When I lived in the area, I would visit and shop here weekly. After taking a look around, you would be hard pressed to find somewhere else that provides the level of selection and service Harken's is known for. On a recent visit, I was happy to find Harken's serving up a great variety of fresh produce. The basics like butternut squash, yellow/green zucchinis, green beans, and broccoli were all cheaper than the supermarket. The same goes for my essentials like onion, garlic, cilantro, and ginger. They also carry produce you normally would find in an Asian grocery store like plantains, coconuts, and different pumpkins and gourds like chayotes and bitter melon. I try to eat a well-balanced diet, so it's nice to have a wide range to choose from. Veggies aside, heaps of nuts in canvas bags line the aisles. Mixed nuts in shell by the pound: almonds, brazil nuts, pecans, walnuts, peanuts, pistachios; it's great. A considerable amount of local fresh and dried fruits are also available. The butchery adjacent to the market is cool. Custom smoking, sausage making, home-made sauces, and an available deli are just some of the services they provide. That aside Harken's also sells beer & alcohol, pet food, and everything in between! Harken's is also very well known for being the area's one-stop source for contractors and homeowners. Whether you are in the market to build a new patio or looking for help on re-purposing a garden bed, Harken's Landscape Supply has a friendly and knowledgeable staff that is more than happy to help out. Hundreds of hardscape products, fully stocked nursery, and beautiful displays are only but a few of the services Harken's offers. I can't count the times I have relied on Harken's for bulk mulch and soil, and their large array of stonework. Market-fresh meat, locally-sourced produce, and all things landscape/garden center supplier; come check them out!

My new go to farmers market. They have it all. Very fresh local produce. Prices are much lower than Highland Park Markets. The staff is friendly and the check out is efficient. Next door is a butcher shop too. They also have a mini grocery store and a huge beer selection. Plenty of parking.

$250 for a Mary statue? Jesus would not be happy.

From the street this place looks like a sprawling compound, but inside the market, it's less than impressive. I was hoping for a deli, sandwiches, pre-made foods to take home, baked items, and found nothing of the sort. Very small meat section with nothing catching my eye. No local items, except for some produce that was specifically marked local without listing which farm it came from. Some of the produce did look pretty decent, and they do carry beer, but it's nothing worth stopping back in again, especially the market part. The landscaping aspect is very extensive, with a huge selection of landscaping stone, bricks, blocks, and pavers. Biggest I've ever seen. Some rare and hard to find trees and bushes. The prices inside the store and out seemed very high. I've stopped in twice, and left empty handed. I find this place highly overrated.

Cool mom & pop market - their propane is cheap compared to gas station. $15 to fill up a 15lb net weight Rhino tank

    Review Highlights - Harken's Market

One of the interesting things about Connecticut is that there are a number of farms and local growers, but not so many good places to get fresh local produce and meat.

Like any other supermarkets, you need to shop sales, although produce is usually fresh and sale prices very good. But, actually, this review is mainly regarding the lunchtime steam table. During weekdays, it's usually available from just prior to 11A until about 1:15 P. Pay by the pound ($9.99). Huge variety, including items like zucchini fries, eggplant fries, fried pickle chips, yada yada yada. Pot roast and roast turkey appear regularly, as do various style wings and tenders, a fish entree (or two), and an Italian entree. It got to the point earlier this year, that I was visiting several times a week. So, no lie, I actually gave up the Geissler's steam table FOR LENT, FOR CRIPES SAKE!!! It was difficult, but I managed to do it. Not sure if all 7 G's locations offer similar steam tables. Thankfully, Warehouse Point does. BTW, right after Lent ended, I think I got about a lb of food... 5 steamy stars

They have pretty much everything I typically need, as well as some nice extras, such as products form other local stores. Sometimes their sales are pretty good, but their standard prices are often not the best around. The store's building is a little rough around the edges, but I understand that is a work in progress.

I have passed this supermarket just about every day for five years and never stopped in until today, hoping to buy some reasonably priced baby food. Well, too bad, they don't carry baby food... So what do they carry? A pretty big produce section, meat department, and frozen foods section. The rest of the aisles are loosely organized into product categories like cereal or international foods. Not a real big selection here, it's a discount grocer, with more of an Aldi-like selection than a Stop & Shop selection. I ended up buying a box of frozen breakfast wraps (8 for $2.99), a Starbucks Energy Drink for $1.49, and a 12 ounce bottle of Goya Hot Sauce for $1.69. I'm not a pricing wizard, but these prices seemed OK to me. I did get charged a nickel deposit on the SBux drink, so I looked all over the can and saw no trace that it should have been a returnable, so either it was rung up in error or my eyes are getting worse. The store was neat and clean, the aisles were spacious, and at 5:00 on a Monday it wasn't crowded at all. So when I checked out, the cashier asked "Do you want a bag?". I said "yes" so she put a plastic bag on the belt next to my stuff. Didn't put my stuff in the bag, just gave me a bag, and charged me a nickel. I have to say a word about the parking lot in this plaza. It has the absolute worst and inconsiderate drivers I have ever seen. If you like folks backing up at you 100 MPH to claim a parking spot you are almost in, accompanied by a horn serenade, this is the place. I almost got hit exiting by some inattentive or rude as*hole barreling down the aisle at a high rate of speed. All in all, this place has too many weird things about it to make me wanna go back.
