I had an incredibly stubborn clog in my bathroom sink. Called Harry but he does not remove clogs. I called a company that specializes in this area but they were unable to clear the drain. (Don't know why) I called Harry back to see what he recommends and he told me he would stop over. He came first thing the next morning and told me exactly what the problem was and what to do to fix it. Harry didn't charge me for his time. I cleared the drain and saved money by doing it myself. My water heater blew. I asked my neighbors for a recommendation and several people immediately replied "Harry Barr". I called Harry around 8pm, he immediately FaceTimed with me showing me what do do and tells me he'll be by "in the morning". He shows up at 7am, wearing a mask (gotta love 2020), takes a look and quotes me a price. He tells me his guy will "be here shortly"; maybe 20 minutes later his guy is here starting the work. Really nice guy, again in a mask (screw you 2020). In a very short time the job is done. It ended up costing less than Harry quoted, despite doing extra work that the guy said was "the right thing to do". Amazing work, so nice, actually talked me out of extra work they didn't feel I needed. My water heater was leaking from the top and I wasn't strong or tall enough to turn off its water supply. Harry came right away to do that and he gave me an estimate for the replacement, which was very fair. One of his people fixed the whole thing two days later. They were returned my call right away. The job required that the town water department cut off water to the house. They were here to do the work at the appointed time, but the water department didn't show up. When the town arrived later and turned off the water, Barr made sure that one of his crew came right over to do the work. I called and spoke directly to Harry telling him I needed a bathroom faucet fixed but I had to wait until my husband was out of work during early afternoon because he works nights. My husband call when he was home and they said they would be there by 3 and they were a NO SHOW. I then called after 5pm and spoke with Harry again directly and he apparently didn't put the work order in , full of apologies and told me how unprofessional that was and that they would be at my house the following day at 12:30 and how sorry he was. Well, guess what, another NO SHOW. Now I get Harry on the phone again and he then wants to tell me that I was the next job After 12:30. I know that's not what was said because I would have asked for a time being someone had to be there. I was told now he is going to do the job for free. If he shows. Harry Barr Plumbing is the BEST. Last year, we moved to a new home in Wayne that needed some updating with the plumbing but we also did some major renovations that involved plumbing as well. Harry personally came to our house to assess the work to be done and made recommendations based on his expertise that were very helpful. We had our laundry room moved from downstairs to upstairs, the fireplace converted to gas, a new sum pump installed, toilets and shower leaks repaired among other things. His team of workers are all excellent at what they do, show up on time, work efficiently and are extremely courteous. Called Harry Barr in the AM because my Furnace had stopped working, another plumber recommended Harry, because he would not be able to look at it until later in the day. Harry came pretty quick, was very professional and knowledgeable, and diagnosed the problem immediately, Nick (also very friendly and professional) came back later in the day with the new part and got my furnace working. My only issue with them is the cost, I thought it was too high for the service (I checked with a few people and they thought the same), I don't mind paying a little more for excellent service, but not when it's excessive. Update:Spoke with Harry, as previously stated, he is very friendly and professional, he explained the cost in more detail and after talking with him, I will definitely use him again if the need arises. read more

Terrible and untrustworthy. Told us we had so much damage and that he had to notify the township because of regulations. It was such a nightmare. Something didn't sound right when he said he has to call the Township. We then got a second opinion and they said there's no work really to be done and told us we were going to be scammed. Harry Barr Plumbing destroyed the downstairs of our home causing thousands of dollars of damage. He installed a toilet in our upstairs master bathroom and neglected to seal the shut-off valve on the toilet. He also never sealed the baseboard heating in both upstairs bathrooms that he had installed. His mistake caused a waterfall to flow from the upstairs bathroom through the ceiling of our downstairs bathroom, creating significant water damage to our downstairs bathroom, the kitchen ceiling and adjoining living room walls. We had hired Harry Barr Plumbing to prevent floods not cause them. He openly admitted that it was his worker's error. However, he tried to bully me into agreeing to have him just patch up the ceiling and not to worry that there shouldn't be any water or mold damage. This was the farthest from the truth. Water had seeped through the walls and insulation down to the flooring and it was a mess. This was confirmed by experts who we had evaluate the situation so we would know how to proceed. We initially hired Harry Barr Plumbing to replace pipes in our upstairs bathrooms. When his workers were doing the work initially at our house, I noticed that they were always in a rush to get moving to the next job. The workers were constantly being interrupted by phone calls and text messages that completely distracted them. I believe this is what caused them to negligently forget to seal the baseboard heating and toilet. When you rush a job, errors happen. This showed me the company's total disregard and lack of caring. When Harry Barr confronted me after he caused flooding in my house, he said his reputation means everything to him. Well, if it did, he didn't show it because during the weeks his workers were at our house, he never once came to check on the job or the work being done. He filed a claim with his insurance carrier to report the damage he caused. We have yet to receive reimbursement from his insurance carrier. What's even worse was that he texted us to find out if we ever received his bill and obviously he's wondering when he is going to get paid. What nerve! After asking around, we learned that his insurance company is the bottom of the barrel. I guess, birds of a feather flock together. We were without a downstairs bathroom for over 3 mos. To top it off, our teenage daughter had foot issues and was to have foot surgery. She was immobile and any time she needed the bathroom she would have to crawl upstairs. We had move on this and layout more money upfront to get the bathroom done before she returned home from the hospital after her surgery. At the very beginning of the job, at his suggestion, we placed a "special order" for parts for our shower (the cost of $900 that had to be prepaid) from the plumbing supply company he told us to use in Wayne on Hamburg Turnpike. Mr. Barr sent one of his workers to pick them up. A few weeks went by before the parts were able to be installed. When they were to be installed, we could not find the parts that his worker said he supposedly delivered to our house. We showed him the invoice of the parts that were to have been picked up and they were nowhere to be found. Since the order showed that they were picked up at the plumbing supply store, we were stuck because we had already prepaid for the parts. One of his worker admitted to us that he didn't even check the box of parts he picked up to make sure all of the parts were there from the plumbing supply store because he said he was in a rush and he wasn't able to recall if all of the parts were actually there. Another one of the workers told us that they have had issues with this plumbing supply store and it happens all the time. Parts that would have cost us $900, ended up costing us $1600 because we had to replace the order (from another company). Had his company properly done its job, we would not have ended up spending money we didn't need to spend. Come to your own conclusion of whether you want to hire this plumbing company. read more
