I went there on Good Friday afternoon (around 14:00). It was way too crowded to walk around this place. There were too many people everywhere and it was hard to see things. Harrods is a must stop when in London. Whether you are intending to spoil yourself; or just do some insane window shopping, you must stop here. I think a lot of times people get scared away by the glitz and glamour, but Harrods does also offer relatively affordable items as well. For example, if you are looking for unique and delicious treats to take back home from your trip, I would suggest coming here! Harrods has a tremendous candy and treat section and they always have items on clearance, but their chocolates and unique items are just to die for. If you are a bit tea fan, I also recommend spending some time here as they have similar items to what you will find at Heathrow, but a bit cheaper. Their Fortnum Mason selection of chocolates in beautiful boxes make for great gifts! If you know Heathrow much, you know you can get these last minute gifts at the airport. But why do that when you can experience Harrods and get some samples! I also love the " food court" here. To be clear, it's not anything like a " food court" in the states. It's very upscale, but you gets some amazing selections. If you are feeling like you need a break from all the shopping, you can stop and get some caviar and bubbles. Or if you're wanting something a bit more filling, they have a great steak bar where you can get a delicious steak or a burger. If you are a BIG shopping fan like me, I would highly suggest giving yourself ample time to come here and really wander through all the floors. I have been here right at opening time, middle of the day, right before close, and I always feel like I needed more time. Opening time is probably best so you can work up an appetite. If you come during the holidays they have the cutest setup with lights so it's a great place for pictures. Their purse and show sections are my two faves. They have such unique designs from well known high end designers, but items that you may not have ever seen. Somehow and someway I knew I had to visit Harrods before I left London! It surely was quite the experience for me! I've always heard that Harrods is considered THE department store to visit in London. My main purpose was to visit the gift shop. On my way to find the gift shop, I saw tons of amazing products on the shelves on each floor level. Harrods is ultimately a playground for the super rich! The store is filled with super expensive and unique items. If your bank account is filled with lots of zeros you will love shopping here. On the other hand, if you are average like myself you'll definitely want to check out the gift shop for some souvenirs. Most tourists were here trying to put as many items in their carts as possible. The gift shop was incredible! They have so many cute and unique items that range from cookies, to specialty chocolates, to handbags, to pens, to notebooks and more. I was blown away by everything! Keep in mind that just like Harrods itself, things are not cheap in the gift shop. I found myself walking out of there with about 2 journals and 3 pens that cost me 45 pounds! The store is gorgeous and upscale and you will love it if you visit. Sadly while I was here the outside was under construction so I wasn't able to get a decent picture of the exterior of the building. read more

I absolutely loved this place. If you're from NY- I'm going to say this is a very bougie version of SAKS Fifth Ave- but that's also an understatement. Every encounter we had here, no matter what store, restaurant, or salon, was impeccable. Everyone's service was superb- it was impressive! The elevators were decorated so nicely and really fun to take selfies in lol. I think my favorite section was the technology space where they had a ton of creative stuff to decorate your home or office with. My second favorite were the restaurants and dessert spaces. They were decorated so nicely and the presentation of our desserts were so pretty I felt so bad eating it. In addition to that, the view of the city from the top floor was so nice! When the hotel concierge suggested taking a walk to Harrods, my husband and I were initially a bit confused. Why would we want to go to a department store as something to do? When we entered Harrods, we were blown away by the size and selection. This place makes Macy's in NY look like a corner boutique store in size. This place is huge and has food courts, a toy store, an electronics store, and about a hundred other departments that we can't even remember. Man, this place is TACKY - especially the faux-Egyptian decor inside, where the main escalators are. I guess the connection is less obvious but if you know that Mohammed Al Fayed (Dodi's dad) the billionaire from Egypt owns Harrods then I guess it makes sense. I made the rounds at the women's floors and shoe floors and yes, everything you've read is correct, almost every huge name designer has it's own individual space here, not just the big names like Chanel, Fendi, Versace or Dolce and Gabbana but also less-well known designers with a cult-like following like Azzedine Alaia or Mary Katrantzou. I just breezed through because really, I'm not going to buy $6500 shoes right now. All the displays are lovely and the salespersons quite frankly looked bored. Now the food court. This in itself boosted my rating to 5 stars which otherwise I would have given 3 1/2 stars if I could. Pace yourself. There are a number of separate rooms for the food halls. One was just prepared foods, like sushi, pasta, roast beef and just about anything else that could be prepared up for sale. I guess if your cook has the day off and you're living in a posh part of London like Knightsbridge, then this would be the place to get some food. Then there's another room just devotes to chocolates. Yes. Chocolates. If you have a sweet tooth and have some kind of chocolate addiction, you have been warned. This place will convert you into a diabetic. I had to practise extreme austerity on myself and limited myself to just two boxes of chocolates to bring home. Then there is another room just for teas, biscuits, sauces and jams. This is where you can really stock up to bring stuff back home and are very easy to pack and the customs folks won't hassle you with. Harrods has an amazing collection of tea biscuits, shortbread cookies, lemon curds, loose teas. I bought a number of lemon curds and biscuits for my afternoon tea and have been enjoying them ever since I came back home. They also sell a few truffle-based products from France. When I was in Paris last fall, I picked up truffle salt (sea salt with bits of dried truffles in it which lends the salt an extraordinary smell and taste) at Marche L'Epicierie. Had no idea I would go through it so quickly but I was delighted to see it here as well and stocked up accordingly to take home for myself and as gifts. Seriously Harrods is a great place to check out and should be a part of every London visit but if you're a persons who also likes to cook at home, the food halls alone are worth coming here. read more

We decided to head over to Harrods for dinner on our first night in London, which is a super high end department store located in Knightbridge and we were blown away by their food court, which included a Cavier bar, raw seafood and of course a sushi bar. So we ordered three sushi rolls which were the salmon roll, spicy tuna roll and Harrods roll special. The salmon and spicy tuna roll were very fresh and delicious while it was not too spicy. The Harrods roll special was the most unique and it included snow crab, avocado, topped with scallops and both black and orange cavier. It was the most delicate sushi I have ever had, if it were for the price tag we would of ordered one more. read more

Nice upscale café in the center of Harrods (3rd floor). Ambiance: I enjoyed the ambiance here. As you would expect being in Harrods, the establishment feels like a very upscale casual café. Nicely lit with beautiful interior decor. Service: while the wait staff all wears suits whilst they serve you, the service here was slow. It was kind of a disaster when it rains in London based on my first time experience which was on this day lol Bc we kind of had to stroll our luggage thru the rain. I didn't have an umbrella and didn't bother to buy one either. Just put on my beanie and be done with it. I also realized a lot of people don't use umbrellas here. Maybe they're used to it or maybe they're all tourists like me who didn't bother to get one. Who knows. Haha Anyway, we went to Harrods after settling down at the hotel. I forgot it was Saturday so it was super duper packed! It was definitely 3 times the amount of people I saw 5 years ago. My friend's co-worker recommended the truffle pasta there at the Fresh Market section. Basically, you pick the one you want, they'll give you a lid and Bill to pay at the cashier or self service area, they'll cook your order while you pay. Then bring it back to the front and they'll give you the food. The utensils are next to the payment area. I didn't see any places to sit so we just kind of ate standing around. Hahaha I got Beef and Black Truffle Tortelloni. It was only 10gbp for about 8 pieces. It was cheesy and definitely trufflicious! There are other ones with black truffle too so I do recommend to go try it if you are ever around the area. Of course, there are other places to eat. There are restaurants at the Dining Hall section. Don't forget to shop for souvenirs! Chocolates, teas, luxury goods...that might be a little too expensive for souvenirs but some of you might be rich enough to get some of those but not me lol, etc. Oh boy, the desserts looked amazing too but I was too stuffed to eat any. Harrod's is the department store of all department stores. It's the mothership - prototype of all department stores. To say Harrod's is huge is an understatement. It is enormous! One can easily get lost in the pure enchantment that adorns this marvelous place. The restaurants and grocery store are oddly my favorite parts, and probably the parts that are most frequented by tourists. The second most frequented area is undoubtedly the gift shop (for souvenirs). Some good mementos can be found up there. This time around, our schedule really didn't allow for much time to visit Harrod's, but it is well worth the commute when in London. read more

This was a fun place to walk around but I am not sure if I would actually shop here as the prices were pretty crazy and the selection was so-so from a clothing perspective. I much prefer the selection at Saks 5th or Barney's in NYC. Harrods seemed to have a Persian/Middle Eastern emphasis in terms of the fashion and perfumes, which was understandable because most of the people I saw actually buying expensive things were Middle Easterners. The food court was the thing we enjoyed the most, oddly. Everything was super fresh and unlike Wholefoods where things just sit out under heat lamps and were probably made the night before, you could see employees preparing pretty much any world cuisine before you. There were also products like fruitcakes, mince pies, etc. boxed and available for take home or giving. They had spices, wines and champagne, etc. We spent the most time walking around the food court. The store wasn't quite as ornate as we expected it to be ... it was massive, but was broken up into little rooms and passages. I did expect a lot more wood paneling, gold leaf and intricate carving. It was more stone and brass. It looked a little Donald Trumpian with all the brass and polished gold metal accents. The elevators were fancy for sure. I went to the cigar store in the basement, which was a little odd. The selection wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Mostly tubed Cuban cigars. The duty free store at Gatwick airport had just as good a selection at 30 - 50% cheaper prices. The same Montecristo cigar I bought at Harrods was 10 gbp cheaper at the duty free store. Plus, it is a small, closet sized room with no glass doors which you go into with an employee who stands there while you browse. Kind of awkward although the chap was nice, polite and not at all pushy who showed me around. You will pay more here than you would at just about any other place, but I guess it is all about the convenience of having everything all under one roof. We were literally amazed at the number of employees who were working (or standing around) in Harrods. Their payroll must be astonishingly high. Overall, we are glad we visited but the gaudy fashion geared more towards different parts of the world weren't for us. It seemed like everything was very loud and over the top from a fashion perspective ... lots of black leather with metal studs and zebra print patterns. I guess you can't go to London without saying that you purchased something at Harrods. Next time, we will come for the food court. read more

Gorgeous maze with tens of thousands of things I cannot afford. We did however, have a few of the single best desserts offered directly on the Prime Meridian. I consider myself a red velvet connoisseur, having sampled the finest offerings across the lands. Harrods offers the single best slice I've put in my cake hole. The wife also raved about her fancy chocolate bar shaped dessert (and for £8, it had dang well better have been). Everything we sampled was incredible. Well done, Harrods! read more

Ridiculously over the top in every way, but I feel like it's a must see once in your life while in London. It takes up a whole long city block and is so huge inside too with five floors and a massive food hall. And it's crazy busy to match it. Once you go inside, the security tells you to flip your backpack around while in the store if you're wearing one. Hubby said the bathroom was very fancy and even had a bathroom attendant. Never seen any department store back in the states or in Paris have that! I received no attention while browsing around the contemporary clothing or at the YSL handbags, but whatever. The woman working behind the Creed counter and a woman in the food gift section were very nice. As well as a couple gentleman in the fine men's watches section. We ended up buying the loose leaf tea that the woman gave us samples of. The food in the food hall all looked so good. Money ain't no thing here, with rare high end watches, 5 foot plus Harrod's stuffed bears costing around £2,500, exquisite bottles of liquor and Dom Perignon in the basement for sale amongst even more restaurant choices. There's even a floor dedicated to high end woman's fashion houses in which they make their own little boutiques out of them. So this is how the 1% in Great Britain shop? I would love me some of that. Next visit to London, I'll make sure to come hungry so I can try out their food hall offerings. Go check out Harrod's once in your life. This place is mind blowing. I've never seen a store with so much detail like Harrods in my life! The presentation of specialty foods & presentation were perfect and some the prices shocking. We purchased items like teas and candies that were for family souvenirs and I must say they were tasty and uniquely different. You can easily spend hours here at this mega department store and there was so much we didn't cover since we came later in the day after visiting several museums. I made the mistake of visiting this place during the "there is only one sale" time. It was packed on every floor with barely any room to move. The only sections that were not full of people were the fine alcohol and fine jewelry sections. Every food venue was packed to ridiculousness with no organized queue. The restrooms had lines coming out of the door. That aside, this is basically a tourist riddled Rodeo/ South Coast Plaza crammed into one building. I have no idea what the big deal is, as each section of designer has less inventory that what is available in their full stores. One thing that really made me think twice was the sheer volume of house-branded merchandise lying around. It reminded me of Kirkland and Costco. They get a bonus star for having just about every high end brand imaginable, even if they only carried a few items. Conveniently located next to the Knightsbridge tube exit. read more

Goodness gracious. Macy's and Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City are both behemoths, jammed full of people and stuff to buy. Harrod's, however, takes things to a level that is simply unimaginable. I could write on and on describing the place, but let's just say it is huge and every single luxury good from every single luxury designer in every size, shape and color. There is also the famous food hall, which has every kind of food imaginable. Think of it as a sort of old school food court, but without the nasty fast food. I went in there to buy a shirt from a brand that is really hard to find in the US. I found something I liked, tried it on, received good customer service, bought the shirt and left. Every since I was little, I adore coming to Harrods. I just love spending the day browsing the different floors. The Egyptian themed staircases/escalator are pretty cool. My favorite is the book shop floor, where there's a ton of Harrod's merchandise and two giant Teddy Bears guarding the entry way. The food/grocery floor is also pretty neat. Plus, it's right on the Knightsbridge stop on the Picadilly line. Around Christmas time, is definitely magical! The main structure of the building is decorated all around in fairy lights. read more

This is definitely a must visit if you're in London. It's basically a super luxury department store with absolutely everything! From high end clothing, to jewellery, accessories, handbags, food, desserts, baked goods, etc! Since I'm a foodie, I decided to check out most of the food sections. The variety of foods they have is equivalent to a grocery store, except the foods they have seem higher quality and are definitely at a higher price. They had really interesting foods, desserts, etc that you don't really see elsewhere and that would totally match a luxury department store like gold colored cupcakes! They even have pre-made food that you can take away. One thing I did order was a scotch egg, which was the first scotch egg that I've had - it was a bit too salty for my tasting but was definitely rich and had a great soft egg in the center! Even though I'm not into shopping nor into luxury brands, I thought it was interesting to stop by and visit and see what it's like! Walking into Harrods was like walking onto a British film set. Yes, it is one of those places I had seen in countless of films, and visiting was like a dream come true.  Harrods is a beautiful and glamorous department store located in Knightsbridge, which opened in 1849, and is one of the most famous attractions in the world today. The store spans over seven floors and has over 330 different departments, making it the biggest department store in Europe!  Harrods stocks everything, and I mean everything. Designer clothing, perfume, accessories, shoes, makeup, children's clothing and toys, technology, homewares, food (my favourite section), beautiful teas, decadent chocolates, wine, food hampers, and last but not least, souvenirs... but not the souvenirs you would buy from a street-side stand. They sell Harrods bags, cups and mugs, travel accessories, jewellery, soft toys, stationery... and many more things. We didn't have a whole lot of time here, since by the time we made our way to Harrods, they were about half an hour away from closing. And, to be honest, once my husband saw the huge selection of meat pies on sale within the food hall, I had no chance of seeing any other part of the store. So, this review is for the food hall alone. I did enjoy browsing the counters, and seeing all the different tasty treats - some that made sense to my American mind, some that made me wonder. There were quite a few items that made me pause, as well, and consider for my meal that night. In the end, after a few laps around the perimeter of the store, we decided to snag a few different things to sample and then head out into the night to find a place to enjoy our snacks. I ended up with a cup of the steak and ale soup, which was served with two slices of bread. The hubs went all out with a black pudding and sausage roll and a steak and stilton pie. We supplemented these items with a couple of (very overpriced) drinks, and then promptly left the store. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I wasn't expecting much, to be honest, so to find that the food was filling and tasty was a nice bonus. My husband loved both of his items, but wasn't able to finish them - I guess it was flaky, pastry overload. I had no issues finishing the cup of soup - it was rather smaller than his two items. My only gripe was that the dumplings within the cup (of which there were only two) were kind of chewy, in the overcooked-and-not-so-yummy kind of way. After this store, I felt shopping in US is much affordable. We went to every floor, from LG, G, 1, 2, 3, 4 to 5. Harrods is the place to go if you want to experience luxury mall shopping in London. This mall has 8 floors and is about 5 acres wide. They have a toy section with sales people, showing kids how each toy works (not sure if they work on commission). They also have a huge selection of luxury purses from Channel, LV, Prada, Gucci etc., to affordable brands like Micheal Kors, Coach, Longchamps etc., electronics, shoes, jewelry and watch room, home furnitures and accessories, billionaire's toy section- yes, coolest toys that we can only admire and so much more. Lastly, the lower level is mostly occupied by the very famous "Harrods food hall". This is definitely a world of its own. A combination of wet (Fresh seafood, vegetables and meat) and dry food market, cafe, and food bars for people to dine in (limited seating) The big hall of to-go food prepared by Harrods chefs. The food hall is a huge buffet set-up with attendants in every stall, except, you pay for every item you get. My daughter ordered sushi of course, I got some meat pies and pastries to take back to our apartment. If you're a foodie, an hour is not enough to explore the food hall. So much food and they all looked so good!!! I highly recommend getting any of their deep fried pastries. You won't regret it! One set-back that we didn't know about, is that they don't have tables and chairs to eat the food that you bought. If you are planning to eat the food that you purchased, you can take it outside the mall, eat it at the outside benches (just take a spot under the trees and do picnic style like we did. :-)). So, when you're in London, and have a spare time for malling or just plane hungry, this is the place to go. There is something very special about the Knightsbridge location, historical building and the quintessential British air about the place. I was on a mission to find something here that I wasn't able to get in NYC. I found the selection of designer labels very nice and the individualized boutique layout with the giant multi level building a unique touch to the department store shopping experience. I did find the Ralph and Russo boutique which has not expanded quite yet to New York or Miami but I am told they're opening soon. So, like any good tourist looking to take advantage of a favorable exchange rate and the VAT tax, I purchased some items from the couture designer that I know cannot be found in the states. The food hall is impressive and the overall service is not at all stuffy as one might expect. Salespersons were quite friendly in fact. Although others have suggested that Harrods isn't worth the trip, I beg to differ. There's something quintessential British and luxurious about this place. There are no words!!! You have to SEE this place. You can spend a day in there. There are lots of options for dining too. I had a delicious meal in the cafe on the third floor. Then stopped in Laduree for macaroons. read more
