We were able to pick our own pumpkins and I got a 1/2 bushel of apples to make my own applesauce (which is seriously too easy). The staff was super amazing and helping us know what to do, where to go, etc. Who doesn't love going to an actual farm for pumpkins and apples? That's what the fall is about! I will definitely go back to McGlasson Farm again in the future. It's also cool to ride the Anderson Ferry back to Ohio when you're done.

The lady said it wasn't her place, she just works there, but she knows they spray some kind of stuff, just not sure what. She said they do try to use the least toxic stuff they can get by with, but we could always try to talk to one of the owners at a later time. I just did a really good water/vinegar bath when I got them home before putting them up. I like that the place is pretty local and not overpriced. It would be a great date idea or just to go with some family. They have other pick your own options throughout the year, so be sure to check them out!

This sweet gray kitty lounged under the blueberry bushes and was so sweet with my kids. This cat followed us around a bit. I think it was the highlight of the visit for my son. Plus something else we learned on our most recent trip: Bring plastic clamshell containers, like what you get blueberries in at the grocery store. These were great to put berries right into, and then you don't have to repackage them when you put them in the fridge. These blueberries were sweet, better tasting than what we get at the store. We'll be back next year!

I was looking for heirloom pumpkins for decor and for a still life painting. The crew was watering the mums when we arrived before noon opening on Sunday. The mums were luscious and just starting to bloom. A cart selling Noble Coffee had a lazy aging dog sleeping underneath. Pumpkins and gourds lined the building in neat rows. I found a blue pumpkin that I needed. When the shop opened, kids headed towards the fields for pick your own pumpkins. I was surprised that raspberries were still on the vines for you pick. I headed into the shop to look around. Spencer bottles and sells their own salad dressings and preserves. Fall and Christmas giftware was out. But, a case full of pies caught my eye. Peach, blueberry, cherry, apple and more. I selected a slice of blackberry. I enjoyed my pie outside on their little patio. The pie was delicious. (They The They also sell fudge and ice cream.) The winery is a new addition since my last visit. The winery wasn't opened, but I will check it out on my next visit. Spencer Farm is a great place to visit and pick up fresh produce.

I had the chance to accompany a friend to Spencer Farm for a relatively brief visit. While it was pretty brief, I was impressed. Spencer Farm was started by, you guessed it, the Spencers - Lori and Kyle. It started out as Spencer's U-Pick in 1982. They started out with strawberries. By 1986, they moved to a new farm on Cherry Tree Road. They expanded to include red raspberries, black raspberries, blueberries, and chrysanthemums. They've added pumpkins, asparagus, grapes, Christmas trees, and their son founded a winery that now also sits on the farm grounds. Spencer's now does pre-picked, you-pick, and wholesale fruit. In 2008, they further expanded the farm with a variety of Indiana products including ice cream, fudge, pies, jams, jellies, etc. As you can tell, I immediately wanted to see their sunflower field. I love, love, love sunflowers. One of the reasons I'm not particularly a farm dude is because farms are seldom very accessible. While Spencer's isn't perfect, there's a STRONG effort here to be accessible. I was honestly surprised and impressed. You could send me to the gift shop, and I could be a very happy camper. I will note that they have a strong photography policy. It's on their website, but if you're taking professional equipment I'd read the policies first as there are requirements. There's an awful lot to love here. The people are friendly. The farm is well laid out and surprisingly accessible (the fields obviously have some issues - they're fields). There's accessible parking close to the entrance. This would be a great place for families. Children should definitely enjoy it. There's a strong element of faith here, and that's radiated in the beauty of the surroundings and the service.

That being said, I had a lovely day at Dollie's. The location appears to be dog and family friendly and would be a fun day out for families. Flowers were very popular with various sizes offered at a range of cost, from small bunches to a bucket! I went for the lavender. You are given a basket and garden shears and left to cut your own. I took my time and enjoyed the relaxing environment. Pricing is per ounce, pre-wrapped bundles are available but these are dried. There are a few animals including peacocks! A store is located on the site, filled with cute home and body care. All of the items were lavender themed-I'm not sure if this was done for the festival or if this is standard.

They offer U-pick apples & Pumpkins or if you're in a hurry they're ready to grab from the red barn. Pumpkins are super reasonably priced at $.40 a Lb or pie pumpkins for $3. The concession stand is open on Saturday & Sunday. I love the fried biscuits with apple butter & of course you must get the apple cider slushies!! I don't remember seeing it prior, but they had apple cobbler warmed up with ice cream, delicious! I just love this place so much! My favorite newer addition has been the fall corn maze--such a fun experience! After playing, the kids love grabbing a treat or ice cream in the market. In the market, I usually stock up on cider, preserves, and fresh fruit--and I always grab a bottle of Wise Bird Cider (so good). They also offer baking mixes, vegetables, meats, and more. You'll find seasonal favorites like strawberries, apples, and pumpkins throughout the year, and everything is consistently fresh and delicious. We make it a tradition to buy strawberries in May, grab peaches during the summer, and pick apples in early fall. Stepping Stone also serves as a wedding and private events venue, and I often see school field trips there as well. The owners and staff are absolute sweethearts, and it's clear they genuinely care about what they do. They're wonderful community partners, and it really shows.

When I arrived to the farm the first thing that I did was cover myself in bug spray and I didn't have any issues the entire hour and a half. Laura the owner greeted me instantly and introduced herself and how she got started with her business while we waited for everyone to arrive. We begun the class at a picnic table setup with a beautiful floral arrangement, sheers for cutting flowers, water because it was hot, 1 large, and 1 small mason jar. We were told the large jar was for ourselves and the small jar was for a friend:) Laura guided us through the rows of flowers telling us how much to pick and how to determine what was ready to pick. We picked the flowers in groups of three or five and all of the arrangements looked beautiful. I would definitely recommend checking out the farm any morning or evening to pick some fresh cut flowers when available, joining a class, or booking flower arrangements for your next event.

After a drive outside of town, we found the farm easily with Google maps, but overshot the drive. As we turned around we could see some of the flower fields and we're so excited... Walking up to the main building, where the sweet owner, Laura, and her family live, she mentioned the sunflowers were over the hill. As we walked the short distance we couldn't believe our eyes when we saw the sea of sunnies! They were gorgeous and so tall. At least five different types that we counted while wandering through the forest and cutting blooms to take home. We also enjoyed the zinnias and other blooms to walk through and pick. The flowers are beautiful, but so is the story and spirit of the owner. Take some time to chat with her and you will be uplifted! Our blooms lasted well over a week and we will be back. The five year old with us loved every minute of it, but I think the adults enjoyed it more. Oh, we also got to walk by the cows, goats, and sheep for some extra entertainment. If you can't make it out to the farm for an event, she makes appearances in her Seedlings truck around town at markets and special events. We even saw her in front of Switchyard brewery recently!

When she moved me up here many years ago, one of the first places she took me was Huber's. We've been back countless times over the years, and it never disappoints. Our latest visit included my nephew, his new wife, my niece, and her 10-year-old son. My niece-in-law is from New York City and had never experienced life on a farm. (Last year, we took her to pet a horse for the first time!) So when she wanted to go peach and apple picking, Huber's was the obvious choice. Let's just say she and my 10-year-old great-nephew absolutely loved riding the trams and picking fresh fruit. My nephew and niece enjoyed themselves too, even though they both grew up on a farm in Georgia. My wife and I took a more relaxing approach, sampling some of Huber's excellent adult beverage offerings while enjoying the live band. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon. All in all, Huber's once again lived up to its reputation as one of the best family destinations around. It offers something for everyone, whether you're looking for fresh produce, family activities, live music, or a great place to unwind. I normally end my reviews by saying, "I'll be back."
