I took a Glock 17 slide with a stripped screw in an rmr to these guys thinking it'd be a simple fix…read morefor their gunsmith. They invoiced a half hour of work with the caveat it may take an hour. I was slightly put off by this thinking it couldn't take more than a few minutes. But ultimately I was prepared to pay with the idea that a gunsmith could complete the task without damaging or marring my optic. I dropped it off on a Friday and they said they'd have it ready by Saturday or Tuesday of the following week. Saturday came and went, Tuesday came and went and ultimately I called them on Wednesday. I was told they didn't have the tooling to complete the job and they would need to order the tools to complete it. Later that Wednesday, I received a call from their gunsmith Nick who said he was going to have a buddy help him out so he could have it to me sooner rather than later to which I expressed my gratitude. I showed up to pick it up the following Thursday afternoon. I opened the case and my optic was covered in tape and the guy at the front desk said they'd be charging me for 2 half hour increments of work at $35 per increment. He said that it totaled $90 so I asked if the 2 increments at $35 equaled $70. He said, "yeah $70." I unwrapped the optic and it was operational but marred up more than I would have expected. The guy at the front said he had to take a dremel tool to it. It was obvious the tool had slipped a few times gashing the body of the optic. This kind of work is what I would expect if I had undertaken the job myself but not what I expected from a professional hence the reason I opted to pay someone else for the service. After that I said one thing to the guy at the front desk as respectfully as I could. "Is the price negotiable considering the damage?" The guy immediately threw the invoice on the table, said "just take it" with anger, and walked into the back. I closed everything up and left. When I got home I told my wife and even expressed if they had called me and said, " hey man this thing was a disaster and we put some gashes in the body of the optic but its operational and we got the screw out so even though we were gonna charge you for an hour worth of work we'll charge you for a half hour or give you a discount." I would've been totally understanding. However this was not the case... I can't speak for their other work or services but that was my first and last experience with this business. Hope this can be useful to anyone else.

Several local firearms shops recommended Hickman for gunsmith services. I relied on what they…read morerecommended, and am extremely disappointed in their work and customer service. I brought in an AR-15 (complete rifle) to get some "minor" work done on the feed ramps. He sent me home with the lower because he "hated doing the paperwork for a serialzed part." The upper receiver, barrel, and (very expensive lightweight) bolt carrier group were 100% brand new, never had a single shot through them. The "polish" job that Earl told me he would do to correct a cartridge feed problem looked as if he may have been training a child to use a dremel tool. The ramps were carved down, each at different angles, not even remotely polished from whatever abrasive die he used, and worse yet, the cartridges do not even feed at all now. The barrel warranty is completely voided by his work. The barrel manufacturer (whom I have purchased many barrels from in the past) was perfectly fine with me taking the barrel to a gunsmith, and even offered to pay for the services since I wasn't completely happy with their product. They saw the pictures and were horrified, and in fact were the ones who made the first comment to the effect that it appeared as if "a kid did the work." The upper receiver was also carved out, so now any barrel I would intend to install in the future would also be required to be "heavily" modified just to get a cartridge to feed. The bullet gets completely stuck in the feedramp, and is left with very deep gouges, and in most cases, is severely pushed back into the casing. When I arrived to pick up my parts, the bead blasted stainless steel barrel was so dirty (black greasy prints), it looked like a car mechanic had been handling it. The $450 JP Precision bolt carrier was crammed into the receiver that had not even been cleaned of the metal shavings. The bolt carrier group now has a whole bunch of "custom" Earl Hickman silver racing stripes etched into the anodizing. I also visited another local gunsmith who said this is the second bad job he has seen from Hickman recently. I called back to discuss how to correct the problem, Earl was more than happy to ask me to bring the whole rifle back to him to continue with more work at an additional cost, because he was certain it had to be a lower receiver or magazine problem. The problem I have with this diagnosis is, the lower receiver was factory matched to 2 upper receivers when I purchased them, and has functioned flawlessly with the other upper and magazines for about 1000 rounds. It was my experience that they are very careless and disrespectful. I wish I could post photos!

So I know they treat me well because they're a wonderful bunch of people. That said, when so many other places in town had no ammo, Springs Armory always seemed to be working hard to get ammo. AND, as an added bonus, when they do get new ammo (and firearms), they put out a fun and informative video to let everyone know. As a veteran, I also appreciate the deals offered as a Thank You for my service. When I am in the market for any weapons or ammo, they'll always be my first choice.

You're only as strong as your weakest link. Fellas in the back are great, but Jackie's attitude takes away from all of that. I even watched a customer leave and politely told her to have a nice day etc and she couldn't even be bothered to give that customer a thank you or goodbye. Unreal. UPDATE: response from the owner shows a lack of accountability. Not once did I have any negative interactions with anyone else but her. You can go on and on and make up lies but there are multiple reviews similar to mine stating she has a terrible attitude. You will not get any of my money and every single person I come in to contact with who shoots will know about this. Fail response and fail business. Take your money elsewhere people
