If you read fairy tales, you'll run across places that looik small on the outside but are huge on the inside. Geissler's in Windsor CT is like that. When I moved into the area, I tended to patronize the bigger grocery stores in the area. And then one day a family member, looking for a hard-to-find item for a special meal (Major Grey's Chutney for a curry supper) went to all the stores and ultimately found it at Geisslers. This has happened several times with hard to find items not being stocked in the large chain stores, but on the shelves of this small supermarket. Their stock is good; the produce department had excellent fruits and vegetables. The bakery las a wide variety of cakes and pies, and while it is not a large store, you can find good things here. Good brands, good produce, good bakery, a clean bathroom, really nice, helpful and knowedgeable staff. My friend and I were at the Windsor Public Library, and went grocery shopping here after. This store is the cleanest store anywhere. Their produce, bakery and delis are WORLD CLASS. We made a tasty, healthy lunch with my some still for leftovers. Love this store. Prices are consistently fair. No runaway inflation here! read more

Love Geisslers! All the locations are wonderful. The staff in Bloomfield CT was especially friendly and customer service focused! The location in Somers is the largest, but my hometown favorite is WINDSOR! I love it tons. I never feel rushed even tho it tends to be a little cramped from time to time. Prices are okay, but I like the cleanliness and family owned feel, so I don't mind traveling out of my way or paying a little more for service and satisfaction. If you haven't given Geissler's a try, just do it. You won't be disappointed. You don't have to go high priced organic for good quality foods and service!! read more

As suggested in other reviews, this is a small little grocery store with limited options. But if you're in a rush or don't feel like driving around for other stores, this place will do. It's kinda old-timey. Like one of those grocery stores I imagine when I'm reading a Steven King novel. The cashiers and baggers wear uniforms..it's sorta cute. They have a small deli counter and even smaller soup/salad/hot meal bar. You'll find your basics here but if you're looking for something unique or local, you'll likely not find it here. My regular go-to grocery. Only issue I've had is with the deli and when you ask for something to be cut thin - you have to make sure you check it or you'll get it back seemingly a larger cut then what you would normally get if you didnt ask for anything special. read more

they claim to be local and care about local customers. well i found differently. stop and shop ordered me a product and Mel at geisslers would not. Mel told me they dealt with distributor but would not order for me. I was going to buy full case but he said no. Jim who claimed to be the president said Mel should have ordered but did not offer any solution so off to stop and shop i went and got what i wanted. Geisslers wants local support but does not reciprocate. sad read more

I shop at geisslers because a) its location is convenient for me and 2) the staff is more experienced and knowledgable. I see the same folk working the aisles over time, they have answers to any questions I might have and are unfailingly pleasant. Their specials are regular and significantly well priced. It ain't the biggest store in the county but they also don't use those darn 'track you' tags like the big stores do. I am not comfortable with grocery stores getting a profile of what I'm buying on an individual basis. I mean, what do they expect to use that information for? Who does shop and save send my data to? Is Dick Cheney examining my peanut butter choices for al Qaida tendencies, or what? Am I right? read more
