I've been to the new Harold Chicken two times now, the first day was a madhouse and it was impossible to get orders without waiting for at least 2-3 hours. However, I came back and there were 8 people in front of me 15 minutes before they were set to open and I was in and out in an hour. The customer service is very good, the chicken was seasoned perfectly, and the BBQ sauce was just as I remember from other Harold's chicken locations I have visited over the years. The only problem I have is that they're so busy that you cannot call in orders, and they need a text system or something like that so people don't have to stand in the restaurant for long periods of time while waiting for their food. The benches inside only hold 6 to 7 people. I love the Harold mats on the floor and the picture on the wall giving you some history Harold has been a pillar of Chicago since 1950 and is now a part of Minnesota. My girl wanted to grab us takeout for dinner and never had Harolds, so I told her to pick some up. She called me while making the order so she got it right. Sadly, this was the worst experience I've ever had here. Ordered catfish filet meal and a liver and gizzard meal. I had the catfish which was rubbery and the gizzards were overcooked. I asked for lemon pepper on everything and they forgot it on the catfish. Asked for extra hot sauce and they only gave us one. This overall was a horrible experience and upset this is her only experience here. read more

I am born and raised in Chicago Illinois so when I saw that they had a restaurant from home, I was excited to go. Upon arrival to the restaurant at 10 AM I found out that they didn't open until 10:30 AM so I waited 10 AM turn to 12:30 PM as I sat outside and my Power Wheelchair talking to other customers that were also waiting to get in the store to place our orders for some good chicken. I hope is good chicken. There were no signs on the windows to display that they won't open that day and whenever you call, they never I mean never answer the phone so you can never place a order in advance or you could never place a order for groups you have to physically go to the store whenever they're open and they're supposed to be open daily so if you don't mind standing around outside with other customers looking like a protest and never get in the store to place an order then that's the place for you read more

First time here. Fyi not a sit down restaurant strictly take out. Wait time for a 4pc was a bit long waited about 20 mins to get food. Wait time is long so comfortable. I asked for mild sauce thinking it came on the side. When I got the food, the chicken, fries, and bread was drenched in a sauce that tasted like ketchup. Apparently that's how they do the sauce in Chicago but it was unexpecting and I didn't like it at all. Fries were soggy, chicken barely had flavor other than the ketchup tasting mild sauce. Food was excellent and hot. I ordered the 6 piece wing and fries with the mild sauce on top of it. Mild sauce for those that aren't from Chicago is a savory ketchup-like sauce that goes on your wings and fries. It's kind of sweet but I've been eating it all my life so I'm used to it. It took about 25min for me to receive my order, but this is Harold's, it's to be expected. You can always place your order online ahead of time. So disappointing as we continue to support a Chicago black owned staple, but this past Saturday was our last straw with a large order we placed & paid for in advance via DoorDash (as the rude rep who answered the phone on Fri wouldn't work with me as far as catering). No more Harolds for us in MN, service is the WORST, guess I'll give my black dollars to another business that values their clients and servicing its community. BYE! I am from Chicago, but live in Texas now. I don't have a Harold's chicken near me, so when I was visiting Minneapolis last weekend, I HAD to grad some chicken. Let me tell yalllll....it did NOT disappoint! I ordered through DoorDash and my food came HOT! I mean, the chicken breasts were smoking on the inside and my hotel was a 20 minute drive from the location. The taste was even better! I had LOTS of fries and the sauce was evenly distributed...iykyk! I have tried Harold's locations in other cities outside of Chicago and this is, by far...the best experience I have had. Yes! The hype is real! It's soooo good! I got the 2 piece white meal for $9.60, which came with fries, a slice of bread and the famous Harold sauce. So delicious and so good! I heard about all the buzz about this place, when it first opened, but the lines were too long back then, so I waited it out. Today, I walked in for take out and there was no wait time, expect for preparation. They do cook it fresh per order, so do expect to wait for that. I only waited about 10 to 15 minutes - just enough time to walk over to purchase unsweetened ice tea at the nearby Holiday Gas Station, since they only carry pop/soda drinks. Harlold's sells OK food to incredibly patient people. Harold's is in a clutch of fast food places, though a little on the outside with limited parking and no drive-through. Now that they are less busy I decided to try it. Start by ordering a 2-piece meal, which went fine. After about 10 minutes of waiting (no other customers in the store) the counter guy told me that it would be another six minutes, as the chicken was cooked to order and took 16 (!) minutes. Another 10 minutes went by and my food finally came. It's pretty ordinary stuff. A tiny cup of slaw was tine. French fries were very ordinary. Chicken was hot with very ordinary, but good, breading. Similar to Popeye's standard chicken across the street. People, there's no reason to buy here. The food is ordinary and is not at all improved by the extended wait time. Pricing seems to be similar to Popeye's though I did not study details. But regardless, unless you have a bunch of time to waste or are a friend of the owners, Popeye's or any of the other franchise stores will do just fine and save you close to 1/2 hour. read more

The Brooklyn Park location has been open for a couple weeks now but remains busy as ever! We had a tough time finding the menu online so dropped in and ordered - my nephew and I both got combos; I ordered the catfish and wings while he ordered the gizzards and wings. There are a few benches for folks to sit on but otherwise there's just lots and lots of people leaning on the walls waiting... and waiting.. and waiting. We waited about an hour to get our food so I was expecting the most incredible food ever. I was pretty disappointed, the fries weren't seasoned and the chicken was pretty bland. My nephew said the gizzards were pretty tough but I enjoyed the catfish. The folks in the back seemed upbeat and friendly but the cashiers in the front were very cavalier and inattentive. read more

Went there to see whay the hype was all about and ordered lemon pepper chicken. (and over salted fries) Chicken was over cooked and very dry and rubbery to where I almost choked. It was a to go order and store was closing. So I couldn't bring it back. I could have saved my 70 and went to Culvers. Over priced. read more
