He proceeded to take quite a bit of time on the phone giving me advice on how to go about troubleshooting or attempting to fix an issue and giving me general advice that seemed super honest. She truly understands the anatomy of your unique voice and will tailor the lesson based on your needs. She is also an incredible vocalist with a deep understanding of all musical styles. The vocal adjustments she taught me were life-changing. I was in LA for three months rehearsing for a contemporary new-musical. During rehearsals, I was having a lot of trouble with placement and breath control. I needed to see a coach ASAP. New to LA, I had no idea what to expect, but thank god I found Emily on Yelp. We trained nearly everyday to the point where she had improved my voice so much, our company's director asked who I was learning from in LA. She then signed on as the production's official vocal coach. The improvements are instant. I've seen vocal coaches who are over $350 an hour and don't put in half the effort as Emily does. She makes sure every note, every word, and every phrase is exactly how you want to sound. I was blown away by her ability. She also has one of the most angelic singing voices I've ever heard. It was such a joy to learn from her and to hear her sing. I cannot recommend her enough.

She's also such an incredibly kind, responsible person. I didn't have a lot of formal training experience growing up. I started group lessons in college as a fun elective. I took it for several semesters and performed within the class. After graduating, I started getting more obsessed with singing. I wanted to improve my voice and found Emily! I definitely noticed my singing voice improve within the last year. I'm sad she left to LA!

It was a surprised to find that this little music school serves as a center to teach music to low income children. Also, the school building is actually old house that is over 100 years old. According to historians, the house was once owned by a family who loved to play music. Anyway the Neighborhood Music School has music recitals year round. They welcome visitors who would to know more about the history of the school and the property. If you're lucky, you might get a free music recital from one of the students or catch a student practicing.

If you're looking for a professional well structured school, I'm not sure this is the place for that. If you're looking for a place for your child to be creative and socialize, I think this is the place for you. Parking would be on the street/meters. The weekends are a bit difficult to find parking with multiple churches and lots of restaurants around the school. There are tv monitors so you can watch your child while they're in class. There are lots of places to sit inside and outside while you wait for your child. Class sizes are fairly small. The cost is typical of LA prices. We take classes in another city as well and the cost is $40 less/month, however, class sizes in affordable studios also have triple the amount of students.

You need to bring your own headphones or otherwise have a way to listen to music you play without bugging people because it's not like where I used to go in Orange County where no one cared what you did.... It's also the flagship store and you might encounter some really weird things that have nothing to do with the people that worked there like I did. Some random middle-aged dude started popping off at one of the workers had to be escorted out while he cussed out about something that really made no sense. But the employer did a good job and the guy left and was probably yelling at other people later on.... In the end, I ended up with a wonderful piece of gear for a decent price. I love Roland instruments so that's what I got. I loaded it up in an Uber black with help from Josh with the guy to talk to on keyboards and probably all sorts of other stuff that I don't play like guitars.... And it just was one of those days where things aligned and I really felt good about everything... Anyway, you should check it out. ‍

I visited Guitar Center Hollywood on June 24 around 5:30 PM looking for a gig bag for my guitalele…read more My experience with one employee, Miguel in the guitar department, was extremely disappointing. When I asked for help, he quickly brushed me off and insisted there were no bags that would fit my instrument. He seemed completely unwilling to make any effort to check for alternatives. When I asked for his name, he actually hid his name tag in his shirt pocket and questioned why I needed it. When I requested to speak with a manager, he claimed there was no manager available and again questioned why I wanted one. The interaction felt dismissive, unprofessional, and left me feeling disrespected as a customer. Fortunately, security officer Nate took my concerns seriously and contacted a manager, Travis. While it took some time, Travis went into the back and found a mini guitar bag that fits my guitalele perfectly. Ironically, the solution was exactly what Miguel could have found if he had been willing to get up and look. I appreciate Nate and Travis for ultimately resolving the issue, but the behavior I experienced from Miguel was unacceptable. Customer service starts with treating people respectfully and making a genuine effort to help. but
