Disclaimer: I was here for work. I was not here to gamble, although I did play some games. As I'm not a gambler, I don't have a strong frame of reference here to judge the casino. I thought the environment was fine. However, I do have opinions about food and hospitality. Overall, I thought that Harrah's was alright. The food was good (Although the market was overpriced), but the hotel room left a lot to be desired. I'm going to bring up the conference food as part of this evaluation, and I was overall, very happy with every meal I had while there. Zero complaints. Good quality, flavorful, good variety. If you're booking an event, the in house team at Harrah's does good work. My hotel room was on the west tower and felt a bit run down. It was quite warm when I came in, although turning the AC on full blast rectified that issue. What I couldn't rectify was the rubber seal on the desk falling off, and two handles on the chest of drawers having been removed by someone else. It just felt like there was a lack of attention to detail. More annoyingly, for a 3 night stay, at no point was my room ever cleaned or the bed ever made. I'm not saying it needs to be cleaned from top to bottom, but I'm very certain that no staff members were ever in my room during my stay. If they only clean the room on request, why bother having do not disturb signs? I had dinner twice, and breakfast once at Gordon Ramsay's market. I thought the items there were fine, but very overpriced. 4 dollars for a Chobani Yogurt that you'd pay 1.39 for normally, for instance. And that's before Tribal fees. My meals were pretty good though. Pizza, and fish and chips. Overall, this isn't a bad place to stay, and as someone who doesn't spend a lot of time gambling, the casino floor had a certain charm to it. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere, but if you don't mind a subpar hotel room, the rest of the stay will be perfectly nice. read more

Last time we were here in Cherokee, my husband and I vowed to stay at this hotel-casino next time... So our latest excursion to Cherokee (mainly to resupply our stock of THC lol), we stayed overnight at the hotel. First of all, the positives! The hotel-casino is quite unique in many ways. It's definitely NOT The Venetian or the Mandalay...with its Vegas-style loft and splendor. It's a MUCH more subdued, modest version of a hotel casino...much smaller. In fact, you can walk from one of the hotel-casino within 15 minutes. Still large...but not Vegas Large. The hotel is also very senior-friendly...with its lush carpeting throughout. Walking on these carpets make you feel as if you're roller skating. Very easy on the joints...so for someone like my husband, with knee issues, and me with my sporadic ankle issues (a long life in heels!), this had to be a lush walk in the park! The hotel also has a rustic style...almost a ranch housing style...complete with a rustic creek right outside. It really matched the Cherokee vibe. Despite the size, the hotel-casino houses plenty of eats and drinks, including a Gordon Ramsey food court...an upscaled food court with chef-inspired street foods. The foods were pretty good (for a food court especially!), but my repeat complaint is that the place is understaffed...and possibly under-managed. Also, the online-screen ordering system is NOT senior-friendly. They also have nicer restaurants on site, like the Guy Fieri's Kitchen + Bar, Ruth Cris, Soco Smokehouse, Amici's, etc.etc. Now the disappointing parts. Again, the entire hotel-casino seems understaffed. Even during busy check-in hours, there were only 2 reps working the hotel reception desks! We stayed in the Mountain Tower, the newer buidling...so newer rooms! As expected, the room was quite nice upon entering. Seemed very new...and clean. However, as you look closer, you'll see and feel all the cracks. The room and bathroom amenities were quite weak (not even water bottles offered in the rooms, for one)...yet you pay nearly 40 bucks a night on resort fees! The bath amenities were also cheap! As new as the room was, the the toilet lever and the tissue holder was already looking like it was cracking. The mattresses on the bed were super soft and super cheap...and ridiculously creaky! Possibly the creakiest mattress I've experienced in decades!!! The A/C was also very weak (felt 72 at 67 degrees)...and you can hear this fairly loud noise (almost like a mini helicopter flying over your bed?) the whole time! You can just tell that the hotel management did a ton of cost cutting within these rooms...even the newer additions! On top of these substandard room amenities, the worst part?!? Their check-in time is 4 pm! I know more and more hotels are going toward later check-in times, but I feel this is a huge scam. Guests are expected to pay more for less hours in a room...one that isn't even being cleaned on a daily basis (but every few days). Not sure how often they cleaned these rooms, however, since we only stayed 1 night. Overall, we still managed to enjoy the stay...walking around the plush carpeted hotel, doing some minor league gambling (slot machines), and eating-drinking in (without having to drive out of the hotel). However, be warned...this is NOT the Vegas quality you might come to expect from hotel-casinos. read more

I have been coming here for a long time. There have been some slight changes in recent years but I'm a vibe guy, and the vibe here is always excellent. I will give you the real info based on many sources and being friendly to staff. The staff and patrons are all pretty chill. And the staff deserves a lot of love because they're friendly, professional, and exceptional at their jobs. I do know that Harrah's works their staff to death and forces them to work on holidays and things like that, but it's good money. If they enjoy their job, it's not a bad situation. If they don't enjoy their job, not so much. I assume it's not too bad because this is the mountains. The clientele here is one of the friendliest you will find. Only the Midwest can compete. For food, Brio has gone downhill. And I know that starting this January, they are cutting costs. The sourcing quality will be reduced. Also, stop hyping up the overpriced Noodle Bar--it's frozen food (but the staff is great.) The best Asian food you will find here is actually in the food court. It was way better than I expected, but it's only open at peak times. The other Gordon Ramsey options are good but not great. The pizza is better than the burgers. I haven't tried the new BBQ place that replaced Wicked Weed, but it has to be better than Wicked Weed. That place had good salad, average food otherwise, and the absolute worst manager in the entire place. That woman (built like a hockey player) was nasty. And I'm not the only patron that thought that. I stopped going to Wicked Weed because of her. So did many others. Imho, she is not fit to work in a casino where it's important for the venue to make sure its patrons are happy. If she still works in the casino, you might want to keep an eye on that one. Otherwise, the staff is awesome! Bartenders are also super cool. It's more of a beer and wine place than a cocktail place. However, the dude with the Mohawk makes an awesome sangria. I don't recommend an Old Fashioned at Cherokee. Not really their specialty. But great bartenders for sure! I don't play anything against the house (just poker), but I love walking around with a beer to chill and people-watch and say hello to some of the staff if they're not busy. It's just not normal for the staff to be this friendly in a casino, which is great. They will sometimes even smile and say hello to you. Harrah's Cherokee does an exceptional job at training their staff. One underrated feature for this property is the river outside. You can sit in an Adirondack chair around the fire pit by the river and just chill by the flowing water. That is pretty cool! That also reminds me of the Selu Garden Cafe right across the river. Awesome breakfast place on the hotel side. And, yes, you can walk there. What else? Slots are reported to be a little tight, security is even super friendly, great space for WSOPC, the poker room is awesome during week for Nightly tourneys and during weekend for cash games, there is an enormous sportsbook, the bowling alley stealthily has some of the best food in the house, there is a bowling alley (obviously), and there is a smoking room for slots for those who seek that. As for the hotel side, they treat me like dirt because I only play poker. Some rooms have boxes for needles, and I once called and asked if they had a room available and they said yes, and then I got there and they said no (because they realized I only played poker). I highly recommend staying at one of the hotels right across the street. You can walk. Overall, Harrah's Cherokee is one of my favorite places in the world! Love the vibe. Any place is going to have a few negatives, but the positives greatly outweigh the negatives. You should have fun here! Only bring what you can afford. read more

This is one of my favorite casinos. Lots and lots of slot machines, good payouts, lots of staff offering drinks, everything was in excellent condition. The machines take your money greedily and the cashier dispenses the winnings as fast as the machines eat your money. It's a fun atmosphere. The crowds are big during the weekend, so plan accordingly, your favorite slots may be taken. I don't play table games yet. read more

Had a great visit to Harrah's Cherokee Casino while staying nearby at Days Inn. The casino is neat, spacious, and well organized, which made it easy to move around and enjoy the experience. The service desk was very helpful, and as a newcomer, I received a $25 table coupon, which was a nice bonus. The food court had several fast food options--quick, convenient, and satisfying between games. Roulette is my go-to, and luckily, I had a good run and even won some money, which definitely made the trip more fun. When we Checked in via kiosk, it was an easy process. Our bags were quickly delivered and all was good. UNTIL our door opened and another couple had same room assigned. WHAT? Called front desk who was not the least bit concerned about the security breach and offered to have someone meet us at our new room. No mention of moving our bags or how we were to get to our new room cause the elevators are all key activated. Took 90 minutes to get settled into our new room after a manager stepped in. Room was ok, fairly clean. The food choices for a real restaurant were limited. A kiosk driven ordering area does cover all the food court places and clearly works better than the check-in kiosks. Food was pretty good. Tomorrow will be contacting the hotel to get the $50 credit I was to have received for the check in fiasco. All in all a frustrating experience and I won't be back read more

What a difference in four years. My room in the Cherokee Towers felt brand new. The bed was supportive, cooling system quiet and the dual head shower amazing. The Brio restaurant looks to be out of service but the food court was the perfect replacement. The hotel is non smoking as is much of the casino. Table minimums were $25 on a slow Tuesday night. My 600th review gets to be for one of my absolute favorite places!! Since February of 2024 we started making the drive up and back to spend our weekends in Cherokee approximately every 2 months. (This year we went to Caesars in Danville, VA and New Orleans), so only two trips up to Cherokee in 2025 to date. We love to gamble! Win or lose I'm there for the fun and excitement of the possibilities of hitting that big jackpot. We always stay in the Soco tower. It's one of the older towers, but we love it. I'm usually downstairs for most of the trip and will only spend 5 or 6 hours up in the room each day. No time for sleeping when I'm at the casino! This most recent trip we were so impressed by the number of employees on the casino floor. I never waited for a drink, or a blackjack or roulette table. It was fabulous! Everyone was so nice and helpful too. During this most recent trip we also saw a show, Jeff Foxworthy. My first time seeing a show here. The whole experience was smooth sailing. Scan your tickets at the door. Head down the hall to grab snacks or drinks, then head to your seat. When we left, everyone just casually filed out. It was perfect. Yay to Harrah's in Cherokee!! Was a stop on a trip to see smokies, the rating was a shock had to see the low rating, it was what you would see this type of rating for the vegas circus circus or a old run down casino, not this harah property. Harrah's Cherokee Event Center brings a wonderful line up of concerts with wonderful acoustics. Spacious auditorium with a friendly Event staff add to the enjoyable experience. VIP rooms with buffet spread is very nice but the food is below average in quality, taste, and preparation but hey, it's better than no food at all. read more

Had so much fun at Cherokee casino this weekend. The casino floor is large with plenty of options to play. There is a designated smoking area that is closed off to the rest of the floor and you cannot tell that it's there besides when you walk past. There are several bar options throughout. The resturant options tend to open around 5pm so if you go during the day your options will be limited. The website said the Guy Fieri restaurant was open during our visit, but when we walked all the way there it was closed, which was a bummer. We ate at the food court and I had a burger and it was very good. My sister got an order of the truffle fries which were very tasty. We did not stay at the hotel but the parts we saw looked very nice. The grounds of the resort were nice to walk through and we saw some people fishing in the river. It is a great day trip and I'm sure would be fun to stay for the weekend. read more

The Cherokee casino yesterday, for an evening of fun. We've visited the casino a few times over the past few years. All the staff that we came in contact with, were very friendly and helpful. The entire facility was very clean and well maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. They have several restaurants to choose from, No dinner buffet, only during breakfast. We has dinner at Brio an Italian restaurant. The food was yummy and bar service was good. Parking is stressful free and free. Everyone was very nice, check-in was friendly - we chose to see desk team not the kiosk. Halls as we got to the rooms were dirty and smelled of pot. Our room was big, TV - should be bigger for the room size, no property info in the room but we just looked it up on our phones . To be a Harrah's - it needs a facelift in the rooms and the halls of the rooms. Nothing really plush in the rooms - just a standard hotel. Bathroom needs a big update. I can hear road noise but not sure if it will be loud at night - wish me luck !! The Cherokee tower is great and the Valet parking was easy and did not cost extra. The food is pricey, the Ramsey food court has very good food but it is still a good court. Prices during the week are very good. Gambling is a different story. The slots are tight. No matter how many reviews and AI answers I read about Random Number Generators, there is a random number the casino sets for wins/losses, we gave our donation but did have a good trip. I am stunned that this hotel is sitting at a 2.5 star rating !! Admittedly, I was not expecting much from this hotel, but boy was I surprised!! A friend invited me to join her on a quick get away from Atlanta. This is about a 3 hour drive from metro Atlanta. We arrived on a Thursday and stayed until Saturday. Let's take a step back. When you arrive at this hotel you may be shocked to learn that parking is FREE! Yes you read that correctly- 100% free! We utilized the front desk staff to check in because we did have one thing to address regarding our reservations that we booked in app. The manager that assisted us did make the situation right!! Of note, they do have kiosk that you can use to check in and check out. Once we were checked in , we did have to drive to the parking deck for the Mountain tower. The mountain tower is completely renovated and exceeded my expectations! When I walked into my room I was blown away by the size of the room. It is basically like a studio! It was evident that the rooms were updated! They were also clean and free of any smoke smell!! In addition to this hotel offering amazing rooms, they have an indoor pool, two gyms ( mountain tower gym is older). I highly recommend if staying in the mountain tower walk to the new tower to enjoy the new gym. They also have two outdoor pools for the warmer months, a spa on site, several dinning options, a comedy zone, shops, a bowling alley and entertainment center and of course a casino! We did not leave this hotel until we checked out on Saturday- there honestly is no need to! Overall I think this hotel makes for an amazing get away. There is something for everyone to enjoy themselves. I personally enjoyed sitting in front of the fir pit, the food court, the gym and the casino. I'm beyond sick to my stomach. When I pulled my sheet down to get in bed, there was light spots on the bottom sheet. I called housekeeping, they came up to change the bed. When they pulled the mattress cover off there was menstrual blood. In order for that to transfer to the other sheet that blood had to be still wet. I am thoroughly thoroughly disgusted. read more

Really? Umm, everything could improve. EVERYthing. So, my dad and I enjoy taking short gambling trips together. We live in Atlanta and have always gone to Biloxi in the past. But we decided to try Cherokee, NC this time. Hey, you don't know until you go. So everyone should decide for themselves. This is one woman's experience. The best part of the one night trip (thank God it was just one night) was the beautiful drive! It was amazing! And going around a curve and literally seeing "The Smoky Mountains" smoking ... was magic. I wish I could stop here and leave this review with that magic. Can't. Ok, on with the review. Everything sucked. I really want to call out Gordon Ramsey and the shit hole that is called a "food court" named after him. OMMFG. I understand that we all have to make a buck when and where we can ... but, wow, what a sellout. We went there for lunch and I ultimately decided on a Milky Way bar and Grapefruit juice. Every "food stall" was filled with gross food. My dad picked out a pre-packaged salad and it turned out to be brown and soggy when he opened it. It was Friday afternoon and 1:30. I realized I should have made reservations at one of the two restaurants in the hotel that looked decent (Brio or Ruth Chris) long before we got there. While eating my Milky Way lunch I told my dad I was going back to the room to get on my phone and make dinner reservations. I ABSOLUTELY COULD NOT END UP AT GORDON RAMSEY'S disgusting food court again. In my room, I decide to take a chance on Brio. Listen, Gordon Ramsey's food court is a negative 5. Brio is a good 2. My dad ordered a chopped salad and I had to ask our server, mostly jokingly, "Is the salad brown"? And, you have to love her honesty. She said, "Not most days. Plus you guys are early, so ..." The salad wasn't brown and my salmon salad was a solid 2. Yea! But, the bread was too hard to eat. But, my martini was divine. On to Guy Fieri. His tag line is diners, drive-ins and dives. I think that's his tag line. That's all you need to know. Well, also the service here is, ... it takes a long time. Don't bother doing something stupid, like me, and leave a 30% tip thinking you will come back and get good service (from the same people)! My bad. I asked at least 20 people (on the elevator, in the casino or just passing them in the terminal - as in, airport terminal) ... I asked either "hey, have you gambled yet and how did it go?" or "I am so lost, do you where the Cherokee tower is?" The answers were "I lost my ass or I lost money in the casino" and "I am so lost too. I've been walking this terminal for an hour" respectively. My air conditioner makes a noise so loud I have to turn it off to sleep! It's frigging hot, man! I take Ambien and I can't sleep when it is on. I think that's saying something. I finally got over my irritation for this place enough to go to the casino. Like everyone else, I lost. But that's okay because I came here to have fun, and that includes winning or losing while playing. While I did lose I did have fun while doing so. And the other players were really fun to be around. I got sick with a fever my second day here and my boyfriend's card's chip stopped working and we have been using my card. I asked him to go get me noodles and the noodles restaurant refused to service him NOODLES without a matching ID to the card. He was even buying me alcohol last night without them asking for 2 IDs in addition to multiple meals today. I had to send him somewhere else to get food because I am too sick to go downstairs with my own ID. Honestly, we both have tattoos but full bank accounts. Beyond the clear profiling due to his looks from whoever the Asian chick was working the counter when he tried to order me a TO GO meal, this place is also extremely dilapidated. The luxury room I booked has rust all over the bathroom fixtures, someone sharpied all over my duvet and I haven't complained, the advanced internet has .5 download speed, the pool was genuinely empty but murky and the whole pool room had rust everywhere, and I called the front desk and the chick said she has never heard of them requiring an ID at the noodle place and isn't sure what happened. She said they could charge it to the room (which, his name has been on the room since we first checked in? Girl working the counter simply told him he couldn't order noodles without a matching ID to my card and didn't even mention that being an option) and front desk offered no resolution to the internet issue nor noodle-gate. If you aren't on AARP and a scooter while being an 85+ year old white person, I don't recommend staying here. read more

It's been a while since I've been here, but the place looks much better. We sat outside the casino for a while and had drinks and socialized. We went inside, and it looked so much better than it had. Lots of machines. Plenty of open tables. We were there in the afternoon so it wasn't too crowded. Once I made my money back, then won my husband's money back, we spent the remainder on dinner. I have stay here twice over the last two years to attend gymnastics competitions hosted at this Casino. I have to say I thought the first time was a fluke because in school I studies the Harrah customer service model. Harrahs studies and publication most be completely false because the service and experience was terrible both times. Food options here are good. Everything from Ruth's Chris, Brio Italian, The Noodle Bar, Gordon Ramsey's and several other options. The drink service would get a 5 out of 10 and the table service for games like blackjack, Craps, Roulette, etc are always too busy on the weekends and the management could easily make games more accessible by opening more table. I have been coming here for more than 30 years and as this place grows it always feels like they are running on a skeleton staff. Tables should be opened to accommodate peak hours of play. Especially when concerts and events are taking place. When it comes to the room, Options, there are several different towers when booking do you research to see which one is better for you.Some are much closer to casino floor. And some are much newer and nicer in terms of recent builds. The looking feel of this place is overall very nice and like I said the food options are good as well. I did not stay at the resort but did visit the casino for a few days. This is a very impressive resort. Very stunning location. It is larger than I was expecting (That's what she said!). The place has lots of card tables, other table games, and a ton of slots. There is also a sports betting section. Bring cash because the few ATMs at this place charge $9 a transaction. Drinks at the bars were good but expensive (expected). My only complaint is on Saturday nights it is hard as hell to get a drink. Long lines at the bars. Very hard to flag down a server on the floor. Overall I had a great time. I'm not a big gambler but I did have fun. read more

Stayed at the Casino to attend the Black Crowes concert. We spent one evening and had dinner and played some slots. The property is clean and smoke free!! The dining options are enticing and fun. The prices are not cheap but the quality of the food was decent. We have tried the Italian restaurant which was okay, Gordon Ramseys was great! There are lots of slots, minimal pay out. The table games are fun but never cheap. It is a great escape and the show line up seemed impressive. The rooms are nice but some need updating. The area of Cherokee is beautiful! read more
