It depends who's serving you. The lady at the drive through asked me for my order. I gave her my card hoping I will get my order while she run my card, she closed the window. First off if I wasn't trying to pay for my order she would not have gotten the card. Secondly I placed the order give me my items while you run the card. This Shipley Donuts was inside a gas station near our hotel in Alexandria this weekend. I've had Shipley Donuts in Houston, and they were delicious. I opted for a Sausage and Cheese Kolache, and a Chocolate Covered Donut here. Super meh. The kolache was a hot dog with a little bit of cheese in there that I ended up smothering in packets of mustard. I will say the dough was pretty good, but if I'd known it'd be a hot dog hiding in the pillowiness of it, I probably would've opted for something else. The chocolate covered donut was nothing to write home about either. I am a donut and chocolate milk gal, and the chocolate milk (YUP! brand) tasted like there was debris in it. The expiration date was fine, but I decided to pass on finishing it. There are a handful of coolers and snacks if you're just coming to get gas and get some munchies. There were also a variety of cream and fruit filled donuts that may suit your fancy, and they were promoting a "buy a dozen, get a half dozen free deal" at the time, but I probably wouldn't stop in for a baker's dozen if passing through. read more

Nice little outpost with cheap, tasty donuts. It was the pick me up I needed first thing in the morning. Downsides, the bathrooms are old and beat up and the gas dispenser was exceptionally slow. read more

Didn't specifically set out to come here, but couldn't help myself since I went to Kajun Kitchen across the street. The prices are actually 99 cents instead of 89 cents (what it says on the board), but the 3 donuts I had (raspberry filled, coconut, and blueberry) were delicious, fresh, and warm. Some of the best donuts made in-house of any place we've been. Each Shipley's has the staple donuts but they also have varieties specific to their store. Try the cream filled (NOT Bavarian), been my favorite since the 80s. Orange frosted, blueberry filled, Kolaches, and donut holes....I could easy attempt to eat one of everything! read more

Alexandria has 4 Shipley's. I find this one is the easiest, located conveniently next to a gas station on your way in or out of town. Donuts are always fresh and the neighborhood elders are always drinking coffee and solving the worlds problems in there. read more

I'm not from this area but have seen so many of these I just had to try one. Well first, the girl working was not at all friendly. I had a glazed donut, chocolate covered, and a cream cheese filled. I did not like them at all. Maybe I'm spiked from the amazing donuts I get at home but I just didn't like the dough or the icings. I won't be eating here again. read more
