Heritage Bank is an absolute nightmare to deal with, and they have been since 2018, when I was…read moreforced to carry an HSA account with them due to the choice of my former employer. After leaving this employer last year, Heritage Bank has refused to return the funds in the account or to close it despite repeated requests. They also will not transfer the funds despite my following their lengthy process to verify my external banking information. Not only will they not close the account, but they stated they will only transfer my funds to another Heritage Bank account! I have no such account because I prefer a functional institution with decent customer service. If you have a choice and are not stuck with them due to an employer, don't do it! There are many fine local credit unions in the area who will not make life miserable.

It's a tad more cumbersome in some ways than the "big banks" - they don't have lobby deposit slips for example, and the drive thru can be a tad slower than some other banks - but the friendly helpful attitudes more than make up for any of the very minor inconveniences. The Yelp reviews are out of date. There wait time to see a teller was short. I went there about…read more11 AM on 12-20-2022 and there were at least six people ahead of me plus the two at the teller windows. A third employee pulled one person from the line who had a simple one check deposit to make. End result was I waited about 10 minutes which I think is no big deal. The teller was very pleasant, thorough, and efficient. (Also, I went inside, but if you use the drive through, it does have a roof.)
