I am writing this review for my son who rented a small excavator from New Glarus Hardware - well…read morenot really. He was arranging for soil testing at a home he had an accepted offer on. He had to arrange for a State of Wisconsin and a County employee both to be there to witness the results. In addition he had two architects from north of Milwaukee to create plans for a septic system. These soil tests and septic were contingencies in his offer and the ground was close to freezing which made this the only chance to complete this. He arrived the morning of the rental to find two clueless employees who clearly did not even know he had made arrangements two weeks prior for the rental (and called to change the date due to the weather), the excavator buried in snow from the week before and they didnt even plug it is so of course no chance of getting it started. Basically the employees told him there was nothing they could do. I just wanted you to know that not only did he not get the house, had to rescind the offer, two employees of the State and Country wasted their time and he had to pay the two architects for their time. I WOULD NOT SET FOOT IN THIS PLACE IF IT WAS THE LAST HARDWARE STORE IN WISCONSIN. Unbelievable. Thanks for taking away my son's opportunity and treating the situation like it was no big deal. Well it was!

Purchased a defective item and they refused to give me a refund. I produced the receipt but they…read morewouldn't budge. They claimed that I purchased the item elsewhere even though the receipt clearly showed that it was bought in their store. I had been a customer their for 22 years but from now on I'll do business at Tractor Supply down the street. This isn't the first time I've had trouble with the manager of that store.

Every time I've gone in someone has greeted me and asked if I needed any help. This past Saturday I literally brought my TV with me because I can't find the proper screws for the base. A younger guy took the screw I had most recently purchased (my 3rd attempt), sized it and then took several attempts to find the correct screw. He was running in and out of the store to fit it on the TV (never ended up finding it). At one point another guy was helping us too. This type of service would NEVER happen at the big box stores or even most of the small-town stores. Very appreciative and will visit this store before I go into town to the big box store!

The prices were more than double what I would pay at Lowes. Clerk and an additional clerk sitting nearby started laughing at me and said that it was impossible for that difference ofa price. When i got reception on my phone I went back in to show thier local competition price they again berated me and said I wouldn't get their kind of service at a Lowes. They were correct. i got better service and price at Lowes
