Harmony is. From the polish to the lotions. First thing I noticed, was that the salon smelled like an essential oil hippie den- in the best way. Not a whiff of toxic chemicals. Then, I noticed the selection of Zoya colors. Wow. Everything. THEN, the pièce de résistance, the barrel of steam. It's basically a wooden barrel with a top that allows for your legs. Like a sauna for your lower legs. Finally, Josephine, the mastermind and mindful owner of Harmony, gave me a shoulder massage. Heaven. I am so happy I found this place. The owner is nice and it's great that the polish is non toxic but she can't file nails to save her life. She can do a basic shape but if you want anything trendy like stiletto, almond, or coffin shaped nails, good luck. I tried her twice and each time I said I wanted the exact same shape my nails were already in (almond). She made them square and then was surprised when I was like Uh no. Had a fantastic pedicure with Josephine today. It was my 1st visit to Harmony and she was so kind, warm and welcoming. My callouses were buffed off, my cuticles were perfectly trimmed, nails filed and my feet were put into a little bamboo steaming machine for 5 minutes or so which was a new experience for me; I loved it + it left my feet feeling velvety and smooth! Josephine also gave me a super relaxing foot, leg and calf massage. She was extremely thorough and spent a full hour making my toes look snazzy. Can't wait for my next "treat yoself" day that calls for a pedicure--I'll definitely go back to Harmony. read more

As you can see, Josephine is extremely defensive and actually wrote, "When you said " a second or third degree burn" , do you really know what that mean?" She went on this manner throughout her entire response. Of course I know what 2nd and 3rd degree burns are! First, because I am the one who experienced the deeply painful red skin and BLISTERS and, second, because I have been a card-carrying, LICENSED Medical Assistant for over thirty years! Finally, if I had not had 2nd and 3rd degree burns, I would not have written that I did. Her response to me is highly insulting. She also continued to blame me for the polish wearing off, my cuticles being torn, etc. No one should ever blame their customers for their bad behavior. I'm sorry, Josephine, you were trying to fill a niche with your marketing scheme; however, people need to know they can be severely hurt and, when they are, rather than take the blame that is due your bad care, you blame your customer. Not good. I am at fault for entering your business to begin with; but that is where my fault ends. I hope others read this and are wiser than I. Buyer beware! Do not respond, because if you do, it will be only to blame me for your actions further. I will not be back. read more

My sister and I had mani- pedicures here on May 15. They were great and my pedicure has lasted all these weeks. I'm going back this week. All their products are organic which means slightly fewer colors than OPI, but still a good selection. The creams and exfoliants are excellent. This is a remodeled space under new ownership. It's close to my home so I had been going there for the last few years. I was extremely impressed with our Mani/Pedi's, in particular love the sauna pedicures, thrilled with the conservation of water and the fact that it is far more hygienic. Also love that they are informed about the chemicals in the nail polishes, immediately knew which brands were "5 Free" and pointed right to them. NO OPI here. YAY!!! Went there and loved the sauna for the pedicure; I had asked if they had matching colors for hands and feet and they said yes. Well, they didn't (unless they blended colors); so, ok, got them done. An hour later I noticed a bubble on my nails and, oh by the way, the colors didn't match. Went back the next day and had to do them all over again ($30 with no sauna). Got home and again, my nail was chipped. Mary was very rough and the cuticles hurt. My next appointment was somewhere else and before they even began , they showed me a number of problems which they wanted to make sure I knew existed from the prior manicure. What a wonderful salon. Yet another reason to be pleased w the new neighborhood. Today has to be one of the most pleasant mani pedis I have ever had. I was thoroughly comfortable and well cared for. The neck massage was a blessed bonus. Mary Josephine and Tomey all worked on me at the same time. Everyone was very meticulous in their tasks. I loved the no-water sauna pedicure technique and it's good for the drought too. Imagine my surprise to find my wonderful treatment was even less money than my old salon. I got my nails done regularly and this place because it was cheap but honestly you get what u pay for . I had acrylic and it didn't even last 4 days, all nails chipped and fell off. I would not advise anyone to got here ! I'd rather spend more money and actually have nice nails and not leave in pain from them not ripping my cuticles! read more

Went here today to get a pedicure. What caught my eye first was the use of natural non-toxic everything. I'm becoming more aware of hidden ingredients (ie using greener cleaning supplies, etc), and this was appealing. I've never had a sauna pedicure, but I loved it! It uses less water (hi California and your drought) and it is a lot more sanitary (think about how other salons really need to clean the tub you soak your feet in... And I mean REALLY clean!). They used EOS lotion and natural scrubs and oils. No issues with the quality of the nail polish chipping, etc. The price, I feel, is right for this salon. Some may think it's too much (but it's not!), but for those who doubt, just remember organic fruit and veggies will cost more than fruits and veggies sprayed with pesticides. read more

Just had my first visit @ Harmony. What a wonderful place to just unwind, relax and get pampered. I was a walk in and they were able to accommodate me. First on the menu - Water, Juice or tea.. Second.. Comfortable chairs to relax in. They give you a menu w/ the colors and sample , no having to standing @ the nail polish carousel figuring out if a color is actually the color you want. My pedicure was a really cool sauna steam experience (perfect for the drought place I live in), the pedicure was just delightful. Third.. They use all organic natural products. I had a fill which was another natural product, not acrylic filler. No nasty toxic aroma. Another plus for me. Love them. Fourth..As my nails dried I received a very nice massage on my neck and shoulders. Fifth.. A menu for an ice cream sundae.. @ the end. My friend and I wanted to get a pedicure on a Saturday. I called for availability at 10am on Saturday and Josephine the owner picked up and said that she is booked until 2:45pm. I said I would take that slot. She also told me that it would take around 1 hour for the pedicures. She called back about an hour later and said that there was an opening due to cancellation. I told her we would be there right away. When we walked it, she was the only one there. She was very personable and friendly. The place was very clean and because she uses all non toxic organic products there was no chemical smell when we walked in the door. This is the only place I've seen that uses a foot sauna instead of water bath which was ultra relaxing, saves water, and is super sanitary. Josephine conversed with us throughout our appointment and was super knowledgeable about natural remedies for foot and nail care. She was very professional and thorough. Highly recommended! I've never really been a mani-pedi girl. Just felt like whatever I could do it home was good enough, that is until I moved in happily just down the street from Josephine at Harmony. Even when her salon is full of clients it is a quiet and peaceful respite. Now let's talk about feet: my hooves have never looked or felt better. Josephine uses some sort of buffing tool for removing calluses that is really unlike anything I've had elsewhere. Believe me when I say that anything else is substandard after you've had your callous and dry spots removed this way. I can honestly say that you get a custom pedicure here not just a going-through-the motions routine that ends in 30 minutes like I've had in other salons. I come here enough now and have observed Josephine and those that work for her that they seem to look closely at each pair of feet individually and delivers the pedicure YOU need, not just some formula. Josephine is gentle and sweet and calm and I love all of these things and the superb work she does. Even if I move out of downtown San Anselmo I will be driving back here for my pedicures. read more

Loved it here! Instead of soaking your feet in a tub like most places, she has a mini sauna for your legs. I had never seen this before but really enjoyed it and she explained it's more sanitary. Wow, got a pedicure here today and it was great! All natural, no big stinky tub, they steam your feet and legs like a spa. Nail polishes with no toxins, toluene, formaldehyde and such. They are very clean, and never reuse nail files, scrubs or any instruments on different customers. The atmosphere is like an 80s night club during the day time... Black ceiling, dark fuchsia walls, star lights on the ceiling. It's clean and organised with competitive pricing and free beverages and snacks. I've never had a stream instead of a foot bath but it seemed effective though the steam was heavily perfumed. The nail products they use are free of formaldehyde and many of the other stinky toxins I like to avoid so that's a huge draw to come back here. All in all I'm giving it three stars. What a treat, this place is wonderful! I popped-in for a pedicure and was treated to a truly unique and unexpected experience. Using only organic products, the nail technician began with an eucalyptus disinfectant spray on my paws, followed by a lavender sanitizer before applying a salt scrub. Then, instead of soaking my feet in a bowl of hot water, my feet and calves were placed inside a barrel-type dry sauna with a foot roller atop hot rocks at the bottom! The pedicure itself was done using modern technology with brand new tools, some of which are given to you at the end of the treatment. No need to worry about possibly getting an infection here. I took my daughter to Harmony. She loved the pink decor, and the woman was very nice. Buuuuut my polish started chipping after two days! It's almost all chipped off after one week.
