My understanding, they recently started doing this 7-10 years ago. Apparently it gets better and better each year. I found out it was featured on a hallmark movie Christmas in Mississippi for reference. But apparently they have been to this amazing event for a while now. Especially since they remodeled the park. And the icing on the cake. The new attraction of the new aquarium. Located in the heart of downtown Gulfport, in Jones Park on the corner of Highway 90 and Highway 49 at Gulfport harbor. They do not have any parking spaces next to the event. However, they do offer close proximity parking to either walk over from the west side of the marina. East parking in the aquarium garage. They offer free parking and shuttle/buses (provided by your local CTA for both ends. It's a free service but welcome a little Christmas gift if you desire. I recommend parking at the garage since it is well lit and easy to walk if you desire since they built the new overpass from the aquarium to the park. The west end has plenty of parking but not as well lit but closer to the event. In my opinion. Speaking of the bus service, they have plenty of them and service is great and quick. Do not be discouraged if you are waiting for a while for them. Cause you will not. A few minutes tops. That was my experience. I noticed that if you have person that requires extra attention. You can drop them off at the front of the park. And they will gladly assist you. Also guide you to find the best place to park. They encourage you to have the best experience possible. Admittance fee can vary on what day you go. They do accept cards. No discount at the booth that I am aware of. They have a train service that will take you around the park and enjoy the park lights. If you do not want to walk around the whole time. Please reach out to the ticket office for details. They also off few rides in the park (carnival) and delicious food (fair type) hot chocolate, and hot coffee ( or cold/frozen too) . They have plenty of the upscale portable restrooms on site for your convenience. Definitely recommend check it out if you are on the coast. Nice little trip to the coast and especially exploring what other great restaurants and attractions the hosts. Especially plan accordingly to go in the early evening to get the full experience of Christmas lights and weather permitting. Per this article, remember to dress appropriately, it can get kind of chilly in the evening since the temperature drops and of you get breeze. Fun for all ages and great group or family event. In my opinion. The staff is amazing and willing to help you out with your stay. World class experience! Service with a smile!

It happens every year in the City of Biloxi and apparently I got to attend the 38th year celebration! Usually it happens around September each year and is on the weekend only. The location usually changes year to year but most of time in the same vicinity. This year it so happened to be in Biloxi Town Green which is right across from the Hard Rock Hotel. The admission is $5 for adults and $15 for the Gumbo contest they do on the last day which provides a cup of gumbo from each team. We decided to go on a Sunday and parked our cars at the Hard Rock parking lot and quickly crossed the street to the entrance. Immediately we noticed hundred of vendors and people selling local items from there business to the crowd but we came for the food. We noticed a large food stand selling plenty of items of seafood and other items such as turkey legs, alligator, and even shark. Most of the items there were fried and they even had crawfish platters. They sell Italian sodas and snow balls to beat the heat as well. Other vendors that were there was a BBQ truck with brisket, pulled pork sandwiches, and also tamales. I went ahead and got 1 tamale and wow it was creamy and had perfect flavor and spice. The size wasn't all that but it was good to go in my books. They also had a boiled seafood pavilion with blue crabs, seafood platters, and shrimp. We went ahead and got the half dozen blue crabs steamed with a side of deep fried jalapeno peppers. They were very fresh and sweet however the peppers just wasn't my thing because they seemed to be sitting out to long. They have a huge covered tent pavilion where you can go in and beat the heat by sitting under some shade eating your meals. This even had live bands and alcohol, face painting, and even huge air bounce houses for the kids at a set price. Overall love the ideas of celebrating South Mississippi rich seafood culture but just wish there was more seafood options and a lot on non fried options as well. Its a great family fun event to attend and enjoy the beautiful Gulf Coast!

Art in the Pass is one of the best art focused events I have ever attended…read more I am not what you would consider a festival fanatic. Often they are too crowded, have no parking, or aren't worth the price of admission. This festival was free, had nearby parking and while crowded, was well laid out so the crowds weren't an issue. The festival was separated into three different areas that I will discuss individually. Art - Upwards of 100 different artists participated in this festival. There were paintings, drawings, mixed media, folk art, stained glass art, photographs and even some items that fit into the category of other. Artists had to compete to get in so there weren't too many artist in one category. There were pieces that ranged in price from very reasonable to more expensive, but everything seemed fairly priced. I actually thought some of the photos were under priced considering the quality of the images so some folks got a great bargain. Kids Area - These folks know how to do a festival right. In addition to the art which my kids hated, there was a giant tent with activities they loved. There was a very large display by marine agencies that included animal skulls, live animals and provided information on studying and maintaining the marine habitat. Even though this area was designed for kids I got a huge kick out of being able to handle a whale vertebrae and sea turtle skull. There was also a pretty neat raptor show that involved birds of prey as opposed to dinosaurs, but it was cool nonetheless. Food - Festival food is always one of the best things about a festival. Food here ranged from fish plates sold by the local church to funnel cake to BBQ. There were also gourmet popsicles from Pop Brothers that seemed to be well received. In addition to the three areas, here are some other topics you may find of use. Parking - The parking along Scenic Drive was pretty full as was the on street parking around the park. The place to park was the lots in downtown Pass Christian near the town pavilion. From there it was only a two block walk to the festival. People - Everyone we encountered was friendly. The few exceptions were smokers. Although outside, I think this festival should be non-smoking. The few smokers puffing up were inconsiderate of others and were smoking in and around the tents set up for artists. Hey smokers: take that garbage elsewhere. In closing, this is a great festival.

It is so inexpensive and a great place for all ages. Even as an adult, I enjoy and learn from the museum. They continually have relevant events and special weeks/days throughout the year with themed celebrations and activities. As soon as you child is mobile, this would be a fun museum to visit regularly. We go once a week and spend an hour or two in one of the many themed rooms/areas and I don't see my child ever tiring of visiting here. There is an outdoor playground, outside "kids street" mini town, and inside there is a dedicated area for younger children, and themed areas including STEM, outer space, grocery, crafts, and many more. Now keep in mind that membership is CHEAP so don't expect the latest and greatest toys, activities, and technology. Cleanliness isn't stellar but I have never had any issues here with staff, hygiene, or my child being bored. I would highly recommend a membership here over the aquarium! So much more to do for all ages and a great rainy day activity.

For what was working and present it was ok, nothing too crazy. Probably wouldn't recommend for 7+read more
