We went to the Dairy Queen in Walker Minnesota and were greeted by what appeared to be an employee in training. Understandably, service has taken a hit due to pandemic related issues in the last two years so perhaps we have become a little more excepting of below standard service. There is clearly an opportunity for coaching of the team at this location, particularly when the new employee is clearly and completely miserable in their new role. We received our product delivered straight to the table and by another worker who was pleasant and it was great. The unhappy individual who had waited on us was busy on their iPhone at the counter while dirty tables waited for a cleaning in the restaurant. The Owner/manager really needs to work on expectations with your team members as first impressions say a lot about their business (employee attitude, employee engagement, and cleanliness).

She couldn't be redirected to be more respectful even when I went out of my way to be polite, despite her rudeness. She would not return a smile. Here's the thing: people don't expect awesome food from this place. They expect simple treats with consistency, and a positive family-oriented experience. Being treated rudely in front of your family as a paying customer for no logical reason is the last thing you expect from DQ. The people working at the location near my home are extremely nice. All the other people I've met in this town are exceptionally polite. If I owned this location, I would be rushing to address this before it becomes the brand for my store. Maybe it already is. It was quiet - few other customers around, yet it was an inconvenience to the cashier. The person who actually made the food was fast, and it was as expected. The cashier, by contrast, almost made me drive away halfway through ordering. I would drive out of my way for similar food and treats before I came back to this location.
