Wow, the service was amazing! The food was very good! I ordered the onion rings and they were huge and fresh. Another person ordered the beef fajita quesadilla and it was So good! The meat had so much flavor and the blend of chessed and tortilla was great! I'll definitely be back and order that for myself. I tried the hot lemon pepper wings and they were hot! Very good though! But hot! My lips were on fire, I had to order another beer. I went with a group of 10 for the Spurs game and our server was on point! We never wanted for anything. She was amazing! This place is recommended to me to watch the football game today. It looks great. They open all time big TVs everywhere, and plenty of room. Now I know why there's plenty of room. I sat at a table, just 10 feet from the bar, in full view of the bartender. A server walked past me three times, taking care of a table next to me, looked me in the eye, kept walking, never showed up. 20 minutes. Eventually, I walked up to the bar and ask the bartender for a beer list, and she asked me where I was sitting. I pointed to the table and she said a server would be over soon. 10 minutes later, a server finally showed up, and asked me if I needed a server. I ordered a beer, she wanted anything in it. I said no, and it came with a slice of lime. I ordered a basket of chips and dip, and some queso. They have a special where you get queso and guac as well as the original salsa, but I told her I didn't want guac. I got the chips with queso, but not the salsa. I can't think of any other way she's as screwed things up other than filling something on me. And I haven't even started the game yet Oh, boy, was I wrong. I got the chips and queso. No salsa. The chips were tasteless, no salt, like cardboard. And the queso? When I dipped the first chip into it, it had a skim across the top like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for 10 minutes. Was excited to come to this place with family after trying it twice. Mind you we are from out of town couple hours out. Not sure if it was because it was an hour before closing when we arrived or what but we didn't receive our food til almost 11. (Which is closing time) When we had questions about the menu the waitress would respond with (I'm not to sure) and also let us know it was only her second day back. After ordering our food it took about 20-30 mins for her to let us know they were out of something that we had ordered. Took almost an hour for our food. Ok, I get it not her fault. (I even second guessed to myself and was thinking are we being a bit much?) It wasn't until when we had questions she would respond with "okay" and walk away and not let us ask or even let her know more about our order. (Even had to ask another employee to call her over) Wouldn't come and check on us if we needed refills or anything. Wasn't toward the end I asked for a refill for my niece and she stated "sorry they shut down the drinks already" which I understood, it was closing time but would've been nice to be asked before if anyone needed a refill before machines were shut down.I NEVER complain or even be the one to be upset over service but this time it was a complete disappointment. I got the volcano cocktail that was delicious and my boyfriend got a Landshark draft beer. He got the grilled chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce that was amazing and I got the salmon with a lemon butter reduction, sautéed spinach and grilled zucchini. We have been to Hardknocks numerous times. Great sports bar atmosphere. Most food items we have tried are quite good. One complaint is that the mashed potatoes are always cold. Tonight was the first time trying the chicken fried steak and it was quite tough. Both sweet potato fires and regular fries are great, as well as the yummy green beans. So, this is the one place I can absolutely say that that over the ast few years I've gotten consistently bad service. One time it took over 20 minutes before I could even get a beer. Tonight I went in with an associate for drinks and dinner and he called them over for further service at which point the bartender started giving dirty looks and walking by without giving any service at all. Honestly, it was kind of a bizarre experience. It's like she was intentionally trying to give the worst service ever. She was offended that we wanted another drink. It's insane that some of these people have jobs in the service industry. They are an offense to the very idea of service. First time here while staying in Port A for the winter. Nice open and clean. Our waitress was very nice. Hubby was happy since they offered two IPA's (Art Car and Hopadillo). No Stouts, ciders or Sours though. They do have Guinness. We shared some onion rings from the appetizer menu. No more than a large order of onion rings for 8 bucks. They were good. Nice light batter. Same for the Texans Chicken Chicaronnes (chicken nuggets) appetizer. I must say they were a bit chewy and fatty but the serving size was good. Hubby enjoyed the wings. While not jumbo as they are described on the menu,, they were crispy and he had the Jack Daniel's sauce on the side which was very good. Going to try this deep fried twinkle that everyone seems to rave about. Just gotta say ot was delicious! All in all a good lunch. I would stop back in again. read more

Mediocre at best! There is NOTHING special about HardKnocks. Went here for a late lunch, wasn't super busy so the thought was we'd get in/out quickly. Not so. I'm not sure what the hold up was as there was 900 waitresses just chatting it up near the server station. The service was so-so, the girl was nice but the actual service was straight trash, forgetting refills, not bringing condiments until after we started eating. We got our food fairly fast. However it wasn't anything that would give rave remarks. My order consisted of boneless wings, which I would equate to getting a bag of Tyson wings from H-E-B (probably better). The wings by themselves were tasteless, leaving all the flavoring to the sauces which were very plain too. The Knockout sauce is straight B.S. and not spicy at all, the Honey Sriracha is far too sweet. The Spicy Asian was the only decent one, though it was too sweet as well. All the sauces (not sure if house made), all taste like they use the same base and all are way too sweet. We also got a Tailgate burger. Supposed to come with a fried egg and an onion ring. The burger was somewhat dry, the egg was overcooked and did not run and they didn't put the onion ring on it (they brought it out separately like 10 minutes later, at it was soggy and again tasteless). On the bright-side, if you like the Sports Bar atmosphere this is a good place. Lot's of TV's, ample seating. But, you have to love overpriced Budweiser products (woo-dee-f*in-hoo). Honestly, nobody drank that sh!t before they went woke. It's a great tourist trap. Let the weekenders keep the business up. I'm all about supporting local businesses but I've waited several years to go here, and I can wait several more to go back. read more

2nd visit for a corn hole tournament and let me say the night was filled with excitement! Great food and the desserts were too die for! Staff was a bit lazy in the sense of keeping the area tidy. I get it was windy last night, but even I lifted a few napkins off the floor after wind gusts from the front door opening was an effort that they were no where near! I ordered a few snacks while watching the tournament and not once was I offered a refill on my drink nor were my plates ever cleared. Mind you my ordering was 3x in 45 min intervals and I stayed for about 5 hours! At the end of the night the waitress gave me the neighboring tables ticket to Pay and I had to address the issue to get corrected. Overall we had fun. Visiting area with family, looking for a place to eat (that was still open, since most places close by 8-9pm. Found this location on yelp, and although it only had 3 stars, thought we might have a better experience. Took about 15 minutes to be seated, got drinks at bar to pass time. We ordered apps, and food. Received drinks & apps, then were told, kitchen was not allowing any more food orders, for 20 minutes. We could see the kitchen and there were about 5 people, standing around, orders waiting at window. Guys in back just messing around. Place was not packed, people still arriving and being sat, and provided a menu...meanwhile we were having to wait. The games were on, which we were hoping to be able to eat while watching, but with seeing the kitchen staff just messing around while we were having to wait for our order to be put in, decided to pay for what we got & leave.
