It's a pretty area, and while he parking lot will be crowded on a nice day I've never had any trouble getting a space and once you get out on the trail it's usually quite pleasant.

It took me a minute to find this trailhead even with the signs, but there are enough people around…read morethat someone will point you in the right direction. If you are not an Intermediate skilled rider I would highly advise look before you leap. Literally!!! At this entrance, past the sign about 10 meters is a triple stairstep like hill going down which converges to a singletrack line in the woods then a sharp curve to the left. You can go with speed to the next obstacle or choose a very technical line because it opens up to a massive rock garden under a bridge followed by mini grand canyon of wash outs in the dirt before converging back to a single track. Note!! pay attention to the directions of the day (Clockwise or Counterclockwise). There are many little feeder paths running parallel to the railroad so stay on the path well worn (no pun intended). About .4 miles from the Canal Singletrack South Trailhead there is a storm water waste project currently being worked on. Do not make my mistake and follow the hay and dirt on the right side on the pond, it is not a trail!!! Stay to the left of the pond closest to Riverwatch Parkway and it will open up to the stormwater project area, but look for a well worn dirt hill and that will be your connection back to the trail. Had a wonderful cool ride in the forest, but lesson learned for the day was set your rebound and compression after your initial loop for a better ride.

There are plenty of bikers, but the trail is generally wide enough not to present any major issues of overcrowding. It's definitely a good way to get a taste of the environment without driving too far from the city.

Since it is a small park, it can be a little busy when the weather is really nice. The trail around the park is perfect to use for 5k training. Drop on in when you need a brief commune with nature!

They have a few well kept soccer fields with a concession booth and bathrooms in the middle. There is also a hiking trail which is marked pretty well. They have few rest rooms that are well kept and managed with even a medical emergency supply room incase of any incidents. The grounds are kept very clean too and lots of public parking available. Parking is ATROCIOUS. There is very minimal free parking. The lots are made of dirt and gravel, no defined parking spaces. It's quite common to get parked in and be unable to leave until the others nearby come to get their vehicles. Frustrating is an understatement! Some people would walk all the way from parking off Broad Street. 2. Neighborhood not the best, not the worst. Safety at night is definitely more of a concern. 3. Ticket line is always lengthy. The stands can get crowded and there is little room to move around comfortably if you need to stretch your legs. Otherwise, this is a fun facility. I miss it often, even when at current Green Jackets games across the River. I hope it stays around and gets good use!

Where else can you go to a place multiple times a year, enjoy amazing events, attractive nature, occasionally do some late night bonfires or overnight camping, all for FREE? Exactly. I have been here for four Days class. Each season brings a new array of picture perfect scenes and occasionally a glimpse of wildlife. Storks, turtles, and beavers are very regular. But sometimes you see a crocodile or a snake. Fair warning, I saw one over 6 feet long cross the hiking path one time. It's nature people. Also, they've added a nice play area for children and the Swamp Shop & Visitor Center are open Saturday's (9 am-5 pm) and Sunday's (1-5 pm). Dogs and bicycles are welcome. So basically, there's no excuse to visit soon. read more

This park is beautiful and the paths are very well marked. No worries about getting lost here! Make sure you bring your bug spray and your binoculars because you may just see an alligator or two walking around. There is so much indigenous wildlife in this park, so if you like the outdoors and animal watching - you will love this park. read more

I've not been there in a while (went there more when I lived on the southside). I like being outside, I like hiking, naturewalks, and the like. In fact, I like them so much, I live in a forest. I really liked it there. I am always fascinated by what I see. Need to go back there next time I'm in that part of town. read more

This beautiful nature park is great for hiking or biking. Chances to see turtles, birds, reptiles, flora and fauna. The swamp acts as a natural filter for the water table which lies below it. Enjoy Augusta's nature park. read more

A gently sloping lawn flattens out by the river where you can have a picnic, wading in the river, or just enjoy the beautiful scene around you. The views of the river are unbeatable since the clearing forms a small promontory. While it is currently overgrown, the river nature trail head starts at the north side of the clearing. Although it is relatively remote, they still have bathrooms here which are sort of glorified outhouses.
