Prices are a little much, but as long as you shop the stuff that's on offer you'll be fine. Shelves are well stocked. Keep a close eye on your produce. Some are top notch. Some are not so much but still pretty spendy. Produce section really needs to rotate product more often for what they're charging. The stars of this place are the staff. Holy wow. I love Harris teeter so I was super excited when I found out one was coming to SMC. I most enjoy this store. The employees have always been friendly and helpful, the store is clean, and there's a variety of items. However, I eat a lot of produce and there have been numerous times I've had to go to another store after leaving HT because they're sold out of something, either that or it's not stocked. They're not exactly the cheapest store in the area so I definitely pay attention to the sales. Some items are much more expensive than other nearby stores. read more

Though new, this place is amazing. It's also 24 hours! They have great deals on produce and meat. They have some exotic fruits too! The meat selection is impressive, they even have tomahawk pork chops. There is a hot bar with wings and Asian food, and there is a salad bar with a lot of options. There is also a soup bar with at least four options. The sushi looked pretty good, though a bit pricey. The same goes for the desserts. I liked that they make pizza there, can't wait to go try it. There's a section for fresh sliced meats, coffee beans/grinds, and snacks. So far I'm impressed with this place and will be shopping here. read more

Love going here for produce. Its fresh with a wide variety. The meat prices are reasonable also when on sale for the family packs. The deli and sushi isn't bad either. Everything else may be a little pricey but with the eVic savings I get some good deals especially with gas. read more

Shelves are well stocked. The variety at seafood department is lacking. The store is clean, well maintained, and with sufficient staff. I've gotten the feel that a few cashiers may benefit from diversity awareness training. I've literally stood and waited for help at the customer service desk, while cashiers who were not waiting on customers stood there and did not attempt to call anyone. I love Harris Teeter! The store is always sparkling clean and there's usually an employee around ready to help. It reminds me of what Publix used to be back in the day. The prices in general are a little higher than their competitors, but I'd rather pay a little more for cleanliness and friendly service. If you shop the sales, it's on par with Giant. I also love that you don't need to buy two of something to get the BOGO deal like at Publix - you can just buy one of the item and get it for half price. Sometimes you just don't need that much salad dressing or Oreos! The ability to order from the deli on the app and just pick it up saves me a lot of time waiting in line. The self checkout is always quick. My only real complaint is that the closest gas station that takes their fuel rewards is nearly 20 miles away so I just let them expire. Also, a few months ago my husband bought some $10 cheese and when he got home we noticed the package was already opened. They wouldn't allow him to return it citing no returns due to COVID but I still think they should have given us a refund without taking the item back. I ended up disputing it with American Express and they refunded me but I think Harris Teeter should have done that. read more

I am so excited to have a Harris Teeter in southern Maryland! Like the stores in the Washington, D.C. metro area. The produce and meat is fresh, the quality of food is amazing! The customer service was overall very good! I am writing Harris Teeter bi-yearly asking for a location to be built in the La Plata or Waldorf Charles County, MD area. We have to travel either 20 miles to the Virginia or 29 miles to California, MD to shop. Other than the distance it was well worth the trip! read more

I welcomed the grocery store when it first opened in St Mary's County. They have yet to disappoint me. They have a salad bar, hot bar, pizza area and fresh sushi made daily. From the deli to the seafood area, it is great. If you buy the store brand you will save money but other brand name items are a bit pricey. I love boars head everything and they carry it all. I love that they offer samples from fresh fruit to cheese. Because of this, I have tried things I normally wouldn't. I will say, the manager is super nice! I have ordered various times from the deli for functions at work. One time, my order was incorrect and she compensated me. I was floored by the gesture. Let's just say they will get my business based off her actions that day. I always recommend them for party trays. They never disappoint on the quality or taste! Left my wallet at home and I live 10 minutes down the street. They wouldn't hold my groceries and told me I had to come back and re-grocery shop for my items. Even though they do grocery orders they could have held mine in a freezer for 10 minutes just moved here hate this Harris Teeter. read more

My wife and I shop at this location every once in awhile. We don't do a full blown shopping list because I think it's a bit pricey. The store is always clean and the shelves are always stocked. The store seems to be laid out nicely. It's one of the nicer grocery stores in the area. The cashiers are nice and efficient and I'm usually greeted by someone stocking the shelves. I enjoy the deserts. So many to choose from and they often have deals. I like the sushi section too. I've ate from the lunch bar and it was ok. It appears that the florals section might be decent. It's nice to be able to pop in this store 24/7. When I visit this store I at least leave with some kinda dessert. read more

DO NOT WORK HERE! They do not treat employees well. They often refuse breaks and lunches to employees. They do not follow their own rules. Their managers are rude and not professional. They use Covid as an excuse for their poor decisions on all issues they have. The managers often are not wearing masks or wearing them the right way, but I see employees wearing them. Stopped by to pick up some lunch meat. Not too crowded, friendly helpful staff, clean, bright, and full of choices, with short lines. Selected some bread, wings, and Prime Rib. Prime Rib was rare, not to fatty and nicely portioned. Cooked potatoes were only warm and several were chewy (like day old). I'm sure they were not. Vegetables were over cooked The price was right, Wings, just ok. Bread was fresh. The gentleman who cut the lunch meat was delightful! This grocery store is amazing! This is exactly what we have been waiting for in SOMD. There is a gigantic produce section with things you cannot find anywhere else in the area. There is a trail mix bar, soup bar, sushi bar made fresh in store, deli counter, premade entree and side section, bread bar, pizza bar, cheese bar, butcher, lobster rolls that are to die for, dinner bar, tons of selection for everything you find in a grocery store, great sales, drive thru food pickup, pharmacy, gigantic health and beauty section, etc. There are tons of registers open with cashiers and self checkout. They have a coin star machine. Kids get a free cookie in the front of the store. Staff is really friendly and helpful. We will not shop anywhere else! read more

The prices are higher than the local Giant on a majority of items and the organic/gluten free selection piles in comparison. ---------- The store is new, and inherently more clean and gorgeous inside than any other grocery store in the county. The prepared foods selection is gargantuan when compared to giant and other grocery stores in the county. The produce section seems to offer more & richer quality veggies. There's a dedicated fish market which is also a nice feature. The meat bar isn't anything special, BJs wholesale club has a much larger selection in grass-fed beef and far better prices ($6 per pound for organic chicken breasts vs $10 per pound @ Harris). Make no mistake, this is an upscale grocery store with the expected upscale price! However, for the average middle class family, I can't see it becoming a part of the grocery shopping routine. Giant's selection is mostly equivalent, based on my first impression and more importantly, their prices are far better than Harris Teeters. 20 cents here, 30 cents there, adds up rather quickly each week and unless they become more competitive, giant will prevail. read more

It's nice to have a supermarket with a larger selection than the stores we currently have. However, two reasons it gets 4 stars: 1. The prices. Dayum! And I thought Giant was expensive. Granted they have sales for VIC members but still, it's a bit too much. 2. The hot bar selection is very underwhelming. Not only are items repeated daily, most of them are bland. I can expect that from Whole Foods which prides itself on organic, non-gmo, bland tastes. The chicken is tasteless (even fried chicken). Parking USED to be an issue but it looks like people aren't too interested anymore so there are spots available. Still room for improvement. read more

Customer service in a retail setting is non existent. Harris Teeter has been a mob scene since they opened. We've moved all Rx to a Teeter like everyone else in our area. All these things combined you can imagine how many people they meet on a daily basis. I filled 1 Rx and Jesvin was the pharmacist on that shift. First and last time I saw him for a month, went through the drove thru, he recognized me, and greeted me by my name. For those of you who are not incredibly impressed by this small gesture, why are you reading this and why are you on Yelp. I walk into many stores through out the week, I don't bother asking for help, I go to the self check out, I set no bar for employee what so ever. My faith in customer service in stores has been gone for a little by time. I teach customer service in restaurant for a living, and this impressed me beyond belief. Jesvin, thank you sir. Harris Teeter is now the only place I shop for groceries. I've waited a couple of months so that I could get a good feel for the store, and no other local grocery is even close to them in product availability or quality of service. Every employee is professional and friendly. Cashiers are helpful, check your eggs, bag food appropriately, and move quickly. Teeter products are good and if you shop here, look for sale items and discount stickers along with the flier promos. If you don't watch pricing, they easily can be considered on the expensive end of the spectrum. It feels like there is 20 of everything here, so variety is aplenty. Seafood from the market is always fresh, friend chicken near the deli is delicious and fresh, and discounted lunch meat assures customers that it's always fresh. I can go on... I love this grocery store but they really need to consolidate all the priority parking spaces. Having to park behind 4 unused handicapped spaces, 2 unused with-child spaces, and 2 unused veterans spaces seems really unnecessary. Handicapped spaces exist for a real reason but the need for veterans/family parking is unusual. If a veteran has an injury and needs to park close, they'll have handicapped tags. And I kind of understand the with-child parking but still, it's unnecessary. Or maybe just put hours on them like 6am-10pm because at 1am (when I usually go) nobody is in the parking lot and walking across so many empty spaces doesn't help anyone. read more

I great place to shop. Lots of people at the registers . It seemed like every single one was open. Lots of friendly people were there. I was already being helped and 3 other people asked me did I need something. Can't find that anywhere else. Love how they send you coupons in the mail and online. Love the app where you can pick out wha you want and just pull up and they bring it out to you. That's $5 fee but it's well worth it if you are short on time. Only thing I can say I don't like about this place is the prices. Even with the vic card and coupons I still end up spending almost twice as much as I would at Walmart. 1. Why are e-vic sale items not posted with the e-vic price? Drives me crazy to be sure I am selecting the correct item on sale. This past weekend 5 lb bag of potatoes was e-vic at 77 cents, they were labeled at 3.49. I guess they don't want anyone to become an e-vic member to get the savings. They play I gotta secret with e-vic weekend sale items. 2. The roasted chickens at the deli are not brown. I asked why not and was told that the browning element is broken and there are not enough broken items in the store to get it fixed. Really!!!! Who wants a roasted chicken that isn't brown? 3. What's with the way they do the checkout? It is so slow. The cashier takes items out of cart, scans and bags. They need baggers. I certainly don't feel "catered too" just because I don't put the items on a belt for scanning. I just don't understand this store, expensive and overall not that great. Updated: Theyve worked out all the issues they struggled with early on in regards to the Online Grocery order/Express Lane. The trick seems to be placing the order the night prior to pick up. It's much more seemless, and you don't have to deal with deli closing early etc. Nice, courteous staff, we especially like Kyle. read more
