This doctor is old school and not in a good way. His bedside manner is non-existent. He's not rude, he just didn't seem to care about my issues. The absolute gall of this man. I went to visit as I had high counts... Dr. Neuwirth said we should get an MRI... I told him that I am very claustrophobic and if an open MRI would work ; he said no. I said then what are our options. Without any empathy, he literally said that I likely have cancer, and come back in a year to get checked out. Dr. Harry Neuwirth saved me and I want to take the time to thank him formally. I went to his office late afternoon this last Wednesday August 15th. I had been suffering stomach pain and other bad side effects since March of this year. I had been to other medical professionals and I thought I had my appendix taken out 40 years ago. I went in to have him look at an ultrasound that included my kidneys and some things with them that I thought could be causing my current problem or could start a new problem. I was tentatively scheduled for a gallbladder surgery on August 29th to take care of the stomach pain. Dr. Neuwirth examined me and said I had to go to the emergency room right away and that I needed a scan. He called ahead to let them know I was on my way and the test that was necessary. I had an emergency appendectomy that night. My surgeon told my friend after the surgery that my appendix was very inflamed. I was so lucky it did not burst. I owe this doctor for being on top of things and identifying my problem even though I told him my appendix had been taken out 40 years ago. Sandy Rolleri read more

Had a horrible experience would not recommend this doctor to anyone. Was careless, unprofessional, and callous.

I was just a wife along for the ride, but if you have to have your boys examined Dr. Neuwirth seems like a great choice. He was professional, but had a nice sense of humor with helped us both relax. Now we are just waiting for test results, so I may have an update later. But the office staff was helpful and nice as well! UPDATE::: Dr. Neuwirth gave us the good news that the troops have improved. Hopefully we will not have to see him too soon, but he is going to do every 6 month monitoring, and we really have faith in his opinion! read more

I visited Dr. Neuwirth because I had a significant urological problem. Upon examination, Dr. Neuwirth explained my options in detail, patiently answered all my questions, performed the surgery and helped me through recovery. During all points along this journey, Dr. Neuwirth was a thorough professional demonstrating significant experience, along with a pleasant sense of humor. Just this week I had my six month check-up and was pleased to hear Dr. Neuwirth state he doesn't need to see me again. I hope to bump into him at some coffee shop, he's a great guy. For reasons best not described here, I have had to see urologists semi-regularly for almost 50 years. I have been a patient of Dr. Neuwirth's for at least 10 of those years. So I speak from experience when I say that he is very good at what he does. I find him thorough and understanding while still keeping things moving. His sense of humor is great for diffusing anxiety while not getting in the way of his professionalism. He has pushed, probed and prodded the most intimate areas of my plumbing while keeping my dignity and trust intact. I found the wait times totally acceptable, and the staff friendly and reassuring. Let's face it: not many of us really look forward to urological appointments and procedures. But with Dr. Neuwirth, I am confident that my important matters are in good hands. read more

He explained my situation thoroughly and got the job done quickly and effectively. I did require surgery and he fully explained the procedure and his team was great. I am writing in support of Dr. Neuwirth. Peter S, you neglected to tell your audience about the trip to Hawaii you chose to take during your recovery - how did you expect him to care for you there? A visit to the doctor is not always a pleasurable one; certainly for a MAN (and named PETER) to see an UROLOGIST! You're in pain and may have to endure even more discomfort before becoming cured. I understand that first hand, just like you. I reside in San Diego, but my business is in San Rafael. I am a weekly commuter on Southwest. While being treated for a serious infection which eventually required open heart surgery, I had to see Dr. Neuwirth at a time when I was 500+ miles away from my primary medical team. I found him to be very thorough and cautious in his care for me. He was prompt and professional in keeping my team in San Diego well informed. Though he suggested I secure another urologist in San Diego, I chose to have him complete his care for me. His office came highly recommended; he and his staff never let me down. I had successful open heart surgery, going home 4 days later. My medical team suggested I remain in town for two weeks, just to play it safe. Though I may not be the first to disobey a doctors' advice in the past, I am now a good patient who listens. The absolute LAST place I'd choose to be during any surgical recovery is on some Hawaiian island - I know - I lived THERE for 8 years! read more
