Found my new go-to grocery store! I've been on the hunt for whitefish dip anywhere in the Kalamazoo area ever since the Portage D & W closed and I finally found it. Transcendent! Seriously spent 10 minutes describing it to some friends tonight ... Silky, airy, just the right amount of smokiness. Paired it with a loaf of Sarkozy sourdough bread and a nice white wine. La! Staff was super helpful -- seemed like every corner I turned someone asked if they could help me find anything. They've got a taco bar, gigantic Mediterranean bar (stuffed olives, etc.), and a wonderful weekend selection. Can't wait to explore more! read more

I have ambivalent feelings about this Hardings store. The quality of the goods, particularly in the frozen department, can't be beat. And the store itself and neighboring parking lot are clean, with the store not so huge that you can get lost. But, having had my right knee replaced recently, I am not as mobile as I was before. Some weeks after the surgery, finally free of the walker, we had occasion to park on the far east part of the parking lot. Trying to enter the store on that side, I was confronted with a severely inclined sidewalk near the entry. And I observed the store had no electric shopping cart for me to use. And the last two times I've been in the store, I've been short changed several dollars by the checkout clerk. I always check my receipt to make certain I've been charged correctly (several experiences at Wal Mart having checkout clerks adding bogus items to the bill has led me to routinely check receipts). The first time I was given 2 dollars too little; the second time I was short changed 4 dollars. Each time I turned back to the clerk and said, "You short changed me." Each time, without looking at the receipt, the clerk handed me the correct number of dollars that were missing. And those two experiences lead me to wonder whether it was accidental or not. read more

Having recently moved I have been on a search for a new grocery store. The Hardings in Woodbridge Hills is the closest to my new home. Over the past month I have shopped there. I love the deli; however, the rest of the store just didn't appeal to me. It's a small Hardings and they don't stock a lot of variety of products. I was amazed how small the produce selection was. Plus I noticed that some of the typical items I buy - milk, cheese, yogurt and others - were more expensive than my previous store. I'll continue my quest to find the perfect grocery store for me. read more

What a great store. I was greeted as I ended the store by a smiling, happy cashier. The store was very bright and clean and well stocked when I went to the deli I noticed lots of great hot food options, and lots of smiles. The Produce Department was very fresh and inviting. The bakery had lots of baked goods for sale and an amazing donut selection. I would highly recommend this store. read more

They like playing mind games. Prices too high. Not very friendly. No one smiles. Plus u have to go out the far entrance. Im disabled.

I like this Harding's Market because of the easy parking and overall cleanliness of the place compared to other Hardings. The staff is friendly and easy to talk to. The only frustrating thing is that their meat market, especially the seafood, can be a hit or miss. They also can run out of stock pretty quickly when they have a good deal. Additionally, sometimes I have to wait 5+ minutes for a staff member to come to the meat counter. They have the basic necessities and many brand name products. I do like how the bag boys/girls offer the service of wheeling your groceries out to your car. read more

me and my friend went to this store for the first time yesterday... we were immediately greeted by a gentleman that showed us pictures of these kids that supposedly stole for the store. he proceeded to ask us if that was us just because of the kid in the pictures hairstyle. keep in mind my friend and i are black and the kids he showed us were very clearly white kids. he asked us what school we went to so we told him we graduated last year and it didn't even match where the kids in the picture go to school. this man was in such a rush to get us out of the store and the whole time were were in the store he was watching us. we then went to get silverware for our food and here he comes again and says "come on guys you guys are killing me, you have to pay for that." which of course we planned on doing. so we checked out and went to go eat in my car. he must have been watching us the whole time we were walking out to my car because as soon as we sat down and started eating here he comes once again and says "coincidentally you guys have the same exact car as what we have on camera that the kids got into" my car is a grey ford escape. the car he showed me was a white suv... i tried telling him that it wasn't my car but he continued gaslighting me. and the very end of the interaction he says "well at least you guys paid this time" and shut my door. we were in this store for 10 minutes at max and got harassed multiple times! needless to say we will never be coming back to this store again. racism at its finest smh... read more

This is a great market that not only has the typical food that every grocery store has, but it also supports local businesses (i.e. Monica's Cookies & Kalamazoo Kettlecorn Company). The customer service is great, cashiers are always smiling, and your groceries are bagged for you (they also offer to take your bags out to your car). Hardings is one of those hidden gems that few people know of. It's a relatively small grocery store, but has everything you could possibly need. They have a very good cheese and wine selection as well as several different organic brands throughout the store. The thing that makes this store the most impressive is the quality of the produce and bakery. All the fruit is gorgeous and delicious. Plenty if organic produce to choose from. Their baked goods are excellent. The donuts are surprisingly tasty, making it very difficult for me to pass by the bakery and not snag one. The customer service is impeccable! The employees are always friendly and helpful. They will even take your groceries out to your car and load them for you. The store is never overly busy which means getting in and out if very easy to do. read more

I like Hardings for their cheese and wine selection but to be honest they are extremely overpriced compared to driving a few more miles to Meijer. Usually not very busy and the employees will take your groceries out to your vehicle if you so desire. Great convenient location for schoolcraft/portage but I would say drive the extra 5 miles and save your money! read more

Very friendly and genuine. Usually not terribly busy so I can get in and out quickly. They have excellent sales each week and I think their sales are better than many of the "bigger" stores. read more

This is my second bad experience with the meat/fish department.....first time they wouldn't cut beef filets to the size I asked for.....this time I go in at 6:30 pm to buy fish.....the same guy (he looks like the actor Alfred Molina) is taking fish out of the case for the night....WHILE I'M LOOKING AT IT! I live a mile away and SO MUCH want to shop there....but I can't give business to a store that doesn't care about it's customers. read more

I can't. I've tired. It would be so convenient if this was a great place to shop since it is so close to my house! This store is like I'm shopping in a basement. I'm consistently let down by the selections in the aisles and in the meat department. I never walk away from my interactions with the cashiers feeling good which makes this a two star rating. However the fried chicken in the hot bar is FIRE! So good. Better customer service and ground chicken would make up for it. read more

Very nice store...bright and clean. Great selection of gluten free and local foods. Prices are a little higher but worth it since they carry out your groceries and have a helpful staff...unlike Meijer and wal mart where I dread having to speak to anyone. The olive bar is great too! I have been dealing with the incompetence of this store for years and tonight it hit the height of my patience. I was ready to pay for my overpriced groceries and got into a line that was shorter than the other two lines that they had open on a Monday after work. Already a bad start. The cashier was doing his best to move things but the chip reader froze and he got confused why. Again understandable. He called for a manager. No response. He tried a couple of things before he tried to call for a manager again. No response. Finally he got someone to help after, I kid you not, 20 minutes. She came and made the machine work. No apology. Nothing. Then it was my turn and there was no apology for waiting. The kid who was running the register took off and I don't blame him! With such incompetent management you can work anywhere! The manager did not even change the person who was ringing things up to her so I don't know who it was. I left angry but ready to call and say how great the kid did dealing with the situation and how she could improve, bug on the way in my paper grocery bag handle broke and I had to pick up my groceries from the pavement to carry them up three flights of stairs. Too many cans in one bag? Yah. So I got inside and called the store. The phone rang for a while and a lady answered to tell me she thinks the manager is someone but she is not sure. Can I hold on? Are you kidding me??? I think everyone working tonight had no idea what was going on. My days at the Harding's are over. I am done paying too much for poor service and a severe lack of knowledge on how to manage. I will drive further to go to Meijer where, weirdly, they kind of care if you are happy being a customer!
