The communication (YES! They do communicate quickly and often) was so much better than almost any contractor we have encountered. Their cost estimate was very reasonable, they are fully licensed, insured and bonded. They met all of the contract timelines, and wow did they work hard! Scott and his team were dedicated to getting our job done on time even though they encountered issues that could not be foreseen. Everyone on the job were personable and professional. I know that reaching out to an unknown contractor can be intimidating and can make one feel very anxious. He showed up an hour late in a broke down car with a "friend" and no tools even though he assessed what he would need the week before. They looked dirty and like they had a rough night partying the night before. Then left to go to Ace despite the fact the dresser came with tools and I also have my own. They left and then 2 hours later I messaged him I have plans and needed to leave. He showed back up and wanted to take the dresser to his "shop" and return in a few hours. Over a 3 day period he made up excuses on why it was taking so long, including telling me his uncle went to the hospital and died! He told me the dresser was built that day, then the next said there was missing instructions and took another day, then he said parts were missing and he had to "fabricate parts". Over these 3 days me and my kids dad tried telling him to just bring the dresser back and how uncomfortable I was. He would not bring it back until he was done. Once returned and he was paid, I moved the dresser and it fell apart. He did a ton of damage and then tried to glue it together hoping it would stay. I requested a refund and he refused to make it right and started insulting me and telling me it's my fault because I moved it. It was brand new in a box, I should be able to move it, with out it falling apart. Now I'm left to try and report him while being out $500 as a single mom. This was sooo wrong! Do not trust him!

We have had Ben work on two big projects in our 1916 home. I knew Ben's work from projects he had…read moredone at a school I worked for, and I knew that I needed someone that I felt was deeply trustworthy and ethical to do such a large and extensive project, that would entail being in our home for a month. In 2012, he installed new subflooring and ceramic tile in our large bathroom after a flood required a total tear out He also refinished an original fir floor that was covered in 80 years of layers! The blonde wood floor is amazing, he even matched and created moldings that match the rest of the period woodwork in our home. We were very impressed with Ben's work, and chose him to do our kitchen remodel in January 2014 The project included three rooms (HUGE kitchen, dining room, mudroom) and required working around A LOT of quirky design features of the old house. In addition to all of the foibles of the house itself, we asked Ben to create a kitchen that would match the unique and quirky style of US! WOW! What an undertaking that was! On top of that, the whole project was being funded through a family trust, which attached all kinds of emotional baggage. Ben was a great sport and came up with many creative solutions and made our kitchen look lovely, and full of charm and character. The project included taking two of the rooms down to the studs and starting from scratch, as well as creating a checker board floor with "click marmoluem", extensive tile work (including a custom mosaic!) and replacing outdated electric and plumbing. I think Ben is an ethical, thoughtful, skilled professional. We were %100 comfortable handing him the keys to our house and moving out for a month, while he worked- he even checked in with our kitty! We plan to hire him when we make over our second floor!

It was a small job, and I called every Asphalt Contractor in Central Oregon that I could find for a quote. Only two of them called back- with the first one telling me they were too busy for a small job. Vic Russell Const called back and came out to my house to provide a quote. They were reasonable (providing a quote that was similar to the concrete quote I received for the same job) and friendly. The crew that completed the work did a great job and left a clean work site when they were finished. Everyone I dealt with at Vic Russell Const was friendly and professional.
