Look here, I'm from Nevada and I got to say this place was amazing and thick crust is the go to for your pizzas

As a vegetarian, I try to be flexible and realistic when I eat out, especially at more casual places. Sadly, my recent visit to Benson's Eating and Drinking in Walker was disappointing. When I asked if they had a black bean patty, the server told me they are not "fancy" like that here. The comment felt unnecessary and a bit rude. They also did not offer any other vegetarian options, so I ended up ordering the cheese quesadillas. The quesadillas were not good. The cheese was melted on top as well as inside, which did not add anything to the dish. Other than that, the service was okay, but the lack of simple vegetarian choices and the attitude toward my request made the whole visit underwhelming. I hope Benson's can add a few easy vegetarian options and train the staff to handle these requests with more care. read more

We (husband and I) came here for lunch at 11:30 on a Saturday. It wasn't very busy, and our waitress was promptly at our table ordering our drinks. Our waitress was wonderful - friendly, helpful, and kind. We ordered the French dip sandwich and the cajun chicken sandwich. After we ordered, our waitress mentioned that they had just changed the menu and the sides were no longer included. The actual menu didn't show this, but that's how the orders worked. We chose to not order sides. (We noticed on the receipt that the price was cheaper than the price listed, so they didn't include the price for the sides.) Both our sandwiches were good, but I was a little disappointed that the cajun wasn't at all spicy. The 2 things that were a little off putting in the restaurant were - 1. Most of the TV's were on boxing. It's not my favorite thing, but I can just not watch; children however, have a hard time not watching. And I don't think boxing is child friendly. 2. I generally don't judge a food place on the way it looks, but the bathrooms could really use an update. Without these 2 items, I'd give them 4 stars. read more

It took a long time for us get a server, but once we did he was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is casual and the pizza was really tasty and pipping hot (as it should be). The side salad was yummy but seemed quite overpriced. read more

Benson's is THE Walker staple. Don't expect "heaven on earth", be reasonable- They cater late at night and all through the day. Many choices that are comfortable and safe for the northern demographic. Family friendly, group friendly, or even a little intimate ;) Food is GOOD. Drinks... full bar- margaritas are a no. But that's me. I can always get me another mixed drink! And they are great! Staff is BOMB. *STAFF* LOVE~ I love them all- so great at what they do. I can only imagine the stress and pressure they endure as a constantly successful establishment and as hospitality workers... but they all always remain genuine, kind and professional AND attentive. read more

We went later on a Monday evening. Just serving pizza which was fine by us. We had the basic everything pizza, a large. Too big for two people unless you want it for breakfast everyday, which my husband did. Really good pizza. Service was great. The guy was attentive and friendly. We ordered a pizza to go. You'd think given this was offseason in a tourist town, the establishment would welcome your business. Not the case. The pizza wasn't ready when we arrived, despite coming 5 minutes after the promised time. The pizza we ordered was decent tasting with lots of ingredients but severely overpriced. Then, when we questioned the price, the server was indifferent bordering on rude. Given all of the above, we won't go back and wouldn't recommend. read more

Came here for dinner. Yelp didn't have an updated review so hopefully this helps. Super busy as heck but in my opinion they did great with the amount of staff they had. Rachel always had a smile on her face and a cheery voice among the crowd. Market salad was phenomenal! We had The Pelican pizza- stuffed crust which was great! The stuff crust was over stuffed which we like so we asked for Marinara sauce. They has the Bemidji Brewing Octoberfest beer which is pretty yummy and a good selection of beer on tap. Smaller restaurant with good kickbutt pizza- yeah go check it out!! read more

We have eaten here twice and both times the pizza was excellent. However the service was amazing the first time and awful the second time. The first time we sat at the bar and it was fairly busy. The bartender took great care of us and everything was wonderful. The next time we were with a group of 12 and sat in "The Boat" which I love the idea of. Super cool with momentous of past guests. The waitress I think just wasn't ready for a group yet as apparently they're waitressing and making drinks? She didn't seem to know how to make a couple of them and the food wasn't quite right, but what we did have was really good (the food, not the drinks). The summer atmosphere is a think a bit chaotic with tourists coming and going and I think a lot of the local kids out of school use it as a hangout. I'd definitely go back, but was a little bummed that I referred everyone there and it was a bit of a disaster. I didn't try anything but the pizzas and they were good! read more

I had high hopes for this place but was disappointed. The server greeted our party of 8 and served the drinks very quickly. Not many people in the restaurant. We lost sight of our server after first contact. She later returned to take our food order. She was very accommodating as we all wanted separate checks. She did get a guaranteed 20%. (I know that is customary) The food preparation took over 30 minutes which I thought was a little excessive but I'm a little more forgiving with large parties. The food presentation was very good. I ordered the pizza, only because it was proclaimed as their signature food item. It was good but nothing that knocked my socks off. The sauce was not spicy and was pretty bland. I ordered sausage and pepperoni. Pepperoni was plentiful but sausage was scarce. Crust was thin and crunchy. Reminded me of a saltine cracker. Good taste! Others in party reported chicken sandwiches had good taste. Sweet potato tater tots tasted good. Place had a cool decor. A few games and a digital jukebox. It had an interesting Native American figure. The story behind it was originally outside but on many occasions it was stolen and placed at different locations around Walker. The owners always located it but sometimes it was damaged, missing arm, scraped nose and missing foot. The owners finally place the statue inside. Worth a stop, but I would order something other than there specialty until they improve upon it. read more

I was there a couple of days ago, Saturday May 18, and the service was excellent, but the chicken tenders were very salty. Every piece of breaded/battered chicken I've ever seen has seasoning already in the coating. These had a garlic salt or something like that on top of it. The first tender was great, but the other three were so salty I could hardly taste anything else by they time i was done eating. It was just too much. Maybe a garlic powder or a salt-free seasoning would be ok, but why?? Again, the waitress was great, and the speed was very good. read more

What a huge disappointment. Me and my buddy head north to Walker for an annual fishing trip and last year we stopped in at Benson's. We both came away feeling like it was the best pizza we had ever had. We talked about going back there all year long. This year we get geared up and head into town, and go right to Benson's. There was a very light crowd and flies everywhere in the restaurant. It was so gross. We mentioned to the waiter that they needed to bring out the fly swatter, and he just laughed and said "yea, they are everywhere." Gross. But, we still had the pizza on they way. Well, the pizza made the flies look great. We were so incredibly disappointed. The crust was soggy, the cheese was all over the place and it tasted so bad. How could a pizza place go down the tubes so fast? The owner or manager has to know that the pizza is no longer any good. Last year at this time, I would have told you to run for that place. During the fall Covid shutdown we did takeout here passing through. It was excellent. I had the best chicken Caesar wrap that had tons of chicken and saved half for lunch. Also ordered the steak sandwich which came with Au Jus. Bread and tortilla was fresh. Lots here besides pizza. read more

So glad we found Bensons. You can tell it's been there for awhile. It's not fancy. There isn't a hostess so just seat yourself. We saw lots of families and so it's friendly for everyone. It also has liquor and a bar where it appeared a few locals liked to hang out and watch sport . Our server was Ray. He was a cool server and so nice to everyone. I watched how he served a group of kids , all minors and no parents. He treated them with the respect all people deserved. Sometimes you'd think if it were just kids the server wouldn't pay as much attention. But it seemed he even went out of his way to make this group of kids feel special. A nice treat to watch. I really liked my pizza. They don't skimp on toppings and the crust was just the righty Thickness. Thin but crispy on the bottom. Also the sauce was good. Not too Spivey. Something has changed with the pizza here. We've been coming here for 10 years whenever we're in Walker and we used to enjoy the pizza. Not anymore. We ordered Canadian bacon and mushrooms, the crust wasn't done and still gummy, sauce was flavorless and toppings weren't much better. Crust was very thick and it used to be thinner and better. On the main strip in town, friendly staff and the food was good. Ordered two appetizers and a burger. The chicken strips were served with a honey mustard sauce that had a little kick, it was good.
