Sadly the only remaining theater downtown Phoenix doesn't get many visitors these days. Perhaps some are not aware of the 4-hr parking validation provided by AMC for the adjacent garage with an entrance on Fillmore. I wish the movie selection was more indie and that the food offered for purchase were healthier, but I cherish this completely solid 24-plex with friendly staff. It may look a little worn around the edges, but it's still completely clean, free of bad smells, and comfortable. read more

This AMC theater is located at the Arizona Center in Downtown Phoenix. Arizona Center is this outdoor mall that has been fighting for survival ever since it was created. It is usually a dead area to walk around. But this AMC has been hanging around for many years. I recently saw a movie here for the first time. D23 was a hosting a celebration for the 30th anniversary of "The Goofy Movie". They had lots of giveaways and I had a good time seeing the movie. I don't go to AMC for my movie experince very often. But the theatre here was clean and and I enjoyed my comfy chair while watching the movie. Because you are in Downtown Phoenix, there is no free parking. You can pay to park in the nearly garage or at a meter on the street if you can find one. There is a snack bar here or you can grab a bite at one the restaurants in the Arizona Center or nearby in Downtown Phoenix. read more

Convenient location and they validate parking. We went on a Monday night and the popcorn was a little stale. Right when you walk in, you're hit with nostalgia because it still looks like a classic movie theater from childhood. However, the place smells old and the theater smelled even worse. Conveniently located at Arizona Center. They even have a machine which validates your parking for the garage. Huge plus with that. We went into the theatre to watch Fantastic 4 and ALL the lights were on. You can see all the stains on the seats. Felt so uncomfortable and dirty. 10 minutes before the movie was about to start they still hadn't turned the lights off. We had to remind them and they literally said they had forgotten to. Came for a showing at 6:15 pm, was outside the auditorium ready with my snacks by 5:30, they still had a movie playing which was weird. Haven't been to a showing where I couldn't sit in earlier than the showing time - also didn't make sense since it appeared so empty over all - don't know why they would schedule movies back to back when they had so many other empty auditoriums. That movie ended around 5:50, cleaning staff didn't get to the room till about 6:11 - now we're outside just waiting after being told to give them more time. Hope I don't miss the previews, very disappointed with my experience so far. Update, yup missed some of the cool previews. Haven't been here in over 5 years or maybe more. Went in this past Friday to watch Moana 2 as it was at the right time of the day before dinner. Ordered a large popcorn and a large soda. Soda fountain has way too many options but that's good because if you don't like what you got, you can easily refill something else. Let's just say even thoughI drenched my popcorn with lots of butter, there was way too much salt from the popcorn machine. AMC Downtown Phoenix may look abandoned, I wasn't disappointed with the customer service, cleanliness of the theater. The restrooms were clean, and the quality of movie was great. Looking back to all the times I've been to this theater, I've never been in a large crowd of people because during the day when downtown office workers are working and ASU students are in school during the week. But, with so many theater screens, there's so many movies to choose from. Parking is validated. They had some neat promo items for sale, AMC regular customers are eligible for points making it rewarding if you come here a lot. read more

This place brought me back to 2008. Seats are the old cushion, dirty, and uncomfortable. This only had digital and no LASER so the quality is way down. Hence the tickets are a bit cheaper so don't use your black tickets here. Super hard to find parking and we didn't know that parking is validated inside so make sure to bring your ticket from the garage next door. Workers were helpful but with everything else I became annoyed. We came to this one as this was closest to where we left off but I don't hope to be back at this location read more

Went for a special screening, and arrived to an unmoving line out the door. 20 mins later the line started moving, but we knew it would take awhile to since the screening did not come with seat assignments. I waited in line while the other half of my party went to the concession stand. PRETTY STANDARD AT A THEATER. He came back empty handed because apparently they were only serving AMC members? Since when do you need special status to buy popcorn and a soda? Oh well, guess we just saved a few bucks and empty calories. After 30 mins of line waiting, we were checked into the theater where we were able to grab decent seats. Another 30 or so went by getting the rest of the line checked in, so the showing was slightly delayed. After introductions, the tech had issues starting the film. Like literally ran through the DVD menu screen for 10 more minutes. Once started, showing was great.... Until about 5 minutes from the end of the movie when the screen cut to black. People had to use their phone flashlights to navigate out, because the theater lights didn't come back on. I just visited this theater on Friday night for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour movie. This location is far for me but when I bought the tickets two months ago this was the only location that still had some tickets available. We parked in the garage, paid $16, and the walk from the garage to the theater is about 5 minutes. We entered and there was a small line at the entrance waiting to be let in. The line moved quickly and the worker scanned our tickets and gave us each a TS poster. We quickly got in line for the concessions and this line also moved fast. We purchased one TS popcorn bucket and one large cup. Total: $30. I wanted the pink tin but that was sold out. The worker was friendly and fast. The drink station was a hot mess. People were cutting the non existent line and it was pretty messy with lids and straws thrown around. I had originally filled our cup up with soda but when I went to try it, it was flat and nasty. I dumped it out and got an icee instead - that was yummy. We walked towards our theater and waited to be let in as they were still cleaning it when we arrived. Waited about 15 minutes and finally they started letting everyone in. The theater room was huge and almost every seat was occupied. I was upset to see they still had old style seats and these did not recline. I guess I'm just now used to the upgraded theater seats. These got to be uncomfortable about 1.5 hours in. The movie was great and everyone treated it like a real live concert. People were dancing, screaming, cheering, and waving their hands. Half way through, the fire alarm went off and panic followed. The movie was cut off and the alarms started going off. People did not know hot to act and started running out the doors. I knew to remain calm and followed the line of people out the door. As we were heading out the theater room, the intercom came on and the worker claimed that it was a false alarm and someone pulled it. We were OK to return to our seats and the movie would continue. We sat back down and the movie resumed. We ended up leaving the theater close to 1am and it had started at 9:30pm... The bathrooms were super dirty but not sure if they are always like this or if they were just like this on this night since it was a busy night for them. The staff we interacted with were nice and seemed to be happy they were there. The theater looks very outdated and has old looking fixtures.. maybe needs an upgrade? We came here to see Inside Out 2 and we had a lovely time. The theatre was clean and the chairs were as comfortable as they can be. Next time I'll have to try the popcorn! I docked a star off because the parking garage right next to the theater doesn't have a direct entrance so you have to walk pretty far to find the right door. Make sure you bring your parking ticket so it can be validated. Although next time I'll definitely park on the street to avoid the walk from the garage. We bought our tickets online and had no problem with the QR code provide. The bathrooms were mostly clean but could have been stocked a little better. I went to see the Minecraft movie about 6-7 months ago, and it was the worst experience ever. When I was watching the movie, everything was going great until we got to around halfway through the movie. It was a fight scene where Jack Black had to fight a "chicken jockey". As soon as he said it, the entire theater erupted in chaos. Teen age boys were throwing popcorn everywhere, and the employees came in. My autistic dog was with me and was eating the popcorn. Yes its had sticky floors and the seats aren't massive and recline. Not that big of a day to me. The value is there. Free 4 hour validated parking structure next to AMC. The only annoying part is it is a bit of a walk to get from the parking lot to the entrance of AMC. You have to walk all the way around. read more

horrible experience, I went today Tuesday March 31st to watch the movie "Forbidden Fruits" first off they only have one staff employee working at the front to buy the tickets. He took his time walking around looking for something about 6 mins waiting for him to find it for the customer in front of me then the other customer in front took her time figuring out what seat to choose. made me missed 12 mins of my movie. finally when it was my turn to pay for my ticket. It's 50% Off Tuesdays and Wednesdays. im a loyal amc stubs rewards member, I gave my number but only $2.00 was taken off $7.19. the movie should have cost me $3.60 aka 50% off, if they knew how to count or do math. but instead I paid more than 50% off. AMC advertised 50% off Tuesday and Wednesdays. LAIRS!! I asked to speak to the manager, he told me it would take a while for the manager to come down to speak with me and it was like 15 people waiting in line behind me since he was the only one working. I told him I would speak to the manager after the movie since I've already missed the beginning of my film so far. After the film was finish still no manager around. this theater cheats people by saying they offer 50% off Tuesday and Wednesday but don't follow it. I was here recently to see the movie Meagan. I enjoyed the movie, but I will say this is not the cleanest theater. There was a security guard when I walked in, he seemed nice. There was a long concession line but it moved quickly, so no complaints there. The actual theater was kind of grimy with sticky floors and trash on the ground. I can handle most of this but the bathrooms were unacceptable. More time needs to be spent managing the cleanliness of this theater. read more

I waited in a very short line for 15+ minutes to get 2 drinks and 1 popcorn. There was one (very good) employee helping all the customers by herself while a manager and three other workers looked at a broken machine and stood around and did nothing to help. It was so frustrating. If I didn't have a food gift card I wanted to use I would've gone without snacks. Parking is available, but you must walk all around the block to get to the AMC entrance, so build in time for your walk before your movie. Don't forget to go to the little machine to the left side of the lobby to validate or it will cost you. This is the closest AMC to my house, but I'm not going back. Too much hassle. Nice place to catch a movie. We were looking for a way to beat the heat, so we decided to check out Fast X. The first thing that I noticed about the theater was the reasonable ticket prices. I couldn't believe matinee tickets were less than $6!! And in downtown Phoenix, no less! The second thing that stood out was the fact the popcorn is freshly popped. None of the AMC locations that I frequent in Chicago serve fresh popcorn. It comes from a bag. So to have freshly popped, warm popcorn was awesome! The last thing I noticed was the size of the theater. It was huge!! The lobby area and bathroom were clean. The employees were pleasant and helpful. I forgot to give my stubs number when I paid for the tickets, so an employee took my contact information so a manager could add it to my stubs account later. read more

AMC in AZ just opened theaters back up on Labor Day weekend. Friend & I went that Friday to see Tenet. Then just went to see Broken Hearts Club. It was awesome b/c there was NO ONE THERE. Theater was empty - no people to socially distance from. I know that's not awesome for AMC & I don't know how long they can keep operating like that. But to be able to see a movie in a regular theater is heaven! Covid Safety Protocols: 1. Employees wear masks 2. Theater goers required to wear masks 3. I went here on a Saturday afternoon for a 3:30 showing of The Beyoncé Renaissance movie. It was so dead! I thought the movies were closed. There were 6 other people in the theater with me. The seats here are not comfortable and are really old. It's hard to read the letters for seat assignment as they are on the carpet but they kind of blend in. I found it odd that they had Renaissance popcorn tins but not cups. In my opinion, more people would use the cup than the popcorn tins. Anyway, the 2 young servers at the front were doing something when I walked up. They looked at me and kept doing what they were doing without greeting me. I waited about 3-4 minutes before one of them actually came to the register but once they did, they were nice and talkative. I hated the walk from the garage to the theater. It would be nice if they revamped this location with new seats, drinks, and a food menu. read more

Staff was I'll-prepared for "Movie Day". Concession line was ridiculously long & didn't seem to be moving. People were loud & disrespectful in the movie. Less than 30 minutes into the actual movie, a teen couple sat a seat away from me & started making out & groping one another. A few minutes later a group of 8 sat in the 2 rows in front of me, reeking of pot, giggling uncontrollably, and one of them kept turning around & staring at me. Have never felt so uncomfortable in a movie. Ended up walking out. Was going to comment to Guest Services, but there was only 1 employee there, with a line of people waiting to see them. Great value in daytime showtimes, only $6 !! Why? There are no frills here, just OG seats that don't recline, have decades of sweat and dirt soaked into their cushions, and most screens are filthy to add that extra personality! NO IN-SEAT DINING OR DELIVERY This place is HUGE. No way they can afford to take any nickel off the exorbitant profits they're reaping to pay an army of servers to take orders and deliver food like the McGuffins "in seat dining" of old that put all local restaurants out of business, i.e. AMC Esplanade. Order at the counter, wait for it, get it, then schlep it to your seat, just like the old days. But with modern prices. Wow. ADVANCED TIPS Parking. Enter from Fillmore. Go up one level. Where the sign says "Parking, left", go RIGHT. The elevator has A/C! WIN! DO NOT FORGET to validate your parking ticket after you show your movie tickets. It's to your left, waaaay across the lobby, before you get concessions. When you're done with your film, if you're in 10-18, use the rear exit which is immediately next to the garage. It's a pretty solid movie theater; reminds me of old theaters of *competitors* because they don't have reclining seats, but this means you can watch your movie for a few bucks cheaper. I like going here before 4pm because the tickets are even cheaper than usual, so it's a great theater to watch movies that I otherwise wouldn't have watched. I don't want to be paying $10-12 on movies at other places, so I spend $5-7 here instead (see my attached movie tickets for reference). I'm all for splurging on select movies and saving on others! This is one of the places in downtown Phoenix that validates your parking if you use the Arizona Center parking garage. Now, I'm not a fan of AMC popcorn or snacks (never been), but one time I chose to try their premium cheddar popcorn and it was okay; I wouldn't buy it again. read more

I cannot even explain the shape of his theater outside of dirty. Strange smells and makes you feel like you're going to catch something from sitting on these heavily stained seats. The floors are nasty and stained. The water fountain has a huge mud like stain right underneath the fountain. Just horrible. Last time coming to this theater. All of the AMC theaters I have ever step foot in, are usually pristine and well kept. NOT THIS ONE !!! There were piles of trash at the butter station, popcorn scattered across the floor, and the movie seats had the same issue. I'm not sure whether the employees are lazy or if they're just understaffed ? It was a little disturbing . The good qualities : wide variety of food options and 24 different movie screens. The bad qualities : nobody at the ticket counter (diy option at the electronic kiosk), trash everywhere, and overall a general mess. read more

This is a nice, large theater, with predetermined seating. They typically play all current wide release films, with more screens for popular things. I recommend buying seats ahead of time for the expected blockbusters. Trying to get Avengers: Endgame tickets here was a nightmare (but not one I think was unique to this theater.) Their seats are pretty comfortable and the sound quality is great. There are plenty of bathrooms and they've always been decent. The location within the Arizona Center is convenient, even though it comes with the usual parking hassle downtown. You can validate your parking ticket here, which helps. They serve plenty of snack and drink options in the theater, but I always enjoy eating elsewhere nearby. For a movie ticket, their prices are reasonable. Nowhere else around plays current movies for cheaper. read more
