Hardware is an old favorite that seems to be getting better. I've always though of it as a comfy neighborhood haunt for the 20-to-30 something gay set and I'm glad it seems to be growing up too. I had my 29th birthday here, in awe of Shequida fabulousness, and as I get a little older I'm glad to see that Hardware's often hunky gay bartenders at keeping the good vibes going. read more

As a neighborhood bar it is close and convenient...nice crowd and decent bartenders... it's the Friday night drag show that should keep you away. The worst. It's free thankfully but come on Hardware with all the talent out there right now you can't get a better act? read more

Not really worth stopping in. I was in the area looking for just a gay watering hole, Saw the website said Happy Hour $5 Stoli, but my Stoli&Soda was $7. Super flat soda water. Nothing really charming about the place. read more

This is my favorite bar in the city there's always something different every night the drag shows are amazing Monet X-Change Miss cracker Brita filter Roxy Brooks and a lot more drag queens that perform there are amazing you must go to the bar they have a great City brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 3 to 9 I love it so much I'm here now! read more

Went here the other night for a bday party. Pro - the bartender that was taking care of us was completely attentive and friendly. He gets 5 stars! Pro- Great drink specials! $3 Margaritas! Yes! One of my favorite places to go on Friday nights. The DJ is absolutely amazing and super friendly! I love that he plays music from the 80s, 90s, 2000s and today, it's a great mix. The drinks are pretty good and decently priced. It's pretty small so it does get crowded and hard to move around, but that only proves how fun it is and how much people really enjoy it. If you've never been here, I definitely recommend it, especially on a weekend. read more

If it were possible to give less than a 1-star rating, I would. From the start, I experienced extremely poor service at this bar. The guy standing outside the door beside the bouncer who claimed to be the "owner" was rude and for no good reason, denied my admission to this bar after I had merely asked him several times if I could join my friends inside after already waiting 20-30 minutes on line, just as he instructed. If his hostile attitude and poor treatment towards patrons were any indication of the service inside the bar, I would discourage anyone from attending. There is no shortage of actually great bars scattered throughout NYC. read more

On 7/17/19 from 6:15 pm till about 7:15 pm I had a horrible and unwelcoming experience with a horrible bartender named Gabe . As soon as me and my friend walked in , he didn't smile, he didn't welcome us , he said "what are you having?"I asked him his name and introduced myself and he told me his name with no "nice to meet you" "no welcome " nothing, just a cold blank stare. When I asked him for my second round he looked at me and looked back down, then asked me if I had a tab or cash, mind you I paid cash the first round, had he cared who his customers were he would have known that. (But he was too busy entertaining a customer he seemed to be interested in) there was no conversation , no warmth no nothing. Then when I gave him my money he literally took the money and said nothing . 5 minutes later other patrons that were a lighter skin complexion than me came in and he literally gave them a HUGE SMILE, and said "Hi guys welcome" , my mouth was on the FLOOR !!!!! I'm from NYC and never have experienced this with ANY bartender at a gay or straight bar. I have been to Hardware before and never experienced this with the other extremely nice Caucasian bartender! I was appalled and felt extremely unwelcomed. I hope no other patrons of my ethnicity have to experience what I experienced there . I will NEVER go back on a Wednesday night or any other night that "Gabe" the bartender is there . read more
