My favorite pilates studio in LA! Everyone is super friendly from the moment you walk through the door. Classes range from gentle/restorative to kick-butt challenging depending on the instructor. I prefer the latter, so I usually take KJ, Annelissa, or Penny. All of the instructors are well trained and focus a lot on your form, which is so crucial for avoiding long-term injuries. I've found that the instructors are pretty receptive and sensitive to students, so they'll tailor class difficulty and exercises based on the level of experience and noted injuries. Street parking is plentiful. There are meters on Santa Monica Blvd and some free parking in the neighborhood streets (though do check the signs as West Hollywood is very serious about parking enforcement!). read more

I came here the other day to take my first Pilates class ever. KJ, the instructor was really sweet and led me through all the moves and helped adjust the reformer, as I had never used one! It was a small group class, which was great for the level of private attention and feedback on our form. The studio is super cute and quaint. The receptionist was really friendly and one of the other instructors, Chad, took the time to explain to me the equipment he uses to teach a class on specialized body vibration machines. My girlfriend and I just left Harmony Studios for our first time & I feel this review is totally necessary..Harmony is awesome! Shes has been begging me to try Pilates for a few months now, and I'm so thrilled I did. The minute we walked in, we were welcomed by the front desk. I told Jessica I never had tried it before, didn't feel I was flexible enough, etc, and she reassured me. We took Annalisa's 11:00 am on Sunday and this is exactly what I need in my life. The class is 6 people, which I liked because I had enough attention to my form. Annalisa (sorry, if I'm misspelling) helped position my pelvis and helped me get out my shoulders. I was in the West Hollywood area for a promo modeling gig, and I walked in hoping to try a Pilates class before to help calm my nerves..gosh, I am so bummed I don't live in LA anymore because I love this studio!! The owner Jessica made me feel so welcomed and confident in trying Pilates. My instructor was Betsy and she was awesome! Betsy told me she was a newly certified instructor and I couldn't believe that..she was so skilled, observant, and patient with all of us! I work upstairs from the Pilates studio and I do pilates at least once a week sometimes more. What really sets Harmony apart from other studios is the deep well of knowledge their instructors have. I had serious back problems for years from bending over all day a work and with the help of the Harmony team I am completely pain free. Pilates is excellent for both men and woman and is a great workout too. It's harder than people think. The parking is a breeze and the mom and pop vibes are welcoming and stress free. WARNING: Poor management First of all, this review is not for Elaine who is a great instructor and the only reason I even considered purchasing a package. I discovered this studio through ClassPass about 3 weeks ago. After my first class, I received an email with a promotion to get 5 classes for $90. I responded to that email saying I was interested however, I went away for the weekend and forgot to call to buy the package. When I went in for my second class, I brought it up to Autumn at the front desk and asked if I could purchase the package then. She replied that the offer was only valid for 48 hours and added that it was mentioned in the email (in a very condescending tone). She told me she would still give me some 25% discount off another package and I told her I would think about it. The next day I received the same promotional email with the same offer so this time I called as soon as I got the email. Autumn answered the phone and instead of handling the situation with professionalism, she proceeds to lie and say that the email was a response she was drafting to my initial inquiry. I told her that it was not a response but a brand new email and she then changed her story to say that it was a glitch in the system. I told her that if it was a glitch in the system then they should honor the offer. She ignored me and instead tried to sell me a different package again. Due to Autumn's rudeness and lack of professionalism, I will not be returning to this studio. If the second promotional email was sent by mistake as Autumn said, then they should have owned up to it and honored the offer. Autumn seems to think they are the only pilates studio in Los Angeles. read more

I'm so glad I found this Pilates studio. The class instructors are all well-trained and knowledgeable about the body. They always provide modifications and are mindful that they are teaching people of various fitness levels. I have taken reformer classes with Mallory, Jennifer M, Jennifer O, and Annalisa, all of which I really enjoyed. My favorite instructor is Mallory, who always brings a lot of kindness and positive energy to her classes. She does a good job of keeping an eye on your form, even with a full class. I have taken numerous classes at other Pilates studios where instructors are just going through the motions of teaching a class, throwing out empty praise ("good job everyone!") and barely make an effort to correct students when they are moving with poor form. I get so much more out of her classes because of the extra effort she puts into her teaching! read more

Amazinggggggg!!!! I'm visiting from NYC and took my first class at harmony yesterday - it was incredible! The instructor was the owner, Karen - she was so good about checking in on my injuries (I have a really bad back) and helping me modify an exercise if it put too much pressure on my back. Cannot say enough things about this place and before I start, I should preface this review with the important caveat that I generally loathe any form of indoor exercise (I like hiking, running, tennis, etc). Having said that, I am hooked on Pilates at Harmony Studios-almost 6 months and running. Jen O. has done a killer job in working with me to develop my strength and phsyique, particularly in my lats, abs and obliques. I don't even know what to say. First of all Harmony is a beautiful clean space. Second the Owner is a knowledgeable, dynamic Woman who really knows what she's doing. I was unsure about Pilates and am still recovering from a rough delivery of my second baby. Karen made this an incredible experience for me and constantly asked questions- while actually Listening to my responses, adjusting me when necessary and making sure I knew what I was doing and how it should feel. I'm amazed how much I truly like Pilates after doubting it for so long, I can't believe how tough it is or how lucky I feel that this studio exists. Came here for my first time doing Pilates. I'm a younger male, so was a little intimidated by not necessarily being in the target market for this type of exercise. Boy, was I wrong. The staff was accommodating, the other classmates were sympathetic, and the trainer (I think her name was KJ or KT?) made extra sure that I was keeping up and encouraged as we went through. Reza's TRX class is one of the highlights of my week! It's a one hour, full-body workout that is great for improving cardio, balance, flexibility and strength. TRX has been described as "pilates on crack." The one hour flies by b/c Reza is engaging and provides an interesting, well planned class. Classes are small which means you get a lot of personal attention. It's a serious workout in a friendly, encouraging environment. If you want to be more fit and try something new, you should try the class. This class is a perfect activity for all levels of fitness. The Harmony studio is a lovely, very clean space. The staff is friendly, especially Amanda who usually sits at the front desk and always has a warm welcome for their guests. read more

I received some terrible news literally as I was waking into take a a class at this studio. I was so distraught but since I was right out front I thought I would let the studio know instead of no showing. Honestly the news hand not fully sunk in yet. I explained something bad had just happened and said I needed to go and hoped I could retake the class. Long story short the girl Michelle up front said no. Being very emotionally I burst into to tears and walked out. So here's the thing. I don't blame Michelle. Sure she could have been more empathetic seeing something was truly wrong but I knew I overacted and not only did I feel terrible about the personal situation that has brought on this distress but now I was embarrassed about breaking down in public. I was going to leave it alone because I knew that I overreacted so no reason to call the studio and complain. I had bigger issues at hand. Then I get the email I'm copy and pasting below from a women name Karla the next day for the studio. I'm not sure what she seemed to gain out of sending this to me. She was obviously told I was upset and something bad happened to make me upset so why would you send me this email and make me feel worse? I feel bad leaving such a bad review but if it brings her insensitivity to the attention of the owner Jessica then I will leave this here. In hopes that if ever there was a chance that someone was having a truly horrible day. That something really bad might have happened in their life that Karla may learn compassion and empathy rather than be judgmental and condescending. After all we are all human beings trying to live our best life's. Let's try to be a little kinder to each other. That goes for strangers too. I love the reformer classes at this studio! The parking is easy, right in front. The space is open and light. There are two bathrooms, one with a shower. KJ is the best teacher ever. She is able to infuse corrections and alignment without slowing the natural pace of the exercises. The exercises always become more challenging when you do them correctly and with mindfulness! I just started doing the Power Plate workouts, talk about challenging!! My teacher, Chad, is super knowledgable about the science of the machine so the workout gets super intense without complicated movement or heavy weights. I haven't tried the Gyrotonic classes but it looks interesting and is on my list! read more

Beautiful, clean studio with knowledgeable trainers and MANY classes to choose from. I come here for Pilates classes and Power Plate classes and love every visit. Parking is easy with street parking for free on side streets less than a block away or metered parking directly in front of the studio itself. This review is long overdue! Harmony Studios has a cute conveniently located space. The ENTIRE experience is warm and welcoming from the moment you step into the studio, during class, and even after you leave. Karen, the owner, is an amazing Pilates instructor (possibly even the best instructor I've ever had and I've taken my share of Pilates classes and even privates). If I could afford her, I would have a private session every other day. I don't know of many instructors who are as knowledgeable as her when it comes to how the body works. Also, EVEN in a class setting, she is highly observant and knows your body's nuances, such as a dominant side or if one of your movements is come from one muscles or another. After only a couple of classes (emphasis on classes, not even privates) with her, she is familiar with my body and gives me modifications during class. Karen isn't the only skilled instructor, she carefully selects all the other instructors. You don't get newbies at Harmony Studios. Harmony Studios is especially ideal if you are suffering from injuries. It's important that you work out with someone who knows how to work around it. I heart Jen T! I trained with her before my wedding & got in amazing shape. She's awesome one on one but her Sunday class is great too....it's always full so sign up early.:) I know working out Sunday morning doesn't sound like fun but the studio is so quiet and it is really a treat! Jen's training style is very intuitive. After all of these years, I'm still amazed at how she can see which muscle I'm working correctly or incorrectly and instruct me on how to adjust my position successfully. This update is long overdue. The original review was written immediately after I've been informed via email that I've lost out on 2 classes that I did not attend... with a bit of over-dramatization, frustration and ire. During one of the e-mail exchanges to work out schedule for my next class (back in October), I made known of my frustration re: the complex scheduling process to Karen, the owner. Who, in turn, was accommodating, generous, and was more than willing to restore my Groupon credits so that I can redeem the 3 classes remaining, even beyond the expiration date. I went online, checked all the available reformer classes in the EVENINGS, (unavailable during the day time, due to work), and offered Karen 4-5 options that may work for me. Karen replied, informed me I am now signed up for 1 of the options, while the other ones will be unknown, until the day of. Since they do not want to overcrowd a class of 4 with more than 1 Groupon user; essentially, the instructor will not be paid adequately. Which I completely understand and can sympathize with. However, that still brings me right back to square one: multiple email exchanges and ongoing wait-listing (as a Groupon user) so that I can get into 1 class. I want to end by reiterating that the experiences I've had with the instructors and owner were all positive; these are top grade teachers. I want the business to do well; I felt bad that the instructors were underpaid b/c of us Groupon users. But I still think there's gotta be an easier way to register for classes w/out having to exchange email 5 times, or be kept unknown of my registration status until the day of. read more

I had a really great experience here today. I felt like I was in a totally private Pilates class! I took the Reformer Pilates class with KJ Luker, who made me feel so comfortable in the studio. She just has an absolutely phenomenal presence, and really helped me with my form as I am pretty new to Pilates. Everybody in the studio could not have been more welcoming or gentle -- from the first "hello" I got when I walked in to the "have a great weekend!" I heard as I headed out the door.
