Dropped by this Harris Teeter location to grab one item. I rarely come to this one because it is so mismanaged. The self checkout line trailed all the way through the wine department. There were three lines open. They had just opened one line more making that four lanes. Only one lane had the light on. So the other line was all the way back to the pharmacy area. Try to go to service desk, and noticed the manager was helping back the slowest of the unlit lines. Those unlit lines people had to backtrack to make purchases as if they were only taking selective customers. I approached the manager named Lori, and said could I give you some advice or recommend maybe turning the lights on so that there would be multiple lines that would move throughout the store. She sarcastically responded to me. Thanks for your advice. When I tried to explain myself, she cut me off and said again thanks for your advice. It was only open temporarily. I did manage an explicative under my breath as I was walking away as she kept screaming. Have a nice day. Have a nice day. I left without my purchase and refused to ever go back to this location. Huge fan of Harris Teeter, and every time I go to this location, I leave unhappy. Was in and out of Publix, which was twice as busy. Got what I needed and left in less than five minutes. Let me add, they were not understaffed. Lots of staff in the store on their phones and chatting with each other. Those people could've helped with bagging and movement of the lines. Looking back I should have used the word suggestion instead of advice, however I don't think it would have made a difference. read more

Crazy busy and employees park in handicap parking all day long. A nicer variety of items than Publics but still a rudimentary cheese selection. Need to go to Whole foods for good Cheese. read more

Still come here sometimes to get my pizza fix at lunch! The only real negative is the deli still. Not even so much that their printing seems to be broken when I am ordering ahead, that happens, but the workers in the deli I have interacted with recently are just so rude! read more

The ladies at the self check out (specifically three of them, the rest are extremely sweet) are just rude and mean and miserable. The one working this am (Saturday march 29th) was sitting there busy as can be talking to her other work bestie (another of the three rude ones) when I realized I was at a self check out register that didn't take cash. I tried to get her attention but she was busy like I said. The other three were open so I said F it and just went to the other one that DID take cash. After I was done, so was her convo with Bestie so I said "sorry about that one check out that's still up on the screen. I-" she cut me off and said "yeah? So what happened" and I said "I only had cash. I'm sorry about that". She said "well if you woulda told me that I could've just transferred you" I once again, said sorry and she says "well yeahhh" *as she hold arm up in the air in a way that's gesturing I should've known she could've transferred me and shes SO annoyed she has to go through SO MUCH work to void my initial rung in items*. The cashier situation is almost as bad as Walmart. No lanes open and the ones that are move like glaciers. Also, the prices are about 20-30% higher than other grocery stores in the area, which should mean they could hire decent people, and schedule enough of them but the opposite appears to be the case read more

I don't know how anyone can manage to shop here with the way this store smells! It hits you in the face as soon as you walk it, it smells like sewage. Disgusting. read more

While I'm grateful to have Harris Teeter close by, I've had a few rough experiences lately with groceries. Recently, I bought a chocolate bar that expired in January 2018, which shocked me since the store just opened in December 2017. I returned the bar and received a refund, but I've noticed several expired items on the shelves since. In addition, several sale items have been out of stock. The employees are extremely nice, and the prepared food is always wonderful- the salad bar is fresh and I love the variety of ready-made pizza, especially the veggie pizza. I'll continue to shop here because it's so close to home, but shop on the days the sales begin and check dates. read more

The butcher with long hair and beard is rude. No one was there to help me so I pressed the button. He said nothing will happen if I keep pressing the button. I'd hope to get service but I was left with an attitude and a desire to order food instead of grocery shop. read more

This place is not what it used to be. Wait times to check out are ridiculous. You have 2x more staff running around putting online orders together than cashiers available to help real people. Tonight, Friday at 5:20 there were 2 registers open. Yes, 2 and each had a line far into the aisle. There were 2 people in line sitting on the floor and would move up and sit back down. After 20 minutes of waiting I hardly moved. Put my eggs up and left. First time in my life. I am trying to give you money, but this was too painful. Please find a way to fix. read more

I feel like they really do try their darnedest to keep the shelves stocked to the best of their abilities and to offer the best produce available and sometimes the demand can be a little too demanding. I used to not be a Harris Teeter fan, but now I'm a believer. read more

This store is conveniently located on Sam Rittenberg Blvd., however it can be difficult to get in and out of the plaza. It is organized and the shelves are well stocked. They carry a nice selection of wine and beer. They have a lot of on-the-go options like sushi, a trail mix bar, pizza, etc. The donuts are yummy. They have a good selection of meats and seafood. The floral department is stocked with fresh, vibrant flowers and balloons for any occasion. The associates are friendly. read more

Great new store. Nice, bright, well laid out, wide isles, and your typical Harris Teeter selection with some extras that you'd expect from a newer location. There are both teller and self check out options. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is the traffic situation. With the entrance and exits being on Sam Rittenburg and 61, if it's a typical W. Ashley traffic time, you'll never make a left turn out of there. read more

I love double couponing. There is a website on facebook that tells you a couple days before what is going to be on sale so you can gather up all your coupons. You are only allowed 20 per day but it usually goes on for 3-5 days. It really does save money if you do it the right way. read more

Absolutely love this brand new location in Charleston. Overall it feels so much larger and BRIGHTER than the rest. There is room to move, the place is almost always clean and there is ample parking - especially compared to other locations. The starbucks cafe area also offers a decent amount of space. If I happen to be in the West Ashley area, and need groceries. OR if I specifically need to go to Harris Teeter (they do have really great bundle sales!), then I come here. read more

Hands down favorite grocery store. Appealing, easy to get in and out quickly and love the specials. I only knock one star off because self check out really needs to be looked at. You have to leave all your items in the bags on the scale thing even if there's no room or you want your heavier items off. It just gives a message to put it back or it won't continue. I use self check outs in a lot of stores and never had that happen. So that is frustrating. Otherwise love this store! read more

Its better stocked than any of the Walmarts or Food Lions. prices are competitive. It has employees to ask for help and check you out. Traffic is a pain in the parking lot. Who do you got to hump around here to find some eggnog? Seriously, this place is a 4.5, and would be a 5* experience, if not for the hunt for eggnog that took place. A couple of days after opening, and wow, THE NEW STORE SMELL! Everything is clean, and bright. I like HT's, because it is usually a store that you can get almost anything you are looking for, including some hard to find local seafood. Things that stood out to me. Living in West Ashley for over a year, I knew how this plaza looked like, before the renovations started. The renovations were a great touch, but Harris Teeter kicked it up a notch with their arrival. While many will notice the traditional drive up that has been known for newer HT's, many will walk unoticeably by the landscaping that is out front. I thought even JUST that little strip of grass, bushes, and flowering shrubs was a beautiful touch and made wish that more plaza's had greenery. Much of the store is well laid out, except for eggnog. It's December, the time of yule and nog. And it's hard to make eggnog pancakes without, well, eggnog. You would expect the eggnog to be in the dairy case near the milk, buttermilk, lactose free milk, creamer, etc... After looking for 5 minutes or so, an about to retreat in defeat to the front desk, I saw an end-cap case... with orange juice, cheese, and eggnog, sitting by their lonesome in a corner at the bottom. I mean who puts eggnog in a corner? If you can't put baby in the corner, why put eggnog in the corner? There was about 5 different brands and types of eggnog though, including a couple of organic versions. I got the organic eggnog, which is normally $5 for a dollar off with the VIC card. And there was much rejoicing. The only thing is that this location is not 24/7 yet, but it puts another alternative in the area, and allowed me to use the word eggnog 12 times in a review. What a SHAME!!! Gorgeous store. Deli gals have a lot to learn about customer service. Especially when people are on their lunch! Never ever again. 5 ladies one tall thin man not even hey how are ya? Too busy talking to each other. Then the young woman slicing meat asked the bread lady to help. I only needed a tub of coleslaw. None in the front so she grabs the bowl from the display. I asked her how old it was she replied I don't know a couple days! Nasty .... If I could have given no stars I would have trust me. I have to complain. Got a bag of Clementines had to return for black moldy stuff on them and half of them were soft. The previous week I got a personal size watermelon which was mush inside. Worst checkout in the city. 20 min plus to check out. Most inefficient system I have ever seen. This is less a staffing issue, though clearly they need more staff but worse a bad ergonomic approach to checkout. They need to learn something from Aldi or even Publix. read more

This pharmacy is an absolute disgrace.. they not only lied to our pediatrician about having medication not once but twice just to get business. They never have anything in stock. Every time we have had a prescription sent in they tell us it will take one to two days for it to come in. Now I understand that these days everything is hard to come by but to lie and tell not only a customer but a doctor that they have medication is down right deplorable. Harris teeter has not only lost my business for the prescriptions but I will no longer be using them for food shopping as well. Even though I love publix, Harris Teeter has become my favorite place also! I love that they always have good deals and also have different deals on dinners each day. I love that you can get a whole sub for 5$ every Friday just make sure you have your Vic card. The workers there are so willing to help and always smiling. read more

New built HT in the heart of West Ashley. The location is very convenient for us that live in the area. Before you had to drive a little ways to get the quality you wanted from a HT. Still fairly new, the place is very clean and has an excellent selection of self-service option, which is a big plus. The salad bar is one of my favorite places to go for a quick bite to eat. My issue with the place is that the staff isn't very friendly or accommodating. read more
