We have contacted them about repairs and once a defective Lane sectional sofa and they went as far as to credit us for the full purchase price (after we used it for a full year!) which we gladly used to exchange it for a complete living room set (including a leather sofa). For those of you who don't know, this place buys out hotels' furniture when they close or more commonly update and they get the furniture at extremely discounted rate to which they pass along the savings to their customers. I purchased a king sized bed along with some other furniture pieces. I have now had the bed for four months and absolutely love it. The price...well, you just can't beat it ($122 for mattress and box springs). I paid $60 to have to delivered to Manayunk along with a couple chairs and some bedside tables. The delivery was one guy with a U-haul type truck and together we moved the items upstairs to my apartment. In my book this was a slam duck; definitely a place I would go to again. So I did. My most recent visit I decided to buy a couch and a sofa table (and have since bought smaller stuff in between). Once again I requested it to be delivered to Philadelphia. This time I was told they won't deliver for purchases less than $300. Now mind you, though they do have items that are more expensive than that (not much though), racking up $300 is not necessarily the easiest thing to do there. As I said, my bed was $122, I got a few chairs around the $55 mark, sofa table was $60, and the couch was only $38 (and amazingly very nice). I told them I would pay for the shipping as I had done before but they said it wasn't worth it. Hmmm.... I have worked retail for many years of my life. If I have a $5 sale or a $500 sale, if a customer is willing to pay all the expenses of the shipping, you ship it! It does not affect your bottom dollar at all (unless you refuse to ship and then it has a negative impact!). In a world where they are so busy it would make a difference and the movers time could be better spent on other things, I may get it. This is not this world. I was willing to pay the cost of gas, the guy or two that would be making the move, and the time it took. If it costs them $50 to pay for the movers and the gas to get there, I'd be more than happy to pay that or more. If it costs them $100, then I'd pay a hundred! Instead, they lost the sale and a repeat customer because in my book, failure to accommodate a customer is a failure in business equals no return business. I was pretty disappointed by this as this was definitely a place that had some good items. Now they missed a sale which doesn't sound like a big deal being the couch was only $38 but am guessing it was so cheap because it has been there for a while. They could have freed up the real estate in the store by finally getting rid of this and displayed newer items better. Missing this sale also means missing future sales because being a furniture store, I think have shipping accommodations is essential. I recommend the following to them: 1) Never turn down a sale because you don't want to ship it. At least make it an option and charge more if you have to. That is okay! Saying we don't ship under a certain amount just sucks especially when your big ticket items are so often under $300. I was not about to spend another $200+ on items just to hit the mark. 2) If shipping is an issue for your company because of manpower, vehicles or whatever, then get set up with a local moving company so you can refer a customer to them. Not shipping should never be an option. Say, "We have recently partnered up with "XYZ" moving company. We can arrange to have them ship the item for you. Would you like to get a quote from them?" and then YOU call them up and get a quote! These small and very easy things keep customers coming back! Despite this irritated complaint, the staff is friendly and the items are decent. There seems to be a high changeover of inventory (some of the less desirable stuff sits for some time). I would highly recommend taking at least one of my recommendations if not both to heart. In today's economy, losing a customer is just not in anyone's best interest.

I cannot express enough my dissatisfaction with my experience with purchasing a Kingsdown mattress…read moreat Mattress Warehouse in Lansdale. In our initial experience Paul was very helpful and did not pressure a sale. He walked us through the Bed Match system. Had us do our thing and guided us based on its recommendations. We settled on the Kingsdown Sunham Plush mattress was the best for us. The delivery was reasonable and we were excited for the mattress. Mattress Warehouse has a 120 day trial where you can pay to destroy the mattress if you don't like it, don't recall the exact amount but around $125. We honestly never expected to have to pursue this option but surprisingly we hated the mattress after 30-60 days. We didn't choose to pursue the replacement until close to the 120 days as they kept assuring us the mattress would break in. They do require you to use the new mattress at a minimum of 30 days before taking them up on their Comfort Guarantee. We went back to the store to discuss the Comfort Guarantee and our options. They had made it clear that the new mattress would have to cost more than the original. The mattress we received net weight filling was about 9lbs different from the floor model. We felt duped and wanted some sort of expectation because of this to make things right. That is not what happened. We let Paul know, he said he would contact his management and Kingsdown. He told me I should expect a call from Kingsdown. They assured him all mattresses go through a QA process and it "met" their testing or passed the expected thresholds. I waited a week and never received a call from Kingsdown, which was shocking. I then asked to get a call from Mattress Warehouse. Paul said he would try. I again received no call. I went back to the Lansdale store to express my concerns and displeasure. He had an email supposedly promising to call me. He offered to let me read it but at this point I simply express how disappointed I was. Asked what if anything they would do around the mattress disposal fee for the replacement or ideally covering one or both. He called Joe (his manager) in front of me. I was unable to speak to him myself but he asked if there was anything they would do. Not as enthusiastically or emphatically as I would have wished but he did at least call. Joe said they will do nothing and that we are lucky if they will authorize it that we can even do the comfort guarantee process. We did decide that it was not worth the fight and we would just warn others via reviews. I expressed this fact to Paul so I'm sure it won't be a surprise to him if he reads this. We ended up going with a Simmons Beauty Rest Series three. My wife's back pain and my shoulder pain magically disappeared almost completely the first night and I feel amazing ever since the switch. I'm glad they at least did the exchange they guaranteed but with the filling discrepancies I feel I was duped. In addition, we had to wait about two weeks after we paid for the comfort guarantee money which was around 750 dollars to get the new mattress. The absolute least they could have done was get it for us the next day. Mattress Firm for everyone's knowledge has similar guarantees but there is no monetary limits on the new mattress. You can get a cheaper or more expensive mattress. You will either be refunded or pay the difference. There is also no mattress disposal fee. Finally, they get you the new mattress the next day. I wished I had shopped around more. Mattress Firm's price was equivalent to Mattress Warehouse but I apparently would have had way less of a stressful experience. Based on my chats with I think, Ron at the King of Prussia store, I believe I either would have received phone calls or would never have felt it necessary as they would have done everything to ensure we had a mattress we loved. I don't recommend Kingsdown first and foremost. Mattress Warehouse's management team should be ashamed of themselves. Go to Mattress Firm or some other retailer. Buyer beware.

All that said, where this place shines is in service. It's very easy to order pretty much anything online, but often, you don't know what you're getting. The staff at Ebert knows their furniture. They know what's quality, what's not, and they can talk to you about a piece you haven't seen - and help you decide whether or not it works for you. I can't speak highly enough - expertise on large purchases is key, and these guys have it in spades. The chairs I ordered were not in stock, so after a few weeks, they arrived and were delivered. Notification of receipt and delivery were on the same day. The driver was friendly, on time, and helped get everything into the house. He even put felt pads on the bottom of each my chairs before he dropped them off. A great ending to an excellent sales cycle. Skip the big chains - Pottery Barn, et al. There were no high pressure sales and he gave us exactly what we wanted. Mike's installers were also prompt and professional. They were able to maneuver the furniture to get the job completed and that was a relief. All in all they started around 8:30 and finished ahead of 5 pm.
