 years of banking! My first bank account was with one of their predecessor banks. Years later after repeat experience with unkind service, frequent technical problems and exploitative banking practices I am preparing to move all my banking to BECU. I don't know what happened with this credit union (was great as Prevail and King County Credit Union) but based on the experiences of others recorded here, I'm not the only one with a bad taste in their mouth. Received a promotion in the mail letting me know i had been pre-approved to lower my interest rate for my auto loan by a .5% to 4.24. It mentioned that i would get a $200 bonus, no payments for 90 days and i could skip two payments each year. NO WHERE did it talk about this have to be a new loan that i was wanting to set up. Remember, it said" we want to help you lower your auto loan interest rate". So i called in and spoke to a very nice gal who proceeded to tell me that it wasn't for my current loan but for a new one. No where in the print did it say it had to be a NEW loan. Again, as you see above it referenced "wanting to lower my auto loan interest rate." Very deceptive and dishonest Update: Received a call from mgmt. regarding the misprint. They were apologetic and agreed to lower the interest rate to 4.24. I have had nothing but trouble with harborstone. I took out a car loan with them 6 months ago and requested the paperwork to change the payment dates to be closer to my payday. I filled out that paperwork and sent it in, both through mail and fax, to the address that was given to me and it was either lost or not received every single time. They charged me for two months for not having insurance when I did (and admittedly one more when I had let it lapse, which I fully accept was my fault.) There have been some people I talked to who we're great, and some who answered the phone incredibly hostile and then got upset when I got angry back. Every single person I talk to or email has given me different information, from "we haven't charged you late fees" when they had, all the way to "yes, a partial payment now and the rest of it next month on your payday will be fine" when I now have one representative emailing me and telling me if I don't get my loan current by the end of this week they will reposess my car. If you have any other option, do not take out a loan through this company. The level of unprofessionalism I have experienced is astounding read more

Trust me, go elsewhere for your banking - if I could give zero stars, I would. I just got a car loan from Harborview a few weeks ago and so far I am thoroughly unimpressed. First, I try to set up automatic payments through my bank, but it doesn't recognize my account number, so I can't pay my bill that way. I then go to the Harborstone website and see if I can pay through there. Nothing. Then I try to call their customer service (Ha!) number and get stuck on hold for 15 minutes in the automated system listening to the same ad over and over again, and then it hangs up on me while I'm waiting. I call back and press the option to pay my bill over the phone, which gets me connected to an actual human. I tell them what happened and they say they'll transfer me to someone that can help. I say wait, I don't want to get stuck on hold again just to be hung up on, so can I just pay my bill, and they tell me there is a $14 charge to do this over the phone. I say OK, I really don't want to be charged just to pay my bill, so go ahead and transfer me. I then get stuck on hold for another 15 minutes and no one ever helps me. I call back and choose the "pay your bill over the phone" option because by now I know this is the only way I'll be able to talk to an actual person and not just get stuck on hold again. I get someone on the line and tell them what's going on and can I have the fee waived because I've tried multiple times to pay my bill some other way, only to realize I've been placed on hold while I was talking. I sit there in disbelief for a moment and I start hearing clicks and boops and beeps, until I hear the person ask if I can hear them. I say yes and they say they are going to transfer me. I tell them I don't want to get stuck on hold, she says she can't help me and needs to transfer me and gives me a number to call I get stuck on hold. I get stuck on hold. I hang up after about 10 minutes and call the number she gave me. AND IT WAS TO THE SAME AUTOMATED SYSTEM!!!!!!! Somewhere up in there I even tried their online chat to get help only to first be informed that quotation marks aren't allowed (???????????) and I need to remove those before I can submit my message. I do this and submit my message only to stare at the spinning wheel thingy for a while, which I took to mean my message didn't go through. At any rate, I was never connected to a person to chat with after waiting for several minutes to get a response. I'm in day two of this saga, and still have not been able to pay my bill. It would almost be funny, but my due date is coming up in three days. Am I going to have to drive to one of their branches and pay in person? That's what it's looking like..... too bad the closest one is in Lakeview, about an hour from where I live. Honestly, I want to pay my bill. I also want to make sure they got my proof of insurance. I think the first opportunity I get, I'm going to see if I can transfer my loan somewhere else. If customer service is so non-existent that I can't even get help to do something so utterly basic as paying my bill, then I guess they don't need my business. Long story short. This was resolved thanks to Marcus Spriggs, branch manager, however, the process prior to involving him was terrible. My original student loan was sold to Harborstone. Somehow during that transition which occurred several years ago, I never received any statements from Harborstone. So, my payments continued to go through and post even after my loan was paid in full. In addition, I was being charged $5 per month for "inactivity". Granted, I should have paid closer attention, but most bills are on auto pay so I just lumped it all together. I finally received a statement (in the mail) last month and called to close this account immediately. I requested a refund for the "inactive" penalty ( about $30 worth) since I had never contacted them or had any knowledge that I was being charged/billed for this dormant savings account. I explained this to a rep by the name of Olga. She was curt, un empathetic and was robotically reiterating their policy. I pleaded with her to reconsider since I had no knowledge of these fees, and her response was simply ,"well, we sent you the statements and you still live there so..." or something to that effect. It was a ,"not my problem" attitude and although I'm sure she was just doing her job, people who work in customer care actually need to care or at least pretend to. I was livid and asked to speak to a manager. Enter, Marcus Spriggs. He listened to my entire story, expressed his understanding and in good faith, refunded me for these charges. He issued a check within 24 hours and assisted with closing my account. I went on to leave Mr. Spriggs a rave review which he absolutely deserves. People always remember how you make them feel for better or worse. Harborstone needs to invest in employees like Marcus because good customer care is essential to retaining business. I closed my account with my old bank. 8 days went by and I received a phone call from a bank rep and it seemed to me that they were doing a feel me out interview. Then they went on to say that although your account is opened we are going to have to close it because their system approved too many accounts??????It was the worst type of customer service that you could ever imagine. Barely functional website. The products are a reasonable value if you have the patience to waste time working very hard to set them up. There is a review by Mariann M. which describes in more detail the experiences which are common place. I too was King County Credit Union customer, then a Prevail customer. I have been a customer 12 years. Since the Harborstone merger, it's been a painful process of advocating for myself to have my account in order, get my back cards, just do the basics. The phone support is poor, condescending, disorganized, poor knowledge of the products they are selling. Was considering a retirement account with this company, after 60 min on the phone today attempting to do the basics (which I shouldn't have had to do if my new account been set up correctly to begin with), I won't do this. This credit union is a sham! They repoed my brothers car for some BS when he switched insurances with no warning (they say they mailed letters but couldn't provide copies). They refused to work with him despite 5+ years of on-time full car payments. How they treated him and his case was disgusting. Absolute trash of an institution! read more

Stay away from this CU! I have belonged to the CU for 23 years (King County Credit Union, then Prevail, and now Harborstone) and have weathered the mergers. The merger with Harborstone has been by far the most disorganized, costly, and inconsistent regarding customer service. I eagerly joined as a county employee 23 years ago with the promise of more personal and individual service than other banks; and, those many years ago and up until the Harborstone merger, delivered on that promise. I maintain accounts with nearly $50k balance and I can't imagine being treated more shabbily with that level of account balance and history. The Harborstone employees that I speak with via phone on any customer service issue are condescending, repeat company policy as if they were robots, and solve problems begrudgingly. The fee structure is ridiculous. My husband made a mistake. We own that and I called the CU as soon as we discovered, via a low balance alert, that he had through bill pay, mistakenly linked the wrong account to a house payment. I went to my mortgage company (which was awesome about helping resolve the issue and lightening fast in reconciliation) to alert them that the bill pay check that they had already received would get kicked back because of insufficient funds in the account it was mistakenly drawn from. I also immediately called Harborstone and Bill Pay. Both were not only useless telling me that there was an automated system and no human being could do anything about the attempted withdrawals coming out every day or two over and over AND being charged $30 with each attempt EVENTHOUGH, I notified them of this problem. The customer service person, after being on the phone for 20 mins. begrudgingly reversed the fee ONE time, she stated over and over. When I was surprised that the withdrawal of funds was once again attempted EVENTHOUGH, I notified them of this problem, I was kept on hold several times while the customer 'service' person told me she couldn't reverse the fees again since it had already been done. The condescension was thick and I pointed out the history and amount of $ at the CU, and my hope I would be treated better. She then asked after 25 mins what I wanted her to do. I said, reverse all the fees and she referred me to a manager, who called the next day at the close of business with a very short window to return the call. -- NO resolution. This was truly the straw that broke the camels back for me. Since the merger, phone customer service has been AWEFUL. In person, it is better, but it is not often, if a problem arises, I have the luxury of driving 15 miles to the nearest location. After all the years and money I have sent through this CU, I would expect a much higher level of customer service. Mostly, I am sad that a company I have had loyalty to and reliance on, has fallen so short of their charter as a credit union. I guess I should appreciate the new certainty that this interaction helped cement for me --- move to ANOTHER CREDIT UNION. read more

I am a new car loan customer. This the absolute worst Online Banking experience I have ever had in my life. It took me 2 calls to customer service just to figure out how to make a payment on the loan. And I work with computers all day long. Definitely not somewhere I am going to choose to do my everyday banking. read more

I've had nothing but problems with this credit union and I've been a member for a long time. This time was the last straw so I filed a formal complaint with the NCUA (National Credit Union Association). I suggest other people do the same. Worst experience ever with a credit union. My son attempted to add my name to his vehicle since he had shipped it to our home. This would allow me help with the new registration and such since he is in the Army and currently a long way from home. Our BMV said it was a frequent transaction. Not with Harborstone! They refused to add me. They already charge a ridiculous amount for phone transactions. Our local CU said they would have no issues with our request. Clearly Harborstone has no interest in helping its members, even those serving our country! read more

I just spent 13 minutes in their drive through in Lkwd: nothing moved in either lane. It would have been good customer relations for a supervisor to send someone out to explain to the 8 cars and the woman standing in line in the hot sun just what the holdup was and how long it was expected to last. This experience just made me look at the Navy CU with more interest. read more

Harborstone has always been there for me for all my loans. I've never once had a problem with Harborstone and I've been banking with them for 20 years. I mostly bank at the Lakewood branch but have done banking at the Tacoma branch by Home Depot and Alyssa has been great at that branch for me! read more

When stationed in Tacoma, Harborstone was the only bank willing to give me a shot. For that I am truly thankful. They are a great bank with excellent service. I never once had an issue with them at all. When ever an issue arose they were quick to fix it and please the customer. read more

I joined Harborstone Credit Union over a decade ago when I first came to work in King County. At that time, Harborstone was a well-run organization. Unfortunately today, Harborstone has definitely EARNED their one-star out of five star rating on all review sites. My advice to anyone thinking about "banking" with Harborstone is to RUN THE OTHER WAY as fast as you can. About three years ago, my Harborstone checking account was hacked three times within two months during the holidays. I was always told a new card would arrive within 14 business days; each of the three times, a new card arrived well after a month and after many inquiries from me. I consequently made the decision to move my banking to Wells Fargo. Last year, I decided to give Harborstone another try due to the convenience of their main branch being located in the King County building in which I worked. Once again, little issues began to occur almost immediately. My purchases would go through for a while, and then for no reason, this one or that one would be declined. In January of this year when new "secure" debit cards were mailed to all Harborstone customers, two of my merchandise returns took almost four months to show up on my "new" card account. I received at least a half dozen different explanations regarding the delay. But the most egregious occurrence happened this June when I traveled to Houston for my son's wedding. I spoke with Supervisor "Marcus" at the Credit Union level the day before I traveled to ensure that my travel dates were recorded on my account, and I would have no issues accessing my money to pay for various items, such as the REHERSAL DINNER. Marcus assured me travel dates were recorded, and I would have no issues. I called the Customer Service number the day before the rehearsal dinner just to "make sure" since my history with Harborstone was that problems could occur out-of-the-blue. Again, I was told travel dates were recorded, and I should have no problem accessing my money. The morning of the rehearsal dinner, I called Harborstone Customer Service one final time; I received the same assurance. For the six days I was in Houston, my debit card was declined. My son ended up paying all my expenses until I could get home to Seattle and find out what had happened. On the day I returned, I again called Marcus, who said that he would "stick with me" until it was determined what had happened, and his supervisor (never a name) as well as his supervisor's supervisor (also always nameless) were also involved. After hearing nothing back regarding what had happened, in the weeks that followed I called and spoke with Supervisor Heather in Card Service. Never heard back. My last attempt was a conversation with Supervisor Cindy, who I believe was also in Customer Service. I have never heard or received any kind of explanation from any of these five "supervisors" regarding what had gone wrong. Again, my recommendation to anyone considering opening accounts with Harborstone Credit Union would be to RUN unless you enjoy countless unpredictable and unexplainable problems, no accountability on the part of Harborstone, and the most appalling customer service ever. read more
