We chose Hometown Seafood on the 2nd night cuz the menu had the most appealing stuff. However, the handed us plastic reusable menus that were dirty. I got some weird purple stuff on my hand and what looked like a booger on the other side - clean the menus! Check them! Thats the first impression!!! My husband wanted the black drum but they were out sadly. I ordered the crab cake Mahi. I inquired rather it was stuffed with the crab cake or there was just one of each... waitress i formed me the crab cake covers the too of the fish like a crust. Unfortunately, im lactose intolerant so I can do cream base sauces which is all it seems like anyone has, so I just had them put lemon pepper butter on the pasta. It was good, the fish could've been seasoned better, without the crab cake there wasn't much there. Presentation needs some work. My hubby settled for the Po'Boy, ps the french fries are really good!!! Battered kind! We also got calamari as an appetizer, it was good rings but needed a lemon wedge & more sauce. I drank a Cocomo - just tasted like coconut - one and done. I think the wait time (15min) for waitress to bring us a box for my son and the check after she had walked by like 3x and not made eye contact or noticed we were empty played and pushed everything aside. I finally got up and asked the hostess for the check since we were sitting near the door. She did have several tables spread our all over the restaurant, so she was busy, but if you'll prioritize those that are done, it keeps your tip high, and then that table can be turned over. There are plenty of screens with college football and baseball on them on a Saturday night. Steady flow of people in and out, but not a wait. Wish they had legit outdoor dining because the weather and breeze was nice out. It's located in a shipping center, so there's plenty of parking, but not really a view, easy to access if ur headed off the island to the bridge, otherwise traffic can be a mess for a minute. read more

We went during slow hours around 2pm. Everything was great. Restaurant was very clean. Eric was our server and he was friendly and attentive. The boudin eggrolls with remoulade a yum yum tuna were delicious starters. The shrimp bisque was super creamy and rich. OG New Orleans oysters were packed with garlic and flavor. Yall ok low key I thought Hometown Seafood was going to be a flop given the 3.5 star rating currently and location in a little shopping strip. Boy I was wrong! If you ever are in the area come check out Hometown! The food was so good and very high quality. As you walk in, the decor was giving seafood vibes. As a little bonus there's an arcade for the kids. Parents bring your quarters!! Service was amazing. We got oysters, calamari, and crab appetizer to start with. I was a little sad that they ran out of frozen hurricanes though. But so glad a real hurricane didn't come through sheeeeshhhh!!! That would have been real bad. Ok yall I repeat do not sleep on the crab cake sandwich!! It was literally the best thing on the menu. This was my favorite place so far on my vacation. Service was fast and it was only one man named Tanner doing the roles of 4 people. 10/10 phenomenal employee give this man a raise! The food was great. I had the gumbo, catfish bites (light delicious breading) , Rockefeller, boom boom shrimp. Everything was a 4/5 aside from the shrimp. Well it is Friday night and I stopped in to HOMETOWN SEAFOOD, 14254 S. Padre Island Drive, Corpus Christi, TX. and had the most wonderful meal. I sat at the bar and JayJay was the bartender moving at the speed of sound making sure all her customers were served. I studied the menu and it looked exquisite. I ordered the Shrimp Fondue Fries located on the menu under SIDES and the SALMON BOWL under SEAFOOD FAVORITES. The SHRIMP FONDUE FRIES landed first and it looked mighty darn good, I dived right in and it was sooo goood. I died and went to heaven. The flavors were married together, not one flavor dominated but produced several you could taste as you went through this journey. It had small shrimp, rice and a cheese sauce that was so good. I tell ya if I was at home I would have licked the plate. The SEAFOOD BOWL was next and it contained Salmon over white rice & edamame, asparagus, and red bell peppers sautéed in lemon butter. The Salmon was perfectly cooked, vegetables as well in the sautéed butter. This was oh so good. I could not stop now as I always finish the meal having a dessert and I was advised by staff that the CHURRO CAKE would change my life. Well at this point I was about ready to burst with satisfaction and it was like putting ten pounds of potatoes in a five pound bag. But I had to have the CHURRO CAKE no matter what the cost to my belly. It landed and it was beautiful to look at. There was the cake surrounded by whip cream. A scoop of vanilla ice cream sitting on top of the cake and caramel stripes all over everything. I let not one drop stand, I ate it all. I felt all the better for it. Came for dinner. I got the Spicy Cajun Pasta and it was not good. It was a plate full of grease. Note the bread. The Rockefeller dip was okay but the chips were salty, greasy, and stale. Would've been better if it wasn't for that. They ran out of napkins allegedly because they were busy and didn't order enough napkins. The waitress seemed careless and bothered. 3rd time my husband I went and it was horrible. We order shrimp and catfish combo the catfish was very stinky and not cooked inside do gross. The manager was sitting at the bar on his laptop and the bartender didn't even acknowledge us for 15 minutes as she was spinning the shot wheel with the regulars. The decor was also very appealing and interesting to look at while eating or waiting for food. The only thing that was an issue at this restaurant was the sizes for drinks. While the drink portions were appropriate for adults, for the children in my family it was rather large, and we would have appreciated a smaller size option. We visited this location on 6/22/25 and spent over $150! We were celebrating a friend's daughter's wedding anniversary while on vacation. We arrived at 7:15 and finally left at 10pm, but not by choice. We patiently waited well over one hour for our food and some of the drinks. The food was good except for the calamari. The calamari was tough and over done. The rest of our plates were good, once we got them! The worst of it all was the horrible service from our server, Raulphie B? Her attitude as the night went on got worse. We never complained about the long wait for food or drinks. We didn't even complain when my husband's order was wrong. Our server kept stating the restaurant was short on supplies due to the 4th of July rush? This was mentioned several times. At the end of the night, she told us not to worry about filling out the survey. She claimed "good or bad" review didn't matter because it would never get back to the restaurant management anyway ? When we finally asked to speak with a manager, the hostess told us he was too busy to speak with us? We spoke with Steve who apologized but said the owner would call us and make this right. No call but I'm not surprised at all. I will not recommend this place to anyone. Do not waste your time or $ here until the wait staff is trained in common customer service courtesy. Raulphie surely did not deserve the automatic 18% gratuity for her less than par service. Very disappointing experience. Not a great way to celebrate! read more

Came to Hometown Seafood restaurant with a friend for a late lunch and I may be returning. The hostess was exceptionally friendly even though she was working double duty; she was a hostess and our server. The side salad was fresh and the entree was flavorful. They offer a small and a large combo of shrimp and catfish. As you can see the small combo -as I was told would be - 4 shrimp and 2 fillets. However, it looks like a fillet cut in 2. used to be a longtime regular here. (Been well over 50 times) Food was fantastic 2ish months ago. Will no longer be going back as every item on the menu i have had lately has changed for the worse (to the extent some is inedible) or gotten smaller. Black drum jubilee sauce is now watery, no longer a whole fillet (they cut a 3"x4" slice out of a larger filet and served us that) every other time (almost 15-20 times) this has been a whole fillet. Steak is now very tough, doesnt look like a ribeye anymore, Shrimp nacho portions have shrunk to almost half, rice is now consistently undercooked (gave it benefit of the doubt for a few times). In addition the "toasted bread" is now microwaved? Not sure how that works. Had the buffalo chicken Mac n cheese and the chicken was cold, took almost a hour or two to get my tables food (came out staggered as I got my food 15+ minutes after everyone else and it was cold) Used to love this place, hope to see improvements. Wait staff and bartenders did as much as they could to accommodate and were attentive. Seems like management has let the place slip. please change this place back to what it used to be. For dinner, I ordered a large garden salad and shrimp bisque. The cucumbers tasted like chemicals or something extremely horrible, the tomatoes tasted rotten. Bisque had rice in it that was so hard you could not chew it. Clumped, hard and horrible. My entire meal was not edible. They replaced the salad, but when I mentioned the rice, was told, yeah I think they overcooked it, we won't charge you. No replacement, nothing. Drinks took forever. Will not return. read more

Sorry no food pics, but it was great, we dug in before taking a good shot could be taken. Happy hour was awesome as well. Another thing I noticed was upper service staff walking around making sure everything was OK, the bartender who had a slow moment, took the time to clean the bottles in her service area. Our server Destiny was awesome, very informative of the plate options and other great service peeps helped out making our experience an enjoyable one. Mozzarella sticks were oversized and quality cheese with a delightful marinara, Rockefeller spinach dip was top notch and served with fresh bread and tortilla chips.
