We loved this Harris Teeter being so close and convenient to the Marriott we stayed at. The prices were very reasonable for groceries and food. There is a Starbucks inside, a deli, a hot foods selection, salad bar, sushi, etc. We were not in the mood to go to a restaurant, just wanting to bring something back to our hotel.... my husband had a sub which he said was great and I had the hot bar with the salmon filet and veggies and green beans. I was surprised by how delicious it all was! very filling and good. we just sat on the patio at our hotel and ate and it made for a great evening. Would go back if we stayed longer and stock up on more groceries and snacks. Service was excellent, everyone was very friendly. read more

Harris Teeter at Fresh Fields is that friendly grocery story with that small town feel. The grocery store has a large deli with a good selection of both hot and cold items along with the healthy and not so healthy items. We stopped in here while shopping and the restroom was a mess and didn't have toilet paper. For such a nice shopping area, the bathroom was reminiscent of a dirty gas station restroom. read more

I used to shop at Harris Teeter religiously when I lived in Charlotte, NC quite some time ago. This is the first time I have been to one since then. I was actually really happy that they had one near where we were staying on Seabrook Island. The prices are reasonable, they have a good selection of food stuffs,, and they also have a great deal on fresh baked pizza Monday's. It's only $7.99 per pizza, and we certainly took advantage of this! It was very good. They happened to overcook one of them but they were VERY busy! The manager gave us that pizza free. It is good to have a very standard grocery store in a resort/vacation area. We happened to bring the majority of our food with us, but were very pleased to find we didn't have to pay double the price for items that we needed! We will certainly be shopping here again while we are here and when we return! read more

The deli department has a lot of trouble filling online or phone orders correctly. I ordered 5 subs and they only made the 3rd one, though the sticker clearly said 3/5 leaving there were four others they should have been making. The stickers were on the printer. I said ok, one time mistake plus they graciously gave me the subs free. The deli lady told me it's better to call orders in. Today I called in a fried chicken order and spoke to a guy who asked for my name and asked what time I wanted it ready. Got to the store and they didn't have my order written down. So frustrating! The Starbucks was out of cups one day last week too and rather than offering one size up since it was their fault they still charged you for a Venti. It's a busy store with people who are nice working there but there are some areas for improvement for sure. Management is aware and seems to be working on it. read more

There is NO EXCUSE for this market not to provide sanitizing wipes for the grocery carts. This is a resort area with people from all over buying merchandise. During the COVID-19 outbreak the least we can expect is wipes for the carts. Shame on you!! Every other grocery store has managed this. I understand it is difficult to provide for the public to buy for personal use but as a corporation you are being negligent in not providing cart wipes. read more

We shop at Harris Teeter at least twice a week. Great sandwiches and pizza to grab and go. Also, love the VCI specials! Very nice staff.

Not a bad store, although I liked it better when it was Newton Farms. They REALLY need to have the smaller carts available; they are more convenient, safer and easier to maneuver through this store's very narrow aisles. The deli is excellent, but over-priced. For an upscale store the produce department is rather small and not impressive. They lack some basics like furniture polish -- they don't even carry lemon oil -- and when I asked they pointed me to aerosol Pledge! (That's not furniture polish, and I would never put that on good wood furniture.) They also need to carry juices and more sodas in single serve sizes. I do like that they always are ready to open another check-out lane. read more

I love Harris Teeter's as a whole and this one is in a nice looking building in beautiful Freshfields Village. I will say that I do get a little frustrated with this location because the isles are too small and the layout is not very good. With that being said it is always very clean, they have a nice deli, coffee bar, and a great meat department. With the nice looking store and all of these amenities it's too bad that the experience is always less than what I've come to expect from the brand because of the layout and space issues. read more

Alas, it appears that Harris Teeter has purchased the old Newton Farms Piggly Wiggly. Now, I like Harris Teeter. It's where I shop in North Carolina. Unfortunately, part of the appeal of vacationing in the area was the excursion to the quaint local supermarket. That quaint market feels more corporate now. I'm not sure the prices have really gone down, either. The buyout also comes with the sad reality that a big-box store doesn't fit well in the space of a small grocer. There are still some things missing that would be in a normal HT (we had one heck of a time finding organic lettuce, for instance). The tipping point hinges upon a program that they're running which gives people from eastern European countries the opportunity for a work exchange program. Now, I think this is fantastic. In theory, at least. Young people get exposed to new cultures and get valuable work experience in the process. Unfortunately, the grocery store has these folks manning service counters and walking the sales floor, and most of them cannot speak English. This is a bit of a problem in a customer service job. Asking where the jam is should not have to involve someone going to the back to fetch a manager. This happened about three times during a single visit (the getting a manager, not the jam part. I promise, we don't eat that much jam), because these employees seemed to comprise about 1/4 of the staff. I wish HT were utilizing these folks in a way that would expose them to customers a little less, or at the very least staggering their schedules so that customers aren't running into a non-English speaking employee on every aisle. As it is, it's a great program that unfortunately ends up frustrating customers a bit. All in all, our consensus was that we greatly miss the old overpriced Piggly Wiggly. For better or worse, it was an integral part of the vacation in years past. read more

Beautiful grocery, much like the Kroger back home. Great food but limited space. They also have a Starbucks in the store. 4 stars instead of 5 because of all the dopey affluent vacationers who were causing traffic jams because they were out of their comfort zones. Staff and quality of food score the 5 stars. They prepared a platter of chicken Parmesan at a reasonable price and everyone loved it! Three days later and people are still talking about the quality of the platter. Don't cook while you are on vacation - let fresh market do the work and you won't regret it. Also - Local peaches for $.99 a pound can't be beat. Organic eggs at 3.50. This is better than the prices where we live. read more

Staying on Seabrook Island this was the closest grocery store and we needed a few basic provisions. This review is based on 2 trips to the store. The store was busy (but it's the summer season so everywhere here was busy). The prices are a little higher than other stores (wine was approx 30% higher compared to prices in other stores/states). I was not happy with the check out process as on both occasions an item was added to my bill and had to be voided out before I paid. The first time it was a 2-person inflatable boat at 29.99 (!?!) and the second time it was a seasonal item at $14.99. I noted these on the screen both times and raised it with the checkout assistant. No apology, no explanation? Disappointing. read more

Great selection albeit at higher prices due to location but the cashiers all provide courtesy store card for items on sale. Great service and thoughtful employees ... no blackberries one day, immediately substituted with strawberries that were 2x the price on that day. Excellent supermarket with an extensive selection. Shopped there twice two days before Thanksgiving and the day before Thanksgiving when the store was very busy, but there were no lines and the employees were extremely friendly, courteous, and helpful. read more

A big disappointment. The staff is unhappy, unprofessional, and unfriendly. There were a couple people wanting to help but the atmosphere is glum and the eating area where they make the sub sandwiches was filthy. I observed while sitting at a very dirty table there were trash cans overloaded, floors dirty and food made in advance was covered to try to keep flies off of it. I was there yesterday for the Oktoberfest and was very disappointed in their lack of gluten-free options. Was there again this morning to get a cup of coffee to head out. Unprofessional, unwilling staff. Newton farms always had good choices, friendly service, and options were very fresh. Have been going to the area now for six years and will avoid this store in the future. read more
