The surgery was performed expertly and I was out of the hospital in two days. He visited me each day in the hospital making sure I was progressing as expected. The entire hospital staff at St. Francis was outstanding with special recognition to Victoria in pre-op, Olga who transported me to the surgical suite, Rosy the RN who oversaw my care the first day, and also Salome, Larisa, John, and Tyler. Dr. Yamashita had me in for a post-op conference explaining the necessity of taking it easy for 4 to 6 weeks to heal appropriately. The surgery and post surgery care were outstanding. The only downside is that his office does not accept insurance for plastics, so if you want to have skin removal or breast reduction after weight loss, they won't take insurance. But overall, his care as a surgeon is top notch, and I really felt as though he was caring and knew exactly what he was doing.

I got the run around for 3 weeks and it was finally sent off because I called every day dome days multiple times per day. Each time I called I was given a different person to talk to and nothing was certain. To put it short my insurance still hasn't received anything from this office and I'm still calling daily trying to get it taken care of. I wish I could talk with the surgeon about this because I know of one person who had the same experience as me and she switched over to a different center because of the staff that handle things for the provider. If they sent my paperwork off they sent it to the wrong place which is another means of concerns. Where'd my personal information go to? Dr. Swedler seemed to be nice but Teri, Alex, Kelly and Cindy have left me without hope.

I could bend my knee to 135°+ and lay it completely flat. He stated that I was far ahead in my progress and was happy for my recovery. The staff are all friendly and personable. I have received an MRI and without any showing of the image that was scanned, he just told my father and I that I needed surgery. "You might have torn your meniscus." My father listened to him and I had no say in this at all because my father just wanted my knee to "be fixed" or "be better" The initial reason why we showed up in the first place was because every time I bend my knee up and down, there was something that was cracking/popping...Without any pain. We just wanted to make sure that my knee was ok... and these sounds weren't a sign to internal damage. After the surgery, the doctor didn't even mention or report back to us what he found or what the reasons were for those popping/cracking. We had to ask, I asked him "was my meniscus torn?" He said "no, there were just some damaged tissues and we just scraped it out." I wish I could've gone to another doctor to get a second opinion that clearly goes over the MRI findings and isn't just to get money. NOW that I am older, I will always get a SECOND OPINION because DOCTORS ARE CORRUPT AND SKETCHY. I would STAY AWAY FROM RECEIVING ANY MEDICAL ADVIDE OR ANY PROCEDURES FROM DOCTOR GARY HUNTER! My knee is STILLL THE SAME NO CHANGE AT ALL.., STILL HAVE SYMPTOMS .., I just suffered through senior year on crutches and my knee will never be the same after surgery. He also used the wrong size hip implant which caused more damage. I have permanent damage and a permanent limp and still have pain after 12 years. Do not go to this doctor. He should not be practicing.
