My wife and I biked down from Bemidji to spend the night, and this place was right across the street from our hotel. We sat outside on the new deck and had a wonderful meal. We had the pan seared walleye, and it was some of the best fish I've ever tasted...fresh and perfectly seasoned. The service was prompt and the staff was super friendly. It was such a good experience I told my wife "I've got to give them a 5 star review" and was shocked when I saw the two 1 star reviews from last year. The Chef here is Great and the Food is the highlight! We live here in Walker and are always trying all the local restaurants. We loved this place as the Moose and are truly hoping it will do well now. We met the chef this past winter as he was running the place. The food will carry the show if they can get more help and maybe redo the sticky table tops. It is an amazing building and location that has much potential. The Lodge at Leech Lake has truly found their "groove". The food coming out of the kitchen all looks amazing. We opted for the Lodger pizza with bacon and stopped while on our way to the cabin. This unique combination caught my attention. It was amazing; from the scratch-made crust and house-made sauce. Interesting flavors for sure. Just know it's filling! We were there later evening when the chef came out for a break. Great guy. Personable, creative, and curious. We talked quite a bit as I love to cook. He gave me some tricks on pizza crust to up my game and taught me how to make pasta. We've met the owners Randy and Theresa. Two wonderful and down to earth locals making a solid go of it and doing quite well. We've also had the Lodgcho's (their take on Nachos while passing through one day. Service was great and cocktails are always great. Will be back for lasagna and their pot pie for sure. read more

Stopped in with my wife first time and everything was BLAND no seasoning and no flavor on anything. Had a bacon cheeseburger and bacon was chewy and meat tasted like it was a reheated frozen meat patty. The server said they use fresh meat but if that's the case way overcooked burger. Fries looked burnt and had no flavor. Lettuce for my wife's wrap looked old and chicken had no flavor. Way over priced for what we got. Live in the area and won't return. read more

Stopped in for some drinks on the way to a camping trip and the overall experience left a LOT to be desired....my Bloody Mary was vodka and tomato juice with no spice, no flavor. My partner had a vodka sprite and it took a long time for the bar tender to check in for a refill while there was literally no one else at the bar. When he finally did, he was just awkward about it. Also - they charged extra for the pop that was added to the vodka sprite, which was baffling (literally never experienced that before). The log cabin atmosphere is cute, but that may be its only redeeming quality. read more

Our advice is to skip eating at The Lodge, and spend your money elsewhere. We own a lake cabin in Walker, MN, we have been to The Lodge twice, we stopped in a few weeks ago, mid afternoon for the first time. We were back in Walker and had came up to open our cabin back up for the year. There were no other customers (should have been our first clue)when we walked in. An older woman came up to our table and asked how we were. We told her we were just traveling and up to open our cabin since it was nice out. She gave us our menus and let us look. After 15 mins my husband finally poked his head in the kitchen where she was standing, and talking with the cook, he told her we were ready to order. She came out shortly and when she took our order she acted like we were bothering her from what she was doing and was very short and rude. She brought our food out one plate at a time. (There was only my husband and I). The food was ok, nothing to brag about for the prices, we expected more for the price and how it sounded on the menu. We ate and had a drink each, she never checked on us, or asked how things were, when we finally found her and asked for our check she disappeared again into the kitchen and didn't bring us our check for about 10 mins. When she did bring the check she finally asked how things were and then told us her and her husband were the owners. When she walked away with our credit card she began talking to an older gentleman who had come in who was sitting by the bar, she was telling him how bad her employees were, and made it sound like they were incompetent, and that they were all incapable of doing their jobs. My husband joked and said "Guessing she trained the employees because she is terrible at customer service" She brought our bill we paid and left. Today (March 3rd) we decided to give them another chance, thinking it was just a bad day last time. We decided to take my husband's parents out for a relaxing dinner, When we got there for supper (35 minute drive into Walker) it was closed, and locked up. We then decided to go to another location in Walker to have dinner, as we talked with our waitress we mentioned that we wanted to try The Lodge again but they were closed. We were informed by our waitress they close whenever they want, randomly with no warning, just because they feel like it. Making excuses just because they feel like they can and then they close. She said everyone comes in complaining that they are over priced, that their food isn't consistent and that the owners are always condescending and rude. She said that the owners are almost impossible to work for because they micromanage everyone and think they know everything, and won't order or listen. She stated she herself had seen the owners being rude to their employees and that they make excuses constantly for their behavior and blame other people. She also said they have alienated themselves from most of the locals due to their attitudes. We will not be giving them a third chance... Not how to be in a small town.. they won't last long. Dirty kitchen Extremely long wait times. Not enough workers Try to get you to buy m many drinks so you don't have to think about how long it's been since you ordered. They need help on there pizza crust. Was there for the soft opening and once again after they officially opened and I liked it better the first time. Also everything is so bland. No special seasoning. Supposed to wood fire pizza don't even taste it. Top of the pizzas are burnt not golden. In order to achieve perfect golden need to adjust time to higher and temp lower with black stone should be the same there. Also for the amount of pizzas they need a bigger oven for the amount getting ordered. Went from fully staffed to zero just a couple people. Don't know what happened there. Seemed alright the opening day. Patience is key while everyone learns and gets adjust to the kitchen talking months. read more

Was there a few weeks ago with my husband. We were the only people in the whole place at around 6PM even up until we left. The owner was there along with the waitress/bartender. The owner kept asking the waitress for a kiss and physical touch and she wasn't having it. It got uncomfortable for everyone in the place but the owner stormed out to never return. We are semi local and have tried this place a few times to try give it a fair chance and support local businesses. This was the last straw for us! I can put up with slow service and a bad meal here and there but harassing your own staff, we left feeling horrible for the young lady. I can't support a business like this. read more

Don't even bother stopping. Lazy workers, waited half hour to even get our drinks. Out of French fries, tator tots, coors light, popcorn shrimp, angry orchard! They should have closed. Owner is RUDE and said that we as customers were the problem. Can't comment on food, went somewhere else to eat. Won't be back there ever. read more

We tried The Lodge tonight for the first time. Wanted to order the bone in chicken wings & pretzel bites, they were out of both! Decided on the walleye basket to share. Each of us took one bite, it was awful! We couldn't eat it! We were offered to order something else from the owner but were afraid that the kitchen would do something to it! Would not take the charge off bill! So was charged $17.00 for fish that was rotten! Also charged us for 2 beverages that was listed as included on the kids menu! The waitress was good, and felt bad that the owner made us pay for the fish! read more

Stopped in for a beer to see new place. Took awhile to get greeted at bar and when placed order, decided to wash glasses that weren't even needed. Saw a lot of frustrated ppl waiting for servers which there seemed to be enough. Didn't try food, understand new place but nice to be acknowledged at least within timely matter. read more
