The store carries a nice variety of local produce, meat, cheese, syrup and other goods along with necessitates. Prices are on the high side, as you may expect from a specialty store in a resort area. The new owners are super friendly and helpful. First, we selected two of their house made apple cider donuts with sugar. The donuts were divine, soft cake with lots of cinnamon, sugar and apple flavor. I would stop by every day for those donuts if I lived here. We ordered the soup of the day, homemade French Onion The soup was hot with lots of melted cheese and tasty croutons. The soup was a tad too sweet, but good otherwise. My cousin ordered the egg salads sandwich, which is enormous and delicious. The sandwich is served on a long piece of French bread ladened with egg salad. Highly recommend the egg salad. I had the Chopped Italian Grinder, which also came out on a long piece of French Bread. There was a lot of bread for the amount of meat/cheese on the sandwich. The grinder was ok. There is a small but adequate parking lot. Overall, we loved the donuts and egg salad. I'd definitely return to try other things on the menu.

The bagged chicken tenders are better bet. I wish they would do the Nashville hot again that was the best flavor. These also have time and date stamps on them. For someone like myself who spent many years in the restaurant business and food service I don't understand how they can just leave stuff out and not explain when it was put out. I did reach out to the company a few months ago regarding this issue which they never replied to me about, which is poor customer service, as well as not backing up your procedures with actual food safety! I have never gotten sick from eating it but some of the time has been so bad that it's inedible and that's when I contacted the company. Why put stuff out if you don't give a crap? When I was going to continuing ed in Manchester, the Bedford store, And Goffstown stores we're always well maintained in this regard. As for the rest of the Keene store the seafood counter is always spot on and I've never had problems with their deli, or produce etc. The bakery items they have as most grocery stores do are the quick rise kinds of breads and cakes probably made with hydrogenated oils. That said I don't buy my bread products from the store unless it's just a bun to make a cold cut sandwich. It's honestly still probably one of the better grocery stores in Keene. Market basket though is giving it a run for its money these days though. It's slightly cheaper at least for produce and many other things. Aldi across the street is pretty fantastic in certain ways but doesn't have the selection of products that Hannaford's does Back when people were wearing masks some of the people attending to the checkouts at this were not the most pleasant as well they would make you remove your mask( which I didn't want to wear in the first place) to validate alcohol. I don't understand how society can be this confused about cross-contamination if they are worried about such things, as I have worked in medical environments that doesn't make sense. It's a bananas world and some people just follow orders.

We knew we were soulmates when Indian was both our favorites, and our first date way back in the stone age was at a wonderful Indian restaurant back in California (also sadly closed--tough times for restaurants in general, but especially for niche ones). Then, out of the blue, we found out another Indian restaurant just opened in Keene...and a Yelper mentioned that Indo-American Grocery in Brattleboro, who also owned the defunct India Palace, still did take out! You can bet your bottom bippy that we got takeout the very day, a Wednesday. They don't have the full menu that India Palace did, but it's not bad, and it's only available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Which is a heck of a lot more than we *were* getting, so we're ecstatic. We tried the vegi pakoras, which are spinach and onion fritters. Heavy like hushpuppies, but very tasty, especially with the chutney they added to the takeout bag. Samosas were big and very greasy, needed salt to perk them up. The saag paneer was the best I've had outside of California. Long-cooked, well-spiced (but not too spicy, for the heat-phobic) but again, needed a dash of salt. Channa masala was very, very, very good. Possibly the best I've had, period. The kids loved it with the basmati rice, the mister loved it with the diced onion chutney (and he is NOT a channa fan, in general). We can't wait to go back. They don't make their own bread, but it's an Indian grocery; there's all sorts of frozen and shelf-stable choices if the rice isn't your starch of choice. Parking is a little tricky on that side of Elliot but I had no trouble finding parking just around the corner.
