I stopped in this place because it's always recommended when I'm in the area. It's a local favorite and it's right next to a college campus. First impression walking in was great. Greeted immediately and no line. Super clean. I ordered glazed donuts and petite fours. I quickly noticed one pan of donuts looked sad and almost like yesterdays. Well that may have been what I got because the icing was already off and they were a bit chewy. Kinda buttery dough which I think would have been great. These were also the smallest donut I've ever had. They honestly were just ok. I would definitely go back because I feel like they have to be fresh and I went in around noon. We've ordered from Harlows three times now, to pick up cakes on our drive in from Tampa. We have only ordered a coconut cream cake with strawberry filling in the past. This time we added a Gentilly cake, because Rouses was out. Man oh man!!! Theirs is so much better than Rouses and I didn't think that was possible! Whoa! So glad I stopped at this spot. Everything else was closed since it was Memorial Day so I figured I'd just stop at a McDonald's in Pineville before started the 30 minute drive to my parents. I remembered there being a little donut shop here, but assumed that a family owned business would be closed on a holiday - nope! I figured I'd get my favorite - an apple fritter - but then I saw they had kolaches! And they had them made the way I tend to like (the meat is fully enclosed in the dough) and they looked soft and buttery!! So I grabbed some to take to my parents along with an apple fritter. The fritter was huge, but disappointing. I had a hard time finding any apples and it was more greasy than anything. But the kolaches?? Those were great! So this place is not fancy to say the least. They offer donuts, brownies, cakes, cookies, coffee, some sodas and hot chocolate... thats it. But let me tell you, the Donuts melt in your mouth soooooo good! If you get there early enough you can be one of the luckly ones to get a bag of donut holes... love them, and if you are there especially early they will still be warm. This place has been around for as long as i can remember. Known for its baked goods, such as its donuts, cakes, and kolaches, Harlow's is a family friendly place that has a kind staff, and a nice interior. That being said, the food here doesn't do much to impress. I've been in here twice now, as I'm the kind of person that will give a place at least 2 chances, provided the first wasn't horrible. I won't give this place a third try. The kolaches are dry, and most of the time, the filling inside is scrunched to one side, making the dry bread more evident. And as far as the donuts are concerned, they barely have any filling either, although at least I'm not just eating dry bread that's sweet. All in all, there are much better donut places around, and the only recommendation I can give this is that you skip it. read more

You would hang up every after you say "pay upon pick up" Which ive been telling you my order is going to be a gift to someone and that someone will be the one picking it up. I came in earlier today with my friend and her service dog in training (my service dog was at home), we walked in, got our food, and sat down to eat. We were not seated for 5 minutes before the employee who served us came out and asked for papers, we politely explained that there are no papers in the USA and that registries were scams, she then went in the back and got the owner, when the owner came out she immediately screamed "who's gonna sue me?" And then proceeded to ask if the person with the dog had left. She. Didn't. Know. He. Was. There. He was under the table sleeping. We raised our hands and she proceeded to come over to us already obviously irritated, asked us for papers to which we politely declined and explained again. She repeated herself again, and I gave her the ADA.gov website along with tge specific section that adresses service dogs. She proceeded to insult her dog repeatedly and threatedned us with the police and health department who we told her to call. She went in the back to call them and did not come back out. I have severe anxiety, PTSD, and panic attack disorder and was visibly shaking and bordering on a panic attack, while my friends dog was alerting her to high blood pressure. Over all this has been the worst customer service, Ada compliance, and arrogance I've experienced in my 3 years as a service dog handler. Me and my family have been loyal customers since they opened, but will never engage with them again. read more
