I'm a relative of a resident of Acclaim, a two-year old senior complex, and been impressed with the…read morefacilities, the staff, and residents while staying in their guest suites in 3 visits. The apartments are well equipped, with full kitchens and washer and dryer. The guest suites and dining areas are tastefully decorated as are the hallways, each with a lovely sitting area for residents to visit with others. The very lively activities' coordinator takes residents on walks in the attractive Belmont Bay area, engages them in physical exercise and dancing. The Director seems to be well liked and is very responsive. The chef prepares a variety of healthy meals, served in a tastefully decorated dining room with service from friendly staff. The residents are quite diverse; in addition to many white residents of various backgrounds, there are Latinas, African-Americans, Filipinos, Indians and other Asians. I was impressed that residents socialized with each other, especially during happy hour. The costs are quite reasonable given the DC area. I encourage seniors who are exploring options to call and visit them.

He lost the ability to use his arms and required him to be fed. First day the nurse brought the food in and left. When we advised he'll need to be fed they said "He can't eat on his own?" First time we met the Dr he thought my dad had battled cancer. He obviously mixed up charts. Lastly, my dad was struggling with pneumonia. I came in Sunday afternoon to find him struggling to breath. I asked the nurse to come and check on him. It took them two hours to come in. They had to call 911. He then stopped breathing in route to the hospital. SO PLEASE....DON'T SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!

My Mother was hesitant and resistant to leaving her beautiful home of 56 years and moving into an…read moreassisted living facility, but living alone with a part time aide became unsustainable and potentially dangerous. After a couple of hospitalizations within a month she elected to do a 30 day respite stay at Sunrise instead of going to a skilled nursing facility (nursing home) for rehab. Within a couple weeks, my Mom made the decision to move to Sunrise permanently. She loves the community! The staff and residents were very welcoming to her when she arrived. This Sunrise is on the smaller size, which was important to her. It has a family feel to it. She feels safe and gets the perfect amount of attention from the staff members. They are all very friendly and caring to the residents. My Mom has an apartment she loves, is walking much more than she ever did at home which is benefiting her, has made friends and is truly enjoying interacting with people her own age (which is something she truly missed and needed) and she loves the food!! 1

The presence of this nurse hinders interaction at the clinic and is a very negative aspect of The Fairfax.
