Very disappointed with my experience at this theater. The concession stand service was extremely slow, and the lines kept growing while several employees appeared to be standing around or moving at a very relaxed pace. Despite the large crowd, only four registers were open, which created long wait times and caused many customers to miss part of their movies. I understand that busy periods can be challenging, but there seemed to be little urgency to help move the lines along. Better staffing and more efficient management of the concession area would greatly improve the customer experience. Unfortunately, the slow service took away from what should have been an enjoyable night at the movies. read more

This is our go to movie theater, we love it here cause it's near everything (walmart, target, ross, petsmart and chinese buffet, they also have a mall on the side) some theater room though are hot like the time we watch cuckoo, for some reason we feel really hot, but when we watch the alien romulus it was very cold. We always come here during the night so we don't have a problem with a line, ordered online as well. When you order online they will really make it before the movie start or you can ask them to make it for you if you really want your food that bad. I like there Plain Pretzel with a side of cheese. I wish they could bring back the oreo churros cause that one was great. read more

I haven't seen a movie in years. Streaming and covid and inflation and all have just upended the whole experience. Anyways, I am only mentioning this because going to Harkins is like going back in time as if nothing has changed for a great movie experience. There was real customer service to get tickets and they were eager to give a discount for eligible patrons. Popcorn is good as ever and people are actually nice. I suppose you can't do anything about the prices these days but as far as experience it was really customer focused and friendly. These guys did a great job. read more

On August 5th, 2025 my family and I went to watch the new conjuring movie. We were in theater 14, row L, seats 11 and 12. About 30mins into the movie I started to get very itchy behind my knees. I start checking the seat with the light of my phone (very dim of course) but I didn't find anything. The following day I go get it checked out at the hospital and the doctor tells me it's bed bugs. As soon as I get home I call the theatre manager, Franklin and explain everything that happened. He lets me know that he's gonna let his managers know and that they're gonna do an investigation on those seats and the seats/rows around them but that in the moment he'd have someone go and tape off those seats. I really hope they do something about this because my family has been coming here for years without a problem, until now. read more

The lobby gave slight haunted blockbuster vibes, the floor was low-key tacky (and not in a fun, rhinestone way), and the bathrooms were one existential crisis away from collapse and needed a bit of a cleaning. It's not the best. It's a solid "eh, sure" but damn why is pretzel cheese so much money... There's a certain-faded charm to it, sure, but also a need for deep cleaning and a fresh coat of care. The floors weren't the cleanest, and the overall vibe was more "retro dive" than "date night glam." Still, picture and sound were strong, the popcorn was hot, and the staff was doing their best. It wasn't perfect, but it got the job done. Sometimes that's enough. I didn't hate it, I just didn't love it. Would I go back? Maybe I will if it's not a packed night and I bring hand sanitizer. read more

I see I already wrote a review on this Harkins in 2013. At that time I am not sure if the current space was being used or the outside space on the corner. It has moved at least twice over the last three decades. Years back it was located inside the mall and had a top level. The.top floor level no longer even exists anymore inside the mall. The mall does not have a public top floor level as it was remodeled years ago. That space used to house only the movies and was so cool. There was an escalator that brought you up to the top floor which only had the Harkins. I loved it but it probably wont fly these days with current fire and safety regulations. I will never forget the time i went there on a date and my date fell into a diabetic Coma. They had no elevators nor stairs only the escalator. It was scary because we had to wait until someone turned off the escalator to be able to get the stretcher with the paramedics down to the first level. Seems weird with today's standards. I wonder if delays like that caused it to move and to close the inside location. Cool factor is nice until someone has a heart attack or something, or a fire breaks out. Since then the Harkins moved outside to the SE coner of 19th and Bethany and then closed that location and moved and reopened back to where it sits now in the SE part of the complex. Plenty of parking. I go often and it has upped it's game since my last review so I threw in another star. I don't seem to have as many problems as I obviously did as i reread my prior review. Granted This location is not Fancy Nancy like their newer ones but still just fine. Bonus- It is right on the light rail if that is how you get around town. read more

This is the closest movie theater to my home so it makes it my preferred one. Always a pleasant experience here. Lines for tickets and concessions are never too long. Restrooms and theaters are clean. Temp & volume are good. I have the 2024 refillable soda cup, so I do enjoy that perk. read more

Nothing flashy or fancy about this theatre but it gets the job done. For us, it's close and convenient so we can't beat that. It is older so the seats don't have a recliner but they are still comfortable for a 2-hour movie. The food services can be slow but they have a decent menu to order from so if you're planning to grab food just plan ahead and expect a little wait time. read more

We went to see sound of freedom and the people we encountered at the front and at the snacks were very nice. It was too dirty of a theater. Management called and left a message and I didn't return their call then I got an email so I decided to call. Had a nice chat with the manager on duty. I explained I didn't want anything free but just bring my situation to their attention for liability purposes. A relative of mine was given regular coffee once and it would have killed her if she drank it but had someone test it first so now she asks for a freshly made pot of coffee and pays for the pot even though she is only drinking a cup, My situation made me deathly ill while driving home that I pulled over and waited for the shaking blur vision to stop. I found my receipt in the back of my pants and I indeed received regular coke. Water under the bridge I am fine. I was sick for a hour after the event. In retrospect I should have not written this review but I was thinking of what if this was my relative that is a severe diabetic what could happen? That's why I want to change this review to five stars. Yes I had a bad experience but this experience is not going to stop me from returning to this theatre. I have been coming here for years and finally started to get back into the rewards program. The theatre is always clean and I like how some staff members will hype on the movie I'm seeing. " oh you're gonna like it. I hear so much good stuff." Etc. I wished the seats would recline but other then that Harkins is my go to place, I don't go to AMC because the Chinese bought the company and I want to support Dan Harkins and this local business. I am happy management was diligent to make sure I was a happy customer. I forgot all about the experience but they didn't. Great Customer Service goes a long way with me. Last minute decision to see Joker at Christown, I was a little hesitant about the area, but decided to take a chance. I was pleasantly surprised how clean and organized the Harkins was. Fully staffed, lines moved quickly, and they have assigned seats which is nice. Plus, Harkins has the best popcorn hands down, and most comfortable seats. Will be back here. read more

I am going to make this a short review. We came here at the suggestion of our son. The film we came to view was, "They Shall Not Grow Old". Peter Jackson, director and producer, was asked to have this film put together four years ago. There were over 600 hours of film that was reviewed from World War 1, basically frame by frame. This was for the 100 year anniversary of the end of the War. The voices for the film came from voice recordings from soldiers obtained from the Imperial War Museum. The British military army was the basis for the film. Mr. Jackson said he could of done this for the American, French, etc. and it would have had the same impact. You have to remember the only film camera available then was one you had to crank by hand. The film was incredible and that is all I can say. Since this was a special viewing, I really hope some of you have the opportunity to see it. read more

I really enjoy going to this specific Harkins. I enjoy how helpful the staff is and how well they are handling business. I didn't any any bad experiences with this movie theater that's why I continue to visit when new movies come out. Highly recommend going on a weekday to avoid packed parking lots and long lines. Someone stole my bike at this location. Grrrr.......... So I rode my bike here this evening to watch a movie, so I asked the dude working the booth if I could secure my bike at one of the lighted poles. He said it wasn't allowed and advised me to park it at the bike racks near the entrance of the mall. I didn't really want to park it there because of the lack of lighting but did it anyway. (A big mistake!) Sure enough my worst fear came true, and someone broke the combination lock. When I told one of the employees at this movie theatre what happened the staff just kind of shrug it off. They said they can't really do anything because it's not in their property and there are no cameras there. Great! That's really comforting to know. Needless to say, I was not impressed with this theatre. They should at least put bike racks near the movie entrance. Having it near the mall entrance is not secure due to poor lighting and lack of security cameras. P.S. - Whoever stole my bike. I forgive you, but I'll just let karma manifest and take care of you! We came 20 minutes before our show started and because of a totally inefficient staff of employees and an equally ineffective manager, we missed all the previews and first 15 minutes of our movie while trying to buy tickets, sodas and popcorn. When we complained to a manager, we were told to come earlier. So, 45 minutes before a show's beginning is not enough time. I guess we all need to arrive at least an hour before a show at the Christown location because they can't perform their jobs with any caring or hustle. No pride in their work! Great location, but could use some work. In the summertime, the theaters are unbearably hot. Overall, the theater is quite clean and the staff is generally nice. Sometimes the concession staff has an attitude. Most of the time the popcorn, drinks, and candy are of a good quality, but lately the popcorn tastes stale, old. Also, almost every time I order, I have to give my Harkins Rewards number several times because of how the system is programmed. All in all, a rating of "okay". read more

It's a nice movie theater. It's right behind the christown mall. There were a lot of choices in seating.

Pretty okay experience overall. The only complaint I had was the RIDICULOUS soft drink and popcorn pricing. A small drink and small popcorn almost exceeded the cost of a ticket. I just couldn't believe the horrific mark-up.....last time I went (years ago) it was bad. But this? If my two daughters hadn't begged, and it hadn't been a prize for doing well at school, I'd be $13 richer! Lol. Next time (if there is one), I'm stuffing my own confectionary and drinks into a fake belly. read more

This review is more so for the company and not the location. The fact that we have to pay extra for cheese when we buy a salt pretzel is RIDICULOUS. I don't know ANYONE that eats a salt pretzel without cheese. Anywhere else that I go to get a pretzel offers the cheese with it, without paying for it. AMC doesn't even charge for cheese. read more

I absolutely could not believe how noisy this theater was!!! This evening my two kids and I went to go see The Lion King. When we first walked in, you could hear kids screaming from the little arcade area they have. And I mean, SCREAMING! So much screaming that my boys didn't even bug me to go over there. Then during the movie their was one family behind us who's three boys, around age 7 or 8, kept running in and out of the theater. And of course they were sitting in the top row, so they were running up and down the stairs. At the same time, there was a family sitting in the lower section who had probably a 2 or 3 year old little girl with them. She too was running around, screaming and laughing. All of this made it adsul impossible to watch the movie. My kids kept asking me what happened in the movie because of all the distraction. The only reason why I even gave 2 stars is because of the friendly staff at the concession stand. read more

It's sad that My granddaughter with special needs went with a group to see the loin king today Tuesday 23 at 11 am she went to the counter with a $20 bill and wanted to get a small bag of pop corn and brought her loyalty cup and the girl that waited on her shorted her or basically stole her money and gave her only 7.00 back, Shame on the employees that work there and Harkins for allowing thieves to work for them and rip off the special needs children! Checked out a movie this morning, yes this morn, 11 AM movie. The price is cheaper and there is no crowd. I went the Harkin Theatre and you pic your seats right before tour purchase your tickets, you do this at the window there is a screen to pick you seats. The place was very clean and bright and colorful I might add. I got the kids combo, a little popcorn, gummie bears and icee. Just ebough6and it was 6.50. The seating was comfortable. It's the recling seats but hey your coming to watch the movie not get too comfortable and go sleep. The movie I saw was ok, I give it 3 starts. read more

This isn't one of those fancy dine-in movie theaters where you can kick back your heels and have a beer. At the same time, the prices are much lower than at those upper-crust theaters. Here, you can get a cheap (!!) diet coke in your Loyalty Cup, pay somewhere around $8, and go join throngs of teenagers on opening night to watch the Avengers. Alternately, you can do Harkins Christown the right way, and have the entire theater to yourself when you watch the same movie a week later on a weekday night. It's a cool feeling to walk out at the end of a good movie into an empty parking lot. Feels like a small town. Cool experience that you don't get very often in one of the biggest cities in America. Nothing fancy here, but that's what makes it great. read more

Neither here nor there. A solid choice if you're just a few miles away or live along and ride the light rail. The parking is just out front and this location doesn't lend itself to a dinner / movie / dessert / coffee type of outing. I would choose AMC on camelback or at the arizona center for a better date atmosphere. You can generally have one stop for your dinner, movie, coffee, desert and people watching with everything thats available in those locations. read more

Nice place for your usual movie outing. Anybody but us notice how dim the movies are? Many movies are "dark" these days and that doesn't fit with the setup here. Most places have much better projection equipment. Update: Harkins customer service contacted me. No news on the projection issue. No passes to a movie. Not even popcorn. Just a phone call. I received a free pass via e-mail notification yesterday from Gofobo to preview the new movie "Strangers: Prey at Night" that will be widely released tomorrow. The pass was for 1 admission + a guest and was for this Christown location only, and to scan on your phone/camera or bring a printout. When the guy at the ticket window couldn't scan and made every effort to find my registration in their system, he went ahead and gave me the printout with a ticket stapled to it. Just want to give kudos to the ticket guy who worked at the window around 7 PM and also to Gofobo for the free pass (however, how come the scanning wasn't getting through? I followed all the rules.). Gofobo also gave away free promotional T-shirts with the movie's logo on it... The modern theatre out & in were clean and the air conditioner was at a comfortable level. The fabric rocking seats were comfortable, and the floor wasn't even sticky. The screen was the standard large (but not in HD) with surround sound. The staff was professional, polite, and accommodating. The atmosphere was calm and also accommodating. I used to go to this theatre at their old location on 19th Ave years ago, when they offered a free annual birthday pass- until the movie studios terminated that program and Harkins began to offer free popcorn instead. My family and I have been going to this theatre for a long time. It's always clean and we are always greeted once we step in to go see the movie. They always make fresh pop corn and or pretzels. Love the rewards app for the smart phone. Another perk about this Harkins and or another location is when you look it up on your app.... It shows the movies that are playing and the scheduled times. You can purchase your tickets ahead of time, if need be. Lastly you also get to pick what section you want to sit at. We definitely recommend this theatre to everyone. read more
