It took about half an hour to get our harnesses on and get shuttled to the bridge walk site. We spent about an hour walking the bridge one way and the shuttle picked us up at the opposite end. Our guide was Pete and he was full of bridge knowledge. He snapped a photo for us too. Most importantly, I also felt safe the entire time. The tour runs rain or shine. No refunds. We got lucky and it was clear skies (a little windy) for our 9:30am tour, but the 11am definitely got a bit wet later that day. Definitely a check off the bucket list while you're at New River Gorge NP!

Told my sister she needed to have better control of her kid, again who is 3 years old with AUTISM! (He only yelled a couple of times) the tour guide Kept giving dirty looks and followed us out shaking his head when confronted got in the step dad's face using profanity and thats when he said to have better control over him. Very disappointed i wasted money especially for nothing more than a 10 minute tour. Also my sister who is doing EVERYTHING she possibly can to find things to enjoy with him.being left in tears and made to feel like a terrible mom should NOT have happened or insinuated by such a so called family friendly place! The flight itself was awesome, I didn't feel sick or uneasy (which can happen to me sometimes). The views were incredible. I cannot wait to go back and do it again. I would like to even take my children. I appreciate Ashley and Bill talking me through the process and making me feel some comfortable and making this an experience I will never forget.

This adventure gets 10 stars on a 5 star rating chart...On our annual girls trip this year(August…read more27-31), we choose stay at Adventures on The Gorge and participate in some adrenaline pumping adventures. Two of the ladies in the group could not participate in the white water river rafting the first day and while out exploring Fayetteville, saw the Ride in a Bi-Plane sign. They looked at each other said "we are going on a different adrenaline pumping adventure"! They both went up and came back to the resort with such enthusiasm, I just knew I had to take a ride myself. Chris the pilot was very accommodating and was able to fit me in. From the moment I was seated in the plane and Chris went over all of the safety instructions and strapped me in, I knew this was going to be exciting. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and I can say I was a bit nervous. But once Chris explained what was going to happen, I was relaxed and looking forward to what has always been a dream of mine to do. Once up in the air, Chris asks how much you would like to experience and what you think you can handle and then gives you a little test by pulling the plane upwards and seeing how that feels. He had me.....I wanted all of what that plane could do. It was the most thrilling experience I have ever had and I was very sad when the flight came to an end. Needless to say, back on the ground and back at our cabin, I was still flying high from the adrenaline and three of the other ladies decided to try it also. So the next day we went back out to the field and they also rode. I have attached a photo of our group and the smiles petty much say it all. Thank you Wild Blue Adventures for the life changing adrenaline ride of my life! I hope I can find my way back there again for at least one more ride for an hour or however long Chris can keep that plane in the air.

We found it by chance as we…read morewere doing the scenic driving tour that the park ranger recommended (there is an audio that you can play doing this drive on the NPS app). It's marked as moderate to strenuous. We walked up the right side of the trail to see the huge rock formations, but looks like this trail is made for climbers! We saw all sorts of chalk marks and hooks. We also did explore the left side of the trail. There is a staircase made of big rocks, and then, there was a rope to climb, but it had been raining and we were with our kids and didn't really have proper gear, so we climb up it. According to the reviews on the All Trails app, there is a view? Pro tip: Download the NPS parks app and tap on the New River Gorge Park page and tap on Fayetteville area hikes. This trail is marked just Bridge Trail, despite the trailhead marker sign. Lots of info on parks in general! And you'll also find the audio of the driving tour that we did. What an amazing site in the National Park. This is an abandoned town from the early to mid 1900's…read morethat had quite the past. They do an excellent job of explaining the buildings and life when it was a booming steam engine railroad town. Take your time visiting the area. I could believe that it is an active Amtrak site today.

What an amazing place to stop and try to imagine this was once a place bustling with people…read moreworking, traveling, living .. it's so small and empty now that only the pictures can tell the tale! They did a good job putting up information and learned so much about what it was like to work here for the railroads way back when. It's incredible how times change, things become more efficient, jobs are reduced, and eventually eliminated. I spent a total of an hour and 15 minutes here for reference. There is a gift shop where I got my usual souvenir magnet, but there are other neat things here as well! I was tempted to buy the "dining on the railway" book (or a name something like that). A great piece of history here and I hope someday the interiors of the buildings can be brought up to code and replicated to look how they did in their heyday so we can get a real feel of walking into the businesses (also a rebuild of the Lafayette Hotel would be amazing, even if just a smaller scale). I'm glad what is there has been preserved by the NPS! I have to say, I left West Virginia with a treasure trove of history!

After taking a tour of the historic town of Thurmond, located at the Thurmond Depot (they do tours…read moredaily at 11 am), we came across Dunloup Falls just down the road. Coincidentally, we were planning to hit up some waterfalls as part of the Waterfall Trail of WV and to our delight, Dunloup Falls was one of the falls on the list. Dunloup Falls is located along Route 25, do as you're coming out of Thurmond, you'll come across a pull off to your left. You have enough room to park and no need to hike it. You can enjoy from the road or walk down a little to get closer. It had been raining for the last couple of days prior, so the falls was just gushing with life! Waterfalls are just a sight to see, big or small, trickling or gushing! If you happen to explore Thurmond, definitely don't miss this gem on the way out!
