It took about half an hour to get our harnesses on and get shuttled to the bridge walk site. We spent about an hour walking the bridge one way and the shuttle picked us up at the opposite end. Our guide was Pete and he was full of bridge knowledge. He snapped a photo for us too. Most importantly, I also felt safe the entire time. The tour runs rain or shine. No refunds. We got lucky and it was clear skies (a little windy) for our 9:30am tour, but the 11am definitely got a bit wet later that day. Definitely a check off the bucket list while you're at New River Gorge NP!

While we decided to just stick with hiking, the national park offers rafting, fishing, hunting, and bridge walking. The canyon rim visitor center was packed with useful information and history, the staff were friendly and helped us map out our day. This national park has free entry which was a nice bonus! If you're camping go early because you can't reserve campsites and they fill up fast. We couldn't find a spot for the first night and ended up having to stay at a paid campground outside the park. The second night we found a spot at Meadow Creek campground, it's an open field surrounded by trees. Don't miss the waterfall or the old railroad town of Thurmond! Those were the highlights of our trip.

The newest National Park!…read more We did the Bridge Walk and drove the Fayette station road. Both highly recommended! You'll cover all angles of the bridge (well, not an aerial view) by doing both. The bridge walk was a unique, bucket list experience and the 8 mile one way drive was very picturesque. I wish we had time to do the whitewater rafting. It's class 4, so if you're inexperienced you definitely need an outfitter and a guide. Next time! Make sure you visit the Canyon Rim visitor center too which has an epic view of the bridge and canyon in back!

The flight itself was awesome, I didn't feel sick or uneasy (which can happen to me sometimes). The views were incredible. I cannot wait to go back and do it again. I would like to even take my children. I appreciate Ashley and Bill talking me through the process and making me feel some comfortable and making this an experience I will never forget.

Two of the ladies in the group could not participate in the white water river rafting the first day and while out exploring Fayetteville, saw the Ride in a Bi-Plane sign. They looked at each other said "we are going on a different adrenaline pumping adventure"! They both went up and came back to the resort with such enthusiasm, I just knew I had to take a ride myself. Chris the pilot was very accommodating and was able to fit me in. From the moment I was seated in the plane and Chris went over all of the safety instructions and strapped me in, I knew this was going to be exciting. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and I can say I was a bit nervous. But once Chris explained what was going to happen, I was relaxed and looking forward to what has always been a dream of mine to do. Once up in the air, Chris asks how much you would like to experience and what you think you can handle and then gives you a little test by pulling the plane upwards and seeing how that feels. He had me.....I wanted all of what that plane could do. It was the most thrilling experience I have ever had and I was very sad when the flight came to an end. Needless to say, back on the ground and back at our cabin, I was still flying high from the adrenaline and three of the other ladies decided to try it also. So the next day we went back out to the field and they also rode. I have attached a photo of our group and the smiles petty much say it all. Thank you Wild Blue Adventures for the life changing adrenaline ride of my life! I hope I can find my way back there again for at least one more ride for an hour or however long Chris can keep that plane in the air.

You can find the trailhead to this trail, off the Fayette Station Road. We found it by chance as we…read morewere doing the scenic driving tour that the park ranger recommended (there is an audio that you can play doing this drive on the NPS app). It's marked as moderate to strenuous. We walked up the right side of the trail to see the huge rock formations, but looks like this trail is made for climbers! We saw all sorts of chalk marks and hooks. We also did explore the left side of the trail. There is a staircase made of big rocks, and then, there was a rope to climb, but it had been raining and we were with our kids and didn't really have proper gear, so we climb up it. According to the reviews on the All Trails app, there is a view? Pro tip: Download the NPS parks app and tap on the New River Gorge Park page and tap on Fayetteville area hikes. This trail is marked just Bridge Trail, despite the trailhead marker sign. Lots of info on parks in general! And you'll also find the audio of the driving tour that we did. Went 2 days after storms rolled through so the water wasn't clear, but the pace was great. Staff very receptive and stored keys for free so they don't get lost in the river. Will be back
