One can walk a substantial distance in either direction and be treated to canal views and river views. Notably, a waterfall and pond running off of the canal are near here. It's a pretty area, and while he parking lot will be crowded on a nice day I've never had any trouble getting a space and once you get out on the trail it's usually quite pleasant.

It is a larger park, taking up a full city block in this mostly residential neighborhood. Open from sunrise to sunset, the park features a lighted basketball court, two lighted tennis courts, a large picnic shelter that has grills and a water fountain, a quarter-mile walking track and a playground. The playground is quite large and is on a sand base. Swing set, climbing frame, monkey bars. All the stuff you need for your toddlers to burn off some energy. There is street parking. They have a few well kept soccer fields with a concession booth and bathrooms in the middle. There is also a hiking trail which is marked pretty well. Campsites are electric with water and spaced nicely so you have some breathing room between campers. Many of the sites are waterfront and quite a few have water access for swimming or boat launches. If you get a site on one of the peninsulas the views are breathtaking. Trails can be found around the park. There are also cabins for rent as well as a primitive group site that can be rented. The registration office carries some basic supplies including wood and ice. There are laundry facilities on site if you are staying longer. Comfort stations with flush toilets and showers are in great shape and kept very clean. If you aren't camping for $5 you can launch a boat from the park or enjoy the public beach area.

This is one of the few places open currently from the COVID closures that has beach access on the…read morelake. It costs $3 for entrance with a car. Today it was extremely crowded. We were able to find a nook to keep our distance from people but some people were just inconsiderate and frankly dumb. There was a fowl smell near the swimming area, I don't know what it was exactly. The water is a bit murky. They do have grills to access. You can rent campsites here. They have restrooms. The ice cream truck came through. They have a boat ramp, fishing spots, a frisbee golf course, hiking and horse riding trails and just a lot to do.
