I was unable to get it "unstuck" in my ureter, and I had a vacation scheduled in a few days.

I worked with Dr. Daniel for about 2.5 years as I was getting sick too often with colds and flus…read more Instead of improving my immune system, it got dramatically worse and my overall health and fitness degraded a lot. Dr. Daniel did a lot of pricy and questionable testing and put me on 41 pills a day of either supplements or prescription medicine. I developed a concerning medical condition I'd never had before that made me feel sicker than ever, requiring me to stop eating many foods, and made me so fatigued, all I could do was lie on the couch most days for months. It was miserable. I finally got fed up with her after the second time she raised her prices significantly during the pandemic and fired her. I had spent tens of thousands of dollars on her appointments, testing and supplements. I immediately went off of everything she had prescribed and felt so much better within two weeks. My health has been just fine since I stopped following her advice 18 months ago. She may have a lot of five-star Yelp reviews but read them closely - few mention good medical outcomes from working with Dr. Daniel. That's because she gives her patients a discount on supplements in exchange for Yelp reviews which they write at the beginning of their treatment before they have any outcomes. This practice is unethical and should be illegal. Note to Dr. Daniel: When you attempt to rebut my review, be sure not to violate HIPAA.

Excellent doctor; disappointing practice…read more First of all, Dr. Daniel is extraordinary: extremely well-informed, profound, compassionate, and caring. Working with her had an incredibly positive effect on my health and well-being and I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her, and get back to optimal health. However, there have been recent changes to the practice that feel de-humanizing. Today, in the midst of a pandemic, I tried to log in to ask a question or make a short appointment, and was told my account was "inactive" as I had not had an appointment in a year. I called to see if I could ask Dr. Daniel, a doctor I really trust, a question or make an appointment, and Jason/Jonathan called me to tell me that I was no longer a patient, and the practice was not accepting new patients. I told him I'd been a patient since 2015, and asked him how I could make an appointment, or ask Dr. Daniel a question, and he said I would need to go online and read about my options, that who knows if I could be seen again, but that I might be a "level 2" or "level 3. " When I asked him what that meant, he said I should go online. As a longtime patient, a mother, and a scientist, I felt hurt and disrespected by this de-humanizing interaction. It seemed that the rug had been swept out from under my feet - I was booted from the practice because I felt well and hadn't had an appointment in a year. These new policies, and the interaction with Jason/Jonathan were the exact opposite of my previous experience with Dr. Daniels (warm, humanizing, caring). He left me with no other option than to seek other care.

My children and I were forced to use what we were told was a court approved therapist, and ripped my happy children away from the therapist they loved and benefited from. The woman that was forced upon us HAD BEEN REMOVED FOR CAUSE from the approved list. For a year, my children were being constantly upset by the harmful acts of a very unethical person and Nancy was able to identify what was going on and that my children were likely going through PTSD, and will once my children are with a properly trained therapist, they will get much better. And she was right! I took my daughter to a psychiatrist and the psychiatrist quickly observed that the "bad therapist" and an abusive situation were the source of the issues, and that the child needed to immediately get away from the "harmful interactions and torturous sessions" and the child would resolve. My daughter was beaming and glowing and it is truly a shame that some practitioners harm the name of therapy. Thank goodness Dr Nancy Olesen was able to set out the guidelines and point me to the APA and Standards that should be followed. Dr Nancy Olesen is an expert in her field and I reset my hope in professionals having standards to adhere to, and my ability to identify what was wrong.

I had a deeply disappointing experience with this child custody evaluator during a very difficult…read morecustody case many years ago. The evaluator failed to understand the actual family dynamics and recommended limiting my relationship with my daughter, portraying me as the primary problem. I was essentially told that it would be acceptable for my daughter to stop seeing me and that I should simply wait for her to come back into my life on her own. Thankfully, I did not give up on my relationship with my daughter. I continued to follow the court process, maintained contact, traveled across the country regularly to see her, and stayed committed as her parent despite enormous obstacles. My daughter is now 27 years old, and today we have a loving, healthy relationship. She recently visited me in San Francisco before starting a new job in Boston, and we spent a wonderful week together enjoying restaurants, Napa, shopping, and simply enjoying each other's company. Looking back, I believe the evaluator's conclusions were not only misguided, but potentially harmful. Parents should be cautious about placing too much weight on the opinions of custody evaluators who may not fully recognize manipulation, alienation, or the long-term importance of preserving a parent-child bond. I would give zero star if I could.

The upper blepharoplasty was performed under local anesthetic and felt effortless! I have recommended Dr. Cox and the procedure to many of my friends who are apprehensive about surgery. The lower blepharoplasty required general anesthesia, which I was dreading, but everything worked out like magic. I woke up from the anesthesia as if I were emerging from a nap. After the bruising subsided in about two weeks, I noticed a significant change--from my eyes looking tired and droopy to appearing energetic and youthful. I'm thrilled with the results and would recommend (and have recommended) Dr. Cox to anyone considering eye surgery. She is the best!

Don't get too excited by the reviews. Dr. Cox is has a 5 star personality, and 1 star surgical…read moreskills. Dr. Cox did "droppy eyelid" repair for me in July 2024. She said it would improve my vision, it did not. In addition to which, it was far more painful than I was led to believe. She neglected to close my eye lids 100% (one needs 100% eye lid closure!), she changed the shape of my eyes. I once had beautiful almond shaped eyes. I now have weird looking round eyes. I now have dry eyes, resulting in daily discomfort. The surgery worsened my vision, my contact lens prescription kept changing, going up and down, I can't drive at night, it is too much of a strain to read books. I used to be an avid reader, finding great comfort in books. The is no longer a pleasure for me. I miss reading very much. Dr. Cox did try to remedy the problems by checking in with me asking "how are your eyes", checking my vision, and telling me how to heat rice in a sock to put over my aching eyes. Eventually, she said she couldn't help me anymore so I should go to UCSF. Of course, we all know UCSF has excellent doctors who are very busy. The one she sent me to, took months to get an appointment with. Once I did, they sent me to another doctor (an eye plastic surgeon) who sent me to another doctor. I've gotten tired, I've given up. One more thing, the surgical team: A component of the surgery to contend with is that Dr. Cox needs to wake the patient up during surgery to check on her work. I recall vividly how when I was under I felt like I was choking and couldn't breath. Dr. Cox caught my distress because she was checking on her work. She alerted the anesthesiologist, who then stopped telling some silly story or another and started paying attention to me, the patient, and put me in a position so I would feel like I was choking. That was terrifying! So, I'll give Dr. Cox credit for catching my distress, although I hope by now she is using a different anesthesiologist on her surgical team. All of this begs the question, why haven't I sued Dr. Cox? I really don't know. I think it is because I've been focusing on dealing with the fall out of my surgery fiasco. I encourage folks to consider surgery with Dr. Cox through very very carefully. Take good care.
