Their prices are a little on the high end (I can't ever seem to leave spending less than $50) which I would expect from the smaller size company, but that does not deter me. This particular location has their products organized somewhat strange from what I am used to. Take for example, trash bags. Most other stores would place these in the paper good section which would be by the toilet paper / paper towels. In this store they are located in the "Picnic Goods" section which is over by frozen foods section. Again, this is not enough to deter me, but it does cause my trips to this store to take a little longer as I have to walk up and down looking at what is in each aisle. If I had to pick one thing about this location that needs to improve it is their checkouts. More often than not, I find that the lines are long and it takes me 10+ minutes to checkout. My favorite thing about this (and all Martin's) is their produce / meat. Nobody in the area can touch them on their quality. Quite often, my wife and I will buy our can goods from one store and the rest from Martin's because it is worth the extra trip.

Then have the mis fortune to go to the service desk, it took the vile little woman five minutes to go out only to be treated like you were less than human , and how dare me question the over charge. Coming home after a recent storm, I found that the power had flickered while we'd been out, and while most of my electronics had been fine, my loyal gaming television- one that had been with me since my days at Western, several years ago- finally had just given up the ghost, giving me the red light of death and absolutely refusing to even acknowledge the power button being pressed, held, hammered, what have you. Being that we were going to head to Wal-Mart anyways, we made some time to go and wander the electronics section to go price some new TVs and see just how much it would cost us to replace. So we just wander on over and well, what do you know- we find a bigger TV than we thought we could afford, on sale- with some features built into it that would allow me to re-do some of my entertainment setup and open up some connection space to maybe hook up something new! But what is a night of entertainment without some tasty snacks, I ask you? So we were off to the cold sandwiches- and yep, they have my favorite: chicken caesar wraps. Everything but the croutons all wrapped up in a tortilla or tortilla-like device, cut in half, and absolutely freaking tasty. It's the same with the bigger sandwiches- for store sandwiches (I mean, let's face it, we've all had the sandwich from a store where we bite it, recognize it as meat and cheese, but then aren't sure what kind of meat's on it without looking at the label), they're really, really worth the price. I just wish they came with more mustard/mayo/whatever than just the two little packets. So, all in all, we got a wonderful TV for cheaper than we thought, helped by some of the most helpful people in the area, and got to spend the evening perched in front of a bigger TV than we thought possible eating tasty cold sandwiches and thanking anything we didn't have to run all to Kalamazoo for any of this stuff. About the only problem we ran into was that it was an absolute pain getting our TV through the crowded aisles- maybe if there were fewer displays in the middle of the aisles, it could make it easier to manuver? But still, it gets another star from my previous rating.

Meijer OREO Persian: For a grocery store bakery, I've been pretty impressed with the doughnuts at…read moremy local Meijer (although the selection is sadly wildly inconsistent). A Pershing/Persian is a doughnut that is similar to a cinnamon roll but is made with doughnut batter. Meijer has had a plethora of Persian varieties lately, with one of them going for a cookies and cream vibe. The surface of this pastry contains a whipped cream-like frosting with miniscule chocolate cookie pieces. Due to their small size, the crumbles don't add any texture but do add a faint chocolate flavor to the creamy topping. One mini-OREO cookie can be found within the topping as the finishing touch. The cinnamon flavor of the pastry's body is sweet and relatively subtle with no uncomfortable burning/heat to it. Cinnamon granules can be seen in the dough after taking a few bites if you look closely enough. I found the dough to have a nice thick and chewy texture while also being light and pillowy. Initially I had some trepidation as the topping did not appear very thick, which concerned me because the topping to pastry ratio would be way off. Although I still think it could have been a little thicker, the ratio was sufficient for the most part.
